nice duo you got there! congrats on the R9. :-) my ultimate GAS guitar!

+ 1 on the RS kit. i installed one on my R8 (together with WCR Goodwoods pups) and it made me realize how crappy the stock pots are. the RS kit coupled with a great PAF clone PUP will totally transform an already great guitar into a killer one. i haven't touched my other guitars as of late since i modded my R8. nothing beats a great lester, IMHO.

a gustavsson???? (i'll take a stab at your no. 2: a Baker???)

a gustavsson to me is a confused guitar. it doesn't know if it want's to be a telecaster or a les paul.

kidding aside i'm sure it's a great guitar but to me it looks like it's somebody else's version of a les paul. it's a variation of an original design, it might be better but it's still a copy. :-)

to me it's Gibson or bust!

Actually, A JG is a Paul Thru and thru. There is nothing telecaster about it other than the shape (which is smaller than a tele and closer to a LP size). The only reason Johann switched the shape was for patent infringement reasons. The purpose of a blues master was to correctly copy a vintage 50's paul. Glues, woods, angles, everything was studied and refined to become the bluesmaster. It's also the only guitar that alot of real burst owners say is closest to a real burst. Everything else is a modern guitar.

Anyhow, hope this helps.

The baker is closer to a PRS than a paul IMHO.

Ive actually gigged it a few times. Hahaha

But no one ever cares that Im playing it. It's really a guitarists guitar if you know what I mean. Its by ABSOLUTELY NO MEANS A PRACTICAL GUITAR. I find the baker as my most gigable guitar because its built like a rock. The finish is solid (ive gigged it alot at konte palang yung buckle rash). Basically I play the JG for special occasions (like when im trying out a new amp live etc etc or a nice big show), I play the Baker when I want something consistent and I know will perform, I play the pauls when I wanna get a reaction from the audience and sound a little edgier/ raw.

The historics are still IMHO the best value for money pauls around, specially the r7, r8 and G0. Id never recommend for someone to save up for a JG, but Id openly tell guys to save up for r7 and r8's. If you had to be practical.. gibson parin. (no body needs a bugatti veyron right? well be fine with our porshe's Haha)

Thanks sir. I definitely agree with what you just said and i really adore your Gustavsson. If i become a billionnaire, i'll give everyone here a Gustavsson of their choice...

I just hope Gibson guitars would be more affordable so that most of the musicians here in our country can afford one. They are so expensive, it'll take me 2 to 3 years to save up and get one, buti na lang i got one agad as a gift... Despite the fact that they are overpriced, i'd still get one. Iba yung Tone, Feel, and playability. imho

Only a Gibson is good enough...  :-D
