i have two gibson lp's with 490r/498t and classic 57 respectively. never cared to replace them. the only upgrade I did is to change them to 50's wiring and PIO caps.

IMHO, the subtle difference between aftermarket pickups and stock pickups can be fine tuned by using EQ.

I bought a Gibson 2014 LPJ in Cherry Satin after looking for an SG in all Swee Lee branches in Singapore. It was at the last branch that we visited that I saw this sweet-looking guitar just when I was about to give up. I gave it a try and the rest was history. It's a proper Les Paul without the frills. I really like the 50's profile neck as well (similar to my Fender '52 Vintage Reissue Telecaster neck profile). Best bang for the buck!

Tried it before. It's too modern for a "traditional".
The 2017 trads imo are better. With the stock abr1 and all(though with the nashville bushing). needs the poker chip to complete the look though.
