John Digweed:

Among five DJs you must experience in your lifetime, the UK's John Digweed is one of them.

DJ’s are the new superstars.  Yes, the times they are changing.  In the UK last year, turntables outsold guitars for the first time ever. Not the club employee playing in the background anymore, the DJ has become the center of attention in a club or dance party.  Rightly so, as they are mainly responsible for bringing the vibe and energy.  In other countries, (especially in the UK), the DJ is revered.  Now, one of those revered DJs will be visiting Manila very soon.

John Digweed is easily one of the world's best DJs. In the well-regarded poll of the 100 Best DJs in the World by DJ Magazine, Digweed was ranked number 6. With his dark take on trance changing the sound of New York clubland and his Bedrock night among Europe's best, this has been Digweed's year. His status is legendary, earning respect from clubbers, the music press and other DJs. His Global Underground compilation (Hong Kong number 14) was voted by DJ Magazine as the second best compilation of 1999.

His DJ sets have been described as breathtaking and out of this world. He fuses the New York dark and twisted sound with the deep trance of the UK. He and Sasha (another revered DJ) are responsible for the growing popularity of Progressive House.

This Wednesday, September 20 at 9 PM, Levi’s brings you John Digweed as he takes us through a journey we all have never experienced when he performs a 3-hour set at Storeys in The Fort, Bonifacio Global City.  Digweed is currently on an Asian tour and will be visiting the Philippines for the first time.  As part of its continuous support of the local club scene, Levi’s also recently flew in club legends Armand van Helden and Deep Dish for a massive dance party at the cavernous World Trade Center.

The event is a production of club promoters NBK who were also responsible for club events which featured the likes of Paul van Dyk, Alex P, Renaissance Tour with Dave Seaman and Sister Bliss, BT, Anthony Pappa, Ferry Corsten (System F) and many others.  NBK residents Manolet Dario and Adrian Cuenca warm up the crowd before the main event.

This once in a lifetime party is also supported by Ericsson, Lucky Strike, Nike, Channel [V], Radius, Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, NU 107, Localvibe.com.  Production design is by the avant garde installation team of Warp.

Other upcoming NBK events include Ferry Corsten on October 31 for a big Halloween Party in Manila and November 10 in Cebu, Steve Lawler on November 17, and some surprise DJs in December.
