G'day! I'm a newbie here, can I crash in and check out the action tonight? What kind of songs do you guys play? Are there free jams (since it says in the message that it's band night tonight)? I don't know anyone here, but I hope there's room for one more potential jammer...

ur always welcome to jam bro...bring ur gear and show us waht u got..i started here just like you. NOw I come here on a regular basis. Made friends with a lot of ppl. Im sure u'll enjoy this. Its @purple haze in tomas morato just infront of the gas station in Tomas MOrato cor. E Rodriguez Ave. Learned a lot of things , so I suggest youdo the same, show ur stuff, learn from the others and share what u know. See u tonight

Galing ng jam! I can't wait to attend the next one on Dec. 18. Hope it pushes through! Also, thanks for making me feel so at home and at ease! Really appreciate the gesture, and shall pay it forward  :-D

By the way, I  think it might just be me, but the sound levels were too high for comfort.. my ears are still ringing from last night (a condition called tinnitus, I believe)! Next time, I think I better sit further back... or perhaps we can have a decibel ceiling which we shouldn't breach? Just thinking aloud though, I really must be getting old... man, for the kind of performance played last night, there's no need to bring the volume way up there to make the hair stand and the head shake,  your sheer artistry already suffices! Man, you guys rock!

Really, I was up all night working some stuff after the EB and my adrenaline was still pumping at 4 in the morning! And I didn't even get to jam last night (hey, I'm not complaining, I was trying to take it all in and rather not play...words like, "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy", kept on going through my head) and still I was way too excited to sleep. Dude, real music, finally!

You guys ought to make money doing this... Hey, BAMF, care to commercialize some of these stuff and events? Man, for the first time after so many years of looking, I finally found some real music going on live, and I'm sure people, and a lot more people like me,  will pay to patronize the kind of music done last night.  Let's organize and run things tighter and do some marketing and sell some events... nope, it's not crass commercialism, it's just an issue of sustainability in business. It's a crying shame if all these musicians don't get any rewards (aside from psychic income... but people need real cash). Also, if we keep a place packing with people, then places like Purple Haze will also get rewarded for sponsoring events...

Guys, watyatink? I'm game if you'd like to explore the possibilities...

about dun sa recording natin jepoy, medyo worried ako kasi wala tayong monitor para malaman kung pantay ba or distorted na yung pumapasok sa laptop mo.. and yung submix ng drums worried din ako, kasi sira yung earphones plug sa mixer ni bamf, hindi tuloy mamonitor yung mix ng mics.. for sure hindi siya pantay... but still ok narin yun, i hope kahit papanu maganda kinalabasan ng recording...


anyways, ang lufet ng tugtugan kagabi! yan talaga ang jamming! astig! i hope for of this EB jams to come.. and we are at the stage na kumakapa pa lang.. but in the long run, maayus din natin lahat ito!

Bro, agree ako dyan. I think what you guys are doing is important, and it's precisely this reason which makes me want these jams to be sustainable in the long run. 8-) It's only with this kind of free expression that we can hear real music (to me), not the kind manufactured commercially to pander to the masses, the kind that you hear over and over again in the radio or tv. That's the distinction to me, that we never commercialize the spirit... It might be as simple as asking the guests to spend at least 300 bucks for the night (example lang yun) ordering beer and food... or it can be selling CDs of the jams to customers, in order to book even larger events or more numerous events, that kind of stuff. But never to surrender the soul of the jam night... the artist must express himself in the manner and form that he prefers, and money should not dictate what he performs or not  :-D

You know, maybe like that Montreux jazz festival... it's more about ensuring that the music goes on. The free jam is the acid test of the musician, where there's just the music and nothing else. Pero tama ka din, maybe the Haze EB is not the proper venue... but if we can find some other event that will pay for the Haze EB, that will be heaven sent... let the jams continue!

Again, just my thoughts. Sorry, I don't mean to be officious at all, it's just that tama si Floyd... saraaaaaaaaaaaaaaap talaga ng feeling coming out of the venue. Sana tuloy-tuloy ang ligaya!

Sorry guys nakakahiyang galawin ng todohan ang House Sound Equipments eh. The only thing we can do is the levels on the mixers we brought along :( . The other problem is the low level ceilings kaya ganun na lang din ang lakas ng bato ng sounds di maganda ang acoustics nya. Try to think of it halos magkasing laki lang sila ng mayrics pero bat ang mayrics maayos kahit papano? because of the ceilings pa rin.

Guys, I have a 4 track recorder (the PXR4) that I can bring to the jam on the 18th. If you have friends who can write backing tracks for you, just ask them to write it in MP2 format and save in SmartMedia cards. (it's old technology, unfortunately, but it works.... so there), I can load it up for you and you can play alongside it. It's perfect to kill downtime (e.g. while there's a change of bands, or while everybody is waiting for the show to start).

Alternatively, we can use MP3's or some other format, but that means I'll have to lug along my laptop... since I'm planning to bring my gear too, maybe we can start with the PXr4 muna.

This way,  we can start early for the pre-jam get-together and swap notes, say 8 pm-9 pm. Then, show starts at 9, right? It's also good warm-up for the fingers of the guitarists. Hey, BAMF, is that ok? Right now, I'm put together some backing tracks myself for the pre-show jammers (I'm presumptious, sana puede nga earlier jam  :-D )

1. Pachelbel's the Canon - JerryC's version (popularized by FunTwo), but this one I didn't make... this comes straight from JerryC's fan sites
2. Devil's slide - Satriani (live in san francisco version, not the lame studio recording)
3. East Wes  - Eric Johnson

Thanks, BAMF! I'll try to get there by around 8 pm, to help out if there's anyone who would like to jam pre-show using backing tracks... excellent warm-up for the fingers.

Hey, guys, I have lots of time on my hands right now and might help you put together some backing tracks... kindly write your suggested pieces and hopefully we might be able to put something together, if not on the 18th then on some (near) future date for an EB... yeah, let's create a backing track pre-show party... instead of karaoke minus the singer, we can have minus 2 (singer and lead guitar or what have you)...

Mind you, these backing tracks I prepare are not in final distribution quality... they are more like rough drafts to give structure to the guitarists... but, if I have more time, I'll prepare better backing tracks, for real live solo performances, if there's a market for it.

Watyatink? Hey, psychic sushi and elmo, if you have time can you help me prepare the said tracks? I've no talent for jazzy music unfortunately, and this is where you can help out. Any other volunteers? I'll just lug along my portable recorder and lay down the tracks separately...

And I use the same DAW software (on the laptop anyway) as what you use so...:D . Naku haze...maiinis ka sa Alesis ni Jepoy. Kainis ! Kung kelan na-kumpleto ko na mixer and DAW setup ko saka naman ako pinakilala netong si Jepoy sa Alesis FW16 !

Yo! Two things: First, I'm completely clueless as to what a 4-6 pin IEEE 1396 cable is  :?  But that looks like something I should be looking into, so I'll check it out (also, I'll have to check my laptop which is rather antique by today's standards kasi model 2002 pa) Second, I'm not planning on bringing my notebook, kasi dadala ako guitars and stuff; rather, dalhin ko yung PXR4 ko, it's a portable 4 track recorder (actually, it has 32 virtual tracks, but only 4 can be played at any time) which plugs directly into an amp (like the Bass amp or even the PA console or the guitar amp as a last resort).  Mas handy kasi dalhin, tapos puede i-mix (I record on separate tracks kasi eh) through the sliders while playing, para puede i-balance yung bass, drums, gutiars etc. while playing live.

Actually, we can plug the PXR4 directy into the mic or aux input of your notebook; or even perhaps to the mixer console, but I'm not sure what the ports look like for the mixer (unless it's a virtual mixer?). If it can take a guitar jack, then it can take the PXR4 but I'll bring along my adaptors just in case kailangan.... Oo nga pala, I forgot to mention, di pa Midi yung PXR4 kaya medyo low-tech pa, but it makes for fast and ready tracks, kailangan nga lang mag-bounce onto tracks lagi (long story, next time na lang)...

Btw, I haven't started the BTs for the Christmas songs yet, I'm looking for simpler things to record... We should talk to the keyboards forum people, they can also make backing tracks more efficiently, especially because of the built-in stuff of their keyboards na naka Midi direct to the PC ...

You dont need to bring that PXR4 of yours. If you havnt noticed... naka setup kami ng Digital Live Multitrack Recording. I ask you to bring IEEE1396 (Firewire) coz your saying your bringing BACKTRACK Stuffs.

Yes, technically, it's free, as in walang ticket, but the venue requests a P100 per head consummable. Everyone is welcome and sure bring guests ! New acquaintances are always, always, always a pleasure. Actually, its what keeps me inspired doing these events.

Ganyan naman sa events these days...hindi magsi-signify pero in full force, full gear pa. Punta ka lang ready with an axe pick and pedal. Pag me slack time, togs pa din. Minsan nga di ka maniwala na first time nagkakatugtugan yung mga tao dahil solid pa din.

Anyway, maiba tayong usapan. Just got a text from Fafa Dax. open daw ang Dec. 23.

Tentative call for December 23, Saturday. If we have siguro five bands at least, and specially if many pupunta (jammers, watchers party-goers) go tayo.

Then kung okay na tayo, re-check ko lang kung open pa din ang Dec. 23 and balitaan ko kayo. One week lang ang prep time so I'll need quick responses guys.

No tickets, so free entrance, request lang ng venue is everyone (that includes band and guests) consume at least P100 in food and drinks, per head.

It is a private party of sorts, so parang yun na ang "tong" natin for using the place.  :evil:

haay...sarap ng recording setup ni Jepoy...paguwi ko sa bahay..wla ako ginawa kundi aralin ung mga tinuro sa akin ni Chito....medyo may kahirapan nga ung Cliffs..pero ok sa kin kasi ung tunog andun na eh...ung Manhattan kailangan ko na rin aralin...kakahiya sa nu 2 ni Chito...pare sarap nung dinner natin na Porkchop...hehehehehe
