Zao > Christian metal/hardcore

Kidding aside, I apply the same standards for all metal/hardcore. I mean, if you're supposed to be cool in your community because you're a Christcore band with like, a million breakdowns that's okay. It won't save you from being a bad hardcore band if you're placed within the bigger context of the music you play. To add, I doubt there are actually Christian hardcore bands here. As in bands of Christians in the hardcore scene who espouse BOTH Christianity and the ethos of hardcore punk in the context of local DIY. I mean there are bands like xLooking Forwardx that make sense to a secular person like me but then there's the whole slew of Christian metalcore bands who seem to use "hardcore" as a catchword na walang context.

in all seriousness, i think it is rather silly and quite stupid to label a music genre based on lyrical content.

right on! and i also think it's stupid na genre na ang religion! WTF?

okay , don't want this to be another religious debate thread! pero sakin lang "Religion, leave music alone"

wow!

ano daw? see my point! ha?? pati sa music gusto nila lagyan ng division!!!

just for fun.. how about mideo cruz?(dont like the guy, pero just to prove my point) pano kung yun ang inspirasyon niya??? inspirasyon ang tawag doon brad/madam..

eh bakit nagwawala ang religious folks??? sinong naglimita?? asan ang freedom??

ok I'll change my statements "religion should leave art and music alone"

im not saying they couldn't write or draw a praise/religion song ang point ko lang malayo na ang art and music sa scope nang religion, wag pati dito pakialaman nila at pasukan ng politika nila! "ART is freedom"

Again Im Not against "Praise songs" or writing  songs or doing art with "religious content" art is freedom di ako naglilimita kaya sana pag baliktad ang sitwasyon wag ding magwala ang mga bwiset na religious freaks na to dahil patas ang canvas pag dating sa art, wag hanggang dito eh nangangaral(pero ang totoo nangko-control) sila!

ban the incubus concert petition last year??? WTF!! now are you getting my point sir? peace tayo, read between the lines!mali ang pagkakaintindi mo sa post ko!!!

okay lets not make this another "debate or senseless keyboard war thread"  the thread's title is ""What do you think of Christian Rock / Metal / Hardcore Music?" and that is what i think/believe so sinabi ko..

you stated yours, I stated mine, that's just fair for both of us! lets move on! peace! :-D

and oh di ikaw yung sinabihan kong "nangangaral" but those religious leaders of different churches na pati hanggang sa different scopes of art eh gusto makialam.. again that's just my observation! peace..

Syempre pag narinig na ng iba sasabihin demonyo daw hehe, but they don't see the message of the song, it's not on how they/we play the music, it's the heart of worship to the Lord.

CHRISTIAN METAL/HARDCORE to the END!

Dahil hindi lahat ng lyrics na may praise or seems like godly or malinis ang lyrics pwede ng ilabel na christian artist, e.g. Creed- many considered them as a christian band but they are denying that they are christian saka yung Bamboo yung knta nila Aleluya yata yun ang gannda ng lyrics pero at parang may praise pero bakit kinalaunan nagpromote sila ng beer commercial at marami pang iba. Which most of my christian friend promotes and refer this and label these bands as christian artist. And besides there are bands that are compose of christian and non christian band member and they both shares some ideas in terms of composition and musical arrangement. So who ever prefers this type of music, better to research first the band testimony, ika nga background check muna. All types of music are created by God, it just happened that Satan perverted the music. Kahit anu genre pa yan still it will reveal what kind of inspiration have drawn the artist. Nonetheless music are created in equality for expression of our emotion, it will just depends how we will use and express it.

There is no such thing as Christian Music, Christians who happen to be musicians I would rather put it, your faith expressed in whatever influenced you may have, arranged and penned with lyrics advocating your faith, experience or values.

Saddest thing about it in many sects of christianity is they flaunt their faith by creating counter culture (Christian Music, Christian Engineer, Christian Painter, etc) and bear their chivalry like they know how to run the world whereas their very own faith teaches humility not righteous arrogance, trying to win a world by putting labels (Satanic, Demonic, worldy, etc) on anything their very faith or the quote "bible says" cliche (already stereo-typed) puts up, praying and hoping the Holy Spirit would zap the suppose to be they are witnessing to. They go witch hunting exposing subtle evil creeping in the world, while failing to see the immorality taking place in their own backyard. While they get trained and programmed in evangelization or witnessing as they are called in their Christian Language, often they fall short in realizing the suppose Lord and Saviour words of wisdom can only come from their own rank and nothing else, only those who speak their same language or act their culture are deemed spiritual or "From The Lord" and swearing in their doctrine He is all powerful and yet box up the very God they believe in in the culture they grown to embrace. If  God spoke thru a donkey to Balaam in the old testament, can' t he speak thru headbangers, or beer drinking musicians in today's world? Non-conformity to worldy values, by like drinking, smoking, or dressing indecently and the alike or espousing biblical values does not equate you're Christian...Christianity is never an exact religion nor its truths exclusive to a sect, just as music is never exclusive...The church (as a congregation of believers) per se is not an authority but a student or learner of the ways of the faith. Even your own church leaders have flaws....Christians seem to forget they are still in a fallen world and they are very much a part of it just like anybody else, believers or non-believers.

No wonder the state of the world is at its worst not because there are plenty of evil around but, there are millions of Christians who misrepresent The very God they believe in...When Communist Russia was at its peak, where Christianity is forbidden and the bible outlawed, the Christians survived  inspite of the restrictions because, the very core, life and essence of it was spoken not by quoting verses but translating them in their culture, via their artist, novelist, writers, poets, etc...a language the ordinary understands. Feodor Dostoevsky wrote Brothers Karamazov and other novels,  there where little or no bible verses but only stories of peoples lives and how they have been portrayed by the character, you can deem their values as Christian without the suppose verses, again did God spoke here? Yet many Russians held on to Christianity thru their own countrymen's ways of commuinicating via their arts and novels or what have you.

Now in this part of the world the Philippines labelled as the Only Christian nation this side of the continent of Asia, can you say we are portraying Christianity at its best? Its ridiculous how even this forum is not spared....

Am not anti-christian nor pro its just go find the proper forum in advocating your faith. Think before you click, ...remember its not the so called outcast or the waste of society that crucified Christ its the religious legalist...

IIRC - moonstar88 ininterview sila sa "zack & joey in the morning" (NU107), then napag usapan yung method of writing nila,
lyrics, message ng songs etc.
then joey said, so Christian rock ba kayo? the the vox answered : di naman Christian rock, siguro Christians in a rock band.

"Have I told You Lately" covered by Rod Stewart in 1993" na naging common  sa mga wedding events, was originally composed by Van Morrison, he made it after his religious convertion  and obviously "it's a song of praise"..  Maayos pa nga pakinggan... iba kasing Christian Rock puro ingay lang walang dating... kung para sa talaga sa DIOS yan, Aba dapat maayos naman at disente may dating at hindi barubal pakinggan..
