The first thing I noticed when I tore up the shrink wrap of “Whoa Pilipinas” was this pamphlet thingy attached to it. At first I assumed that it was the lyrics and thank you’s, but it wasn’t just that. It was thick with lots of things typed on it. Para syang nobela! There were written explanations of the songs and their relevance, coupled with facts and statistics, and an explanation of the band’s history and purpose.
While reading this pamphlet, I listened to the songs one by one, enjoying every bit of revelation which the combination of music and information provided. Some were shocking, some made me sad, or nod in agreement, and a lot of times it made me laugh.
I was disappointed to flip through the last page and realized that I already got to the last song. I wanted more!
This album is worth more than its P300 price tag. It gives more than gut piercing vocals and music that makes you start head-banging. It gives you an enlightened conscience. The way the album was packaged gave forth to a whole new listening experience that can’t be achieved if it was a pirated CD/mp3 without the additional written material. Sulit talaga
Congratulations to Datu’s Tribe! After the long wait, your album is finally out! Ang lupit ng mga kanta nyo!
