HELP! Sonor 1005 or Low end of Pearl

Expert pls help planning to buy new kit ang choices ko ung Sonor na 1005 type na type ko kc ung sizes ng tom nun specially ung 10 tom or Pearl na Low end.  Just wondering sa price, ung Sonor 33k w/o cymbals pa un then Pearl is 31k ano b mas maganda? pls help...ty in advance

Ask your nearest JB if they still have Sonor 3003. Sa JB Pampanga meron, naka-sale for 49K (with bundled ZBT cymbals). Sell the cymbals for, say, 12K-14K. So the Sonor 3003 will cost 35K-37K. Maple with Basswood na yun bro! Good mid-level kit. That's the best deal in my opinion.

i saw a Pearl Export Series at JB Trinoma for only P36k...it's really affordable!

plus, it's already a Pearl...the name is already there. what more could you ask for?

Thanks mga sir sa comment and ideas nyo hirap tlga mag bitiw ng pera pag 2 or more choices ang pagpipilian mo.  I really luv the sizes ng shell ng Sonor 10,12,14,20, but Pearl, ahhhh! sumasagi sa isip ko ung brand na Pearl...whoooh...hirap....i think i will go with Pearl, no,  i'll go for Sonor, no its Pearl....haaaayyyy! buhay! sensya n kau kung pati kau nadamay sa problema ko, well anyway i really appreciate thanks though.....

Masyadong underrated lang talaga ang Sonor.

agree ako dun kung 31k budget mo at mag forum ka dagdagan mo na lang. export series na lang. nasa 30k  lang yun kung sa raon. konti na lang dadagdag mo kung sumobra sa budget mo  na 31k. pero alam ko di yun aabot ng 40k. pero nasa sayo naman yan kung mag sonor ka or forum series. opinion ko lang naman tutal malaki din kasi budget mo.
eto yung pics ng export series na binuo namin dati nung tambay ako sa isang branch ng yupangco.

pearl is pearl.. sonor is sonor.....

in my experience with this two brands, i like pearl at my first years of drumming

it's just basically because everybody's talking about it, just that...

sonor on the other hand, even at the first time i heard that kit during a concert

i gotta admit, it ain't bad... we have a 1005 here at our recording studio, and all i can say is WOW... even master ** said "this is the most underrated drum kit"

all i can say is why risk on something that's already been the best?

common why wont anyone take their risk on something that mess with the best..

Ganito yung kulay nung 3003 na naka-sale (Black Sparkle):



Yun nga lang, 12/13/16/22 sya, not your preferred 10/12/14/20. Instead of a 1005 9-ply basswood, why not get na the 3003 9-ply maple/basswood. The maple will make the difference in sound. Plus, you get 10 pairs of lugs for the kick and snare. May hardware na to, pedal, 2 cymbal stands, hihat stand and snare stand. Just have a ready buyer for the bundled ZBT 4 Pro (if you don't want them) para within your budget pa rin yung kit.

About the Pearl Exports, if you want your friends to say, "Wow, Pearl!" then by all means get a Pearl. But if sound is your priority, you MIGHT get a little extra with the 3003s at just a few thousand pesos more. 

Also, I think the Sonor T.A.R. mounts are superior than the Pearl I.S.S. mounts. There's just something about the ISS mounted on the hoops that I don't like. Parang it creates undue pressure sa hoop (since the whole weight of the drum is supported by the ISS via the hoop) which might alter the drum's tuning. Another possibility is the hoop warping especially with larger, heavier (14, 16) toms.

^ Yes, I agree.  ISS tom mounts can be quite unstable, and it can cause warps on hoops due to pressure.  I know someone who is pretty much a hard hitter on the drums, and his Pearl toms' hoops (mounted via ISS) got distorted.

A solution for this is to periodically rotate the ISS mount.

btw, you may also consider the mounting system of the kit you'll be buying...

by default, Pearl Export series are already using ISS mounting system. check the mounting system of your desired kit first, since it enhances the sound of your toms.
