Post by: toybitz on October 02, 2007, 03:25:52 PM
Don't you guys think its about time?

I hope he does a Z Clinic here...the Master is...getting old eh.

There were rumors like 3- years ago di ba na si Vinnie sana yun clinician?

Yup.  Not yet.  I have two dream clinics.  Sana makarating sa Manila someday sila... (1) Steve Gadd; and, (2) Vinnie Colaiuta.

And it's known in the drumming world that due to his grueling recording, gigging and touring schedule, Vinnie rarely performs on clinics nowadays.

Vinnie Colaiuta...  What more can I say?  We all love him.  8-)

To those who have Multiply accounts, visit my music page.  I have a page dedicated to Vinnie, featuring some of his impressive recordings --- http://anthonydio.multiply.com/music/item/97/Vinnie_Colaiuta_101 .  I also uploaded some special drum solos and lessons (all audio/mp3) from his past drum clinics.

My music page is viewable to my network only.  In case you can't see the contents, just add me up to your contact list.  8-)

kakabilib nga talaga! super taas ng musicality, kahit anong genre! bro anthony, bakit hindi kasama yung album ni sarah geronimo? di ba sila ni laboriel ang involved sa isang album ni sarah geronimo?

^ I noticed that the discography doesn't have any list of 2008 recording credits yet.  So baka hindi pa nasama yung Sarah Geronimo recording, if that's a 2008 recording.

Pero Sarah Geronimo's album was released last year pa ata or 2006 pa. I'm really not sure kung si Vinnie ang pumalo sa lahat ng tracks or selected songs lang. Try to get a copy of that album, nandun sila ni Laboriel sa credits.

Pero may mga narinig din ako na hindi lumabas yung kulay ni Colaiuta at Laboriel, kahit daw kase sa US ang recording, dito naman sa P'nas ang mixing... How sad... :-(

I know it's silly but is Vinnie Colaiuta gay?

Please don't hate me for this, I love Vinnie, he's one of my most favorite.

I noticed on this Vinnie video...Vinnie talking about the A Customs.
feature=related

I kinda noticed how Vinnie talks on this video. He's a littlely-bit soft on how he speaks and describes the cymbal. It's my first time to see him actually talk on a video and I was surprised on what I noticed.

I'm not judging him, I'm just surprised.

Again, don't hate me for this. I love Vinnie as much as you do. In case he "is", as a fan, it doesn't affect how I look at him as a drummer.

hmm...could this be the reason why his wife left her???

^ First of all, I just merged your topic with this Vinnie Colaiuta tribute thread.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't see anything wrong with the video.  Just like most true artists, Vinnie is as deep and as complex and as twisted and as eccentric.  He's most likely a cultured and sophisticated individual.  But I don't think he's gay.

Some guys are soft with their manners of action.  But that doesn't always mean they're gay.  Same goes for other "soft-spoken", "graceful", and "finessed" drum gods such as Terry Bozzio, Chad Wackerman, and perhaps the late great Tony Williams.  Anyway, kapag tumutugtog naman sila... Brusko!  Mamang mama!  Hindi matamlay!  Always a strong performance!  And for us, that's what matters the most.

I guess another way to find out is to ask the local drumming icon who knows Vinnie best & have met him years ago...  Mr. Benjie Mendez.  But I think I already know what Bagets will say regarding that.  8-)

thanks for merging it.

it's my first time to hear and see him talk that's why I had that first impression.

i really don't think he is, either. my impression just got the best of me.

anyways, i still love and respect Vinnie as a musician and most of all as a person.

my apologies to you, Vinnie...

btw, is he still a Yamaha endorser? i just came back from his official site and from the "Links" page, there's no Yamaha link, but Gretsch. I also saw this video showing Vinnie's kit and again it's Gretsch. does this mean he's with Gretsch now? if true, awesome acquisition Gretsch! too bad for Yamaha...

Yes he's been endorsing Gretsch since he left Sting years ago, I believe.  Vinnie is a self-confessed Gretsch lover.

I think he'd fit perfectly with Gretsch than with Yamaha...

Can't wait to see his Signature Snare!

Yup, tama si bro peeves.  Gretsch's 10" toms are like that.  And I believe some of Sonor's 10" toms are like that too.  It's alright to have 5 lugs/side on 10" toms.

^ Yet he gets better with age!  And he's busier than ever with his countless gigs and studio work.  Hence, it's rare for him nowadays to conduct drum clinics.  Though it would be nice if he would have some kind of a one-man clinic world tour, before he begins to mellow down, if you know what I mean.

Every Vinnie disciple must grab a copy of the March 2007 Modern Drummer issue, which features an exclusive interview with Vinnie.  It's exclusive because they mentioned that Vinnie is a hard man to track down because of his very busy schedule, which makes it rare for him to entertain interviews.  And Vinnie mentioned about his distaste on clinics.  Anyway, it's a must-read.  Try to look for it.  It's one of the most profound interviews I've ever read.
