got a 900 dual reverb back in 09. shame to sell it for around 600 bucks! its a pretty decent amp for its price. it has junk sovtek power tubes and marshall preamps when i got it. it was really cloudy but i switched those w/ jj 6l6's and and as far as for the preamps, i tried to mix a dozen combination to suit my taste from tungsol, jj, ruby, mullard (R.I. & NOS thanx pareng bart!), electro hamonix, svetlana till i found it. not sure what i ended up with. i think its still loaded w/ jj's n eh's. not sure! but it still does the job!
performance wise, its very versatile for a high gain amp as long as you like a thick, raw, heavy and lots of mids! it may sound from a chip compare to 800 but 800s doesnt suit my ear unless siguro high gain lee jackson mod. if i still have my dual recto, jsx and 5150 II and my current, laney gh50 and this, and ill choose w/c one to keep, ill pick this one. *no offense to the user
its not as chunky and bassy as mesa's.. american high gains aint for me..
5150, very nice amp! but i dont need all the gains and when i turn it down, its half a$$ed,
jsx, SATCHurated, ds1 in tube amp. very loose..
gh50, manipis (compare to 900), maybe beacause its 50wts.. im planning to switch to kt66 so it could have a lil more body but havent tried it yet and wala talaga syang clean channel. have to turn the pot down.
but to be honest, sometimes nanawa na din ako but heck! couple of turns from the knobs and im good!
