Brand New or Used(2nd hand) drum items?

Brothers! Which do you prefer? Brand New or Used?

Ako muna.. Start tayo sa SNARE DRUMS

Brand new snare drums cost much but was never been used. Second hands cost less but was used countless times already or if not, used pa rin and might have some battle scars such as scratches, loose threads, or if none ulet, used pa rin.. Hehe.. Hindi naten alam kung ano na pinagdaanan na nun..

Anyway, all of my three snare drums were bought brand new(hindi po sa nagyayabang. for discussion purposes lang). There's this one snare drum na gustong gusto ko makuha, dagdag kasi sa collection at sound variations pa. Unfortunately, it's not brand new anymore.. I was thinking of getting it already or saving more pa for a brand new one..

Kayo ba? How do you handle this kind of dilemmas? Thanks!

i always buy 2nd hand first, brand new kung walang mabiling 2nd hand. wala naman pagkakaiba sa tunog yung 2nd hand at brand new kaya dun na ko sa practical na choice hehehe

+1 kung maayos naman condition ok lang. Kailangan mo lang talaga check ng maigi for issues. Wouldn't think twice about buying 2nd hand. Nakatipid ka na at pag hindi magustuhan puede mo benta at cost or minimal lang yung loss.

halos lahat ng gamit ko 2nd hand mostly dito sa PM. kailangan lang maigi yung pagtingin mo nung item lalo na pag may duda kayo.

If you have funds then of course settle for the new ones.
Pero sympre, may mga drum stuff pa rin na kahit 2nd hand umaabot pa rin ng 10k above.

If budget is no problem, go with the brand new. Pag hindi "go for the second hand and make sure to bring a tuning key just to check if the tension rod is working properly (). drum skin napapalitan naman, scratches minimal, hoops napapalitan din...IMO

Depende yan sa tao, for me most of my items are brand new, dahil atleast mas assured ako na may babalikan ako pag may problem sa product. mas madaming tempting offers dyan na 2nd hand,kung  lahat 2nd hand e binili ko a super hoarder nako,mahilig pa naman ako mag gas,hehe

all of my cymbals are bought in stores,same with my set.most of them, tsaka i hate the hassles of meet ups(malas ako dyan), may ilan na akong kamit ups dito dati na biglang magbabackout pag nandun na sa mitup(moderator ka pa naman,)
kaya siguro that resorted to me na bumili na lang ng brand new kahit mas mahal.
tsaka one more thing,pag kakilala kita at na earn yung trust kahit mas mahal yung product mo e kukuha ako kasi nandun na tiwala

as for 2nd hand items,the only thing that i bought 2nd hand as i remember e starphonic snare kay Master Pao Vivas, kasi i trust this guy,nakapag hang na kami sa drum gatherings plus my kick ass customized snare e gawa niya,at alam kong maingat siya sa gamit.
madami akong gusto na items dito na 2nd hand(yummy snares) pero for practicality wise i don't neeed them all.
happy nako sa items ko,i think dark cymbals na lang ang hahanapin ko.

so if your buying 2nd hand items or kahit brand new check pa din ang item at mag research,baka kinahoy na yung parts(sa guitars at bass e nangyayari to)kung original lugs,etc.

so in the end,it depends on you, your money and what you hear.kasi i have 4 snare drums(hindi din nagyayabang po) pero i always resorted to my customized snare kasi napakaversatile niya(i don't know why) from a jazz gig to rock e konting pihit lang e go na.

kung maliit lng difference ng used at bnew, sa bnew na ako. kung bibili man ako ng used kadalasan kilala ko yung gumamit. di ako bibili ng gamit sa alam kong malakas pumalo

I go for brand new if the budget allows it.

I go for 2nd hand if it is in good condition(lugs, bearing edges,throw-off, etc) and can be repaired easily. 

Syempre lalo na pag made in USA.

depende talaga yan sa budget e
pero marami dito sa PM na brand new sa halagang 2nd hand
sipag at tyaga lang sa paghahanap at matinding dasalan na makahanap ka

tulad ng sabi ng iba, kung may budget ka, go to b.news na.
unang-una, mas sigurado ka sa products na makukuha mo because galing talaga iyon sa store. may matatakbuhan ka kapag nagka problema sa product mo. Kung minsan din kasi kapag 2nd hand na eh mejo gamit na gamit na yung product.

i am not telling na hindi maganda ang 2nd hand pero dapat marunong kang tumingin and pumili ng taong pagbibilhan mo. There are people na talagang maaasahan pag dating sa 2nd hand products. hehe

seems youre a guy more comfy buying new stuff, if your heart says buy new..buy new...there are still good benefits buying new..


for me, 2nd hand is the way to go, ...cheaper, practical, and if you dont want you can sell easily due to the low price point ...added bonus kung mabenta mo pa na may profit, lalo pag presyong adik mo pa nakuha..

I think for drums, especially snares...there really isnt much parts or technology involved, a thourough visual inspection makikita mo agad kung worth bilhin or hindi.... and the most abused parts is the easiest to replace..
