Silly Pickup Model Names
« on: August 25, 2014, 03:15:17 PM »
What's with the names of the pickups nowadays? Parang pangalan ng robot ng Transformers. Dati, pickup manufacturers name pickups based on the characteristics (e.g. PAF Pro, Super Distortion, etc ....)

Titan, Illuminator, Pegasus, Sentient ..... Anong tunog ng mga to?  :nosebleed:

nuno : n4 2.0 n4esa, n4vintage, n4 silver sparkle, n5, n6, n7, n8esa
etc : yjm, axis, jp6, jpxi, jp12, jp13, lp 58 vos, lp 57 ri, lp standard, lp trad, am strat, am tele deluxe, jem7v, uv777, rg prestige, j custom, deluxe reverb, vai legacy, jcm900, axefx

yung sa BKP give you a sort of puzzle to work out what tones the pickups are supposed to be based on.

Some are obvious, to me, anyway, since they're in the "genre" i typically listen to:
Blackguard, Country Boy, Brown Sugar and Yardbird (tele)
Apache, The Sultan's, Slowhand and Mother's Milk (strat)
Stormy Monday, PG Blues, Riff Raff, VHII, Abraxas, Black Dog and Rebel Yell (buckers)

pero I have no idea where the names are from for a lot of the names for the higher output stuff on their site.

Dimebucker and Humucker from Hell are cool pickup names but the coolest has to be X2N. its like some top secret biohazard/bio-warfare chemical they don't even have a nickname for.

Sheptone's "Red Headed Stepchild" is right on the borderline for silly.
