kung may mahihiraman/mapagrerentahan, the best yun  :) sobrang konti kasi ng events na pagsusuotan mo ng tux, kaya personally not worth it to buy.

..bowtie (I say, get a legit one tapos for keeps na sayo forever) - deins pwede necktie. ok lang yung cheap kahit sa Daiso mo pa bilhin yan basta yung legit na bowtie.
..waistcoat aka. vest - wag na mag cummerbund, doesn't look sharp at hindi pwede gamitin outside a tux. get a good one from Onesimus or sa dept store. yung medyo makintab na walang pattern, black. also, kahit anong sabihin ng salesperson sayo, kumuha ka ng full back waistcoat, para magamit mo naman sa ibang event. circa 500 meron na.
..pants - yung may makintab na stripe dun sa leg seams. circa 1K meron nito
..jacket - yung makintab yung lapel. prices vary wildly, so good luck sa paghanap ng magandang deal! kung may mahiram, ayos  :-D
..dress shirt - yung pang patay, may frills sa harap pero please wag yung masyado shiny, kahit yung sakto lang basta may frills. ewan ko price nito, baka sa tiangge meron nito. you can scrimp on this, basta ok ang kwelyo at maganda ang butones.
..patent leather shoes - pakintaban kayo ni kuya guard

good luck!  :)
pag nacombine mo na yan, oks na!

Thanks sir sonic! Now I'm thinking na suit na lang ang bilhin para mas magagamit ko. To hell with the theme (1920s Gatsby).

Pag suit anong advice niyo sir? hahaha pasensya na not a formal guy pero want to try haha. Edit ko title ng thread.

good choice! and frankly no one can really tell the difference except the ones who know the difference
(tux: bowtie, shiny lapel, shinly strip on pants, shiny shoes. suits: whatever)

screw the belt - use braces! by braces meaning "suspenders." hindi uso ang sinturon noong 1920s. medyo modern invention ang belt at belt loops bilang pang-secure ng pantalon. and braces were considered underwear, so the consensus was that it should be covered by the waist coat. kaya kailangan yung triangular flap thing ng chaleco mo ay abot hanggang waistband, para matakpan yung clips. also, generally, fashion faux pas ang belt plus waistcoat, so talagang mapapabraces ka. buy a simple black one, ok na yun.

Ang polo, since naka suit and tie ka na at hindi tux, pwede nang walang frills and shiz. dapat white, dahil dinner. the farthest you can go from there is baby powder blue na plain. pag dinner the best ang plain texture, walang pattern.

as to the tie, be conservative and classy. I'd pick a nice silk red, a satin blue, or a cotton violet tie. it could be anything basta classy. kung pwedeng ilagay as burst color ang tie color mo sa gitara or drums, pwede yan. Also, since naka waistcoat ka, dapat hindi sumisilip ang dulo ng tie sa waistcoat. may  mga nagtutuck ng tie nila sa pantalon, but don't be that guy. tie it so that the point end is hidden when the waistcoat is closed.

ang sapatos, pang tatay, yung naka sintas at bilog ang toe. Black lace up Oxfords are the best. better if walang mga patterns and [gooey brown stuff]. for a suit and tie affair, hindi kailangan yung super shiny patent leather stuff. pero dapat pinasadahan mo naman ng kiwi. pwede rin ang dress boots, medyo astig yun, at mas comfortable.

Well may iba na both maganda, sobrang mahal nga lang hehe

for suits, it's still best to have one custom made for you. yung mga off the rack hindi maganda ang fit. either maluwag, or mahaba masyado. :|

ok pa din talaga na meron ka, at custom fit sayo, better have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

cufflink and studs pala nanghihiram ako or bumibili ng not so expensive  :-D

4.5k per set last time I was there.

Parang si Tony Soprano and his crew ang dating pag suot mo na.

I'm lucky to have off the rack jackets that fit well on the shoulders, tapos ang adjustment lang na kailangan yung length ng sleeve (easiest alteration on a suit jacket btw). I don't feel the need to have a custom made one kasi super wild ng fluctuations ng waist size ko kaya isang suit jacket na lang with the right shoulder and torso fit (pag payat) then waistcoats of different sizes to accommodate my fat levels. that way I don't have to wear an ill-fitting suit when I'm really fat, I just keep the jacket open.

sa divisoria maraming magagaling na mananahi. they allow you to choose your cloth of choice. usually yan 5 yards ang aabutin +- 1 depende sa built mo. a yard of tela ranges from 75/yard to up to 600/yard sa mga high-end. tapos susukatan ka nila. then pababalikin ka after 2-3 weeks for final fitting. labor would cost you about 3500-5000

it's undeniable na cornell's ang sikat, based sa mga kakilala ko. nalalayuan lang ako dahil sa makati pa.

I'm planning on buying as many off the rack waistcoats as possible whenever I get the chance.
