all about SNARE DRUMS thread
« on: July 28, 2006, 05:01:49 PM »
"hello guys. newbie ako dito sana welcome ako dito." :D

help naman... balak ko kasi bumili ng snare. eto ang pinagpipilian ko

TAMA - (Mike Portnoy) melody master $569.99

5-1/2" x 14" maple shell with die-cast hoops. Special design throw-off sets to 3 positions (off, loose, and tight) to give you 3 distinctly different sounds

or

PEARL - (Virgil Donati)  $359.99

The VG-1450 Virgil Donati signature snare drum features a 14” x 5” shell with 4 outer plies of 100% Maple over 4 inner plies of 100% Birch. The 8 ply shell produces a super bright tone accentuated even more by the 4 inner plies of Birch. With a rounded top bearing edge many drummers will find that they can play this drum wide open without any muffling.

papadala ko from states. so kahit wag na tignan yung price. yung quality kasi ang tinitignan ko. gusto ko yun bang hindi ko pagsisisihan. parehas ko naman sila idol eh. so hingi lang ako ng payo niyo guys.

thanks!

Medyo partial ako sa Tama kasi hindi talaga pumapalya ang hardware niya e, at saka ok ang maple niya. So yun.

ah ok. antay pa tayo may mag comment na iba.

meron pa nga si portnoy na 5" x 12" hammered steel shell with die-cast hoops. kaso ayoko masyado maliit and ayoko ng steel.

welcome! hehehe

parehong high quality yan but you said the magic word: price does not matter! so why limit yourself to those two?

my impression is that your choosing a name when most buyers would be more conscious about the sound. there are a lot of other equally good or even better snares out there (some at a lesser price too)

research  :D but first of all, what do you want to hear from your new snare?

sir thanks!

ano yan collection? lol
bat dalawa lang.
id say the virgil donati.

or mapex black phanter. hand hammerd brass or traditional maple or birdseye maple. u cant go wrong with black phanters.

honestly u cant get the sound what you want from ur idols.
magugus2han mo lng pag narinig mo na.

kung ayaw mo ng high pitch, u need more than 5" depth.
depends sa tuning.
so i recomend blackphanters
just me.

Ano mas ok:

1. Signature Snares or
2. Snare na kasama sa set? mid-high end (session, masters, starclassic, superstar, 3005, maple custom, etc...)

personally I'd go for the set snares... :)

wala lang just wondering whats the majority on this?

Whichever snare drum that sounds good to you and to your listeners & fits the music right (whether it's a signature model, a snare drum that matches a drumkit, or a snare drum that is "sold separately") is always a good snare drum. 8)

I'm just wondering, ciro...  Why did you choose drumkit snares?

but if you wer to choose lang? which wud u preffer? like if you have money to buy a chad smith or virgil donati snare or a session or masters? somethin like that?

syempre nasa tunog tlga yan but we have to admit we all have our biases..

set snare rocks! mas ok pa pag snare na hinde signature pero sold seperetly! (e.g. ultra cast, floating, supraphonic).

opinion ko lang to mga bros... kaya taka lang ako kung ano gusto ng majority?
