FRUSTRATED MUSICIAN/GUITARIST?

sana hindi mali tong thread ko about guitarist padin naman eh..



im 19 now last year of teens i start playing guitar and having my band since 3rd year high school
and im freshly graduate from two years course in computer.(nahinto ako 1 sem before mag college). so i almost 4 years in playing guitar.(3rd yr college ako if 4 yrs course kinuha ko).sana hnd magulo kwento ko hehe...
i have a band before but not exist anymore..
and i have a new band nakakatugtog naman maayos yung banda napagkakakitaan din minsan if my demand samen..
 
 
 but i think masyado na malaki yung panahon para sakin i have no achievement in playing guitar.. as a musician..
upgrade ako ng upgrade ng guitars, effets pero naisip ko para saan?wala naman din atang patutunguhan sayang pera lang at panahon!

are you frustrated because you cant be the musician you want to be? or are you frustrated because you dont have the passion anymore?

if you're getting bored ng pajam jam, pa sifra sifra, maybe it's time to write your own songs. i think it's worth it to take on that new challenge, if music is really your passion. otherwise, bakasyon ka muna. pero, just in case mag decide ka mag break muna from playing guitar, sana make sure ang kalyo and dexterity ng daliri mo di masyado mabawasan

just to be sure uhm,, hmm,, i'm not actually a frustrated guitarist, I can do a lot of things with my guitar, but being just a plane good or a higly technical fluent guitarist doesn't actually make you a good musician. there's is a thin line between being a guitarist and a musician, but it will always be different.

I would say I am definetly a frustrated musikero and not a frustrated gitarista.

exactly my point. sa case kasi ni ts, he's getting frustrated with his guitar playing. maybe hindi guitar playing ang forte nya or maybe he just wants a new perspective in his playing. whatever the reasons are, if he really loves music, and he's not going anywhere with his skills, why not try creating his own songs.
your right, being a good guitarist and a good musician is different. roy orbison, john lennon, mike hanopol, heck, i'd even throw in rey valera, and countless others, were never regarded as guitar virtuosos, but they were able to make great music. no one ever said that songwriting is easy. that's why i referred to it as a challenge. and i think, it's a challenge that should you accept, you have nothing to lose. but of course it's up to TS. no one will make decisions for him. he has to know what he wants first, then take it from there

if you play the same thing over and over it'll get boring..i was in a showband when i started playing guitar, its was fun the first couple of months (getting paid too)..but it was that rush in learning a song that kept me going but it'll eventually flame out if you dont give that song(songs) a break.. and i do other projects too that are related to guitar(setting it up etc..)

but i also have projects like converting my favorite soundtracks to guitar style(its fun for me)..you may laugh if you want but these are the ones i want to redo/cover at the moment

1.sumuipra nako ng mga solos dati pa inral ko kasama na yung mga youtube cover then sipra ulit like, smoke on the water -deep purple, 214-rivermaya, then dance of  eternity-dream theater(hindi natapos)  for the love of god(kalahati or wala pa sa kalahati)
saka marami pa too many to mention saka syempre yung iba pondo or pyesa na ng banda or sakin lang..
andyan yung influence ng wolfgang,raizorback,giniling festival, mga tinutog
i can say ok naman ako magguitara kahit hindi sya yung kuhang kuha pero nagagawan ko naman ng sariling version as possible na pasok at bagay pa dun sa kanta..

siguro nagseself pity lang talaga ako now may mga nakakasama naman ako na magagaling na band and guitarist like my cousin( sya yung nagturo sakin magguitara a year in playing guitar good soloist.. forumer din yun dto pero diko imemention..
i idolize like paul gilbert,vai,malsteen,petrucci, my cousin syempre master haha.. saka mga local din di mawawala yun..




marami namang nagsasai na magaling ako ok malinis maayos magguitara pero sa sarili ko hindi ganun bitin padin yung sarili ko hinahanapan ko maapreciate ko yung sariling talent ko/...my passion in playing guitar hindi man ako makuntento kung ano nako ngayun siguro mahaba pa naman ang panahon eh im only 19 yers old yung iba nga dyan 30+ na nagsimula sa music di ba pero yung kagustuhan nila dun sa napili nila yun ang naging daan para maging magaling na musician.if wala pa kong napapatunayan ngayon sa sarili ko..

Actually the thread is so good,as an artist we are still human, and still have have our own passion and emotion,kumbaga every note is a learning experience, heheh!

Present. 2 months na ata ako hinde nahawak ng gitara mula nung nakabili ako ng lappy. tinatamad na ako mag ingay. Haha.

An laki ng nawala dun sa improvement ko kaya tinatamad na uli ako mag umpisa.

di naman ako nagsisisi na medyo malaking pera na rin na ubos ko sa pagbili ng mga gears.

Magagamit ko din naman yun pag umuuwi ako ng province namin. Yahoo!!!! Ang sarap magingay sa palasyo namin. Haha. Solong solo ko yung bahay. Hihi.

Tsaka naisip ko din. Magbakasyon muna dito sa libangang ito. Pero NEVER ko ibebenta yung mga gear kasi frustrated na ako.

A musician will always be a musician. (pagpasensyahan nyo na ang english ko kung may mali.)

alam ko sa sarili ko na babalik din ako dito.

Narealize ko rin yung "rockstar mentality" lakas makafrustrate nyan.

Buti nawala yun sa akin at napalitan ng eenjoy ko lang. No need to be a rockstar.

I'm a bit frustrated sa banda pero hindi sa pagiging gitarista, minsan di ko na type yung mga kino-cover namin na kailangan mong plakaduhin ng tama dahil tutugtugin nyo sa upcoming gig, nawala na yung enjoyment na dun lang kayo sa studio tumutugtog & nag-eenjoy kayo-kayo ka lang, which is the main point kaya kayo tumutugtog, na iplease ang mga sarili as musicians at walang pressure in front of an audience. And how about may isa kayong bandmate na hindi na nag-improve ang level of playing samantalang kayo your striving hard para lalo kayong gumaling, frustrating sa fact na dumudumi yung practice nyo pag tumutugtog na sya. Sorry I'm just venting my frustrations...

Last year, I got so excited learning new tricks and didn't realize I've been buying gears here and there. When I looked back and checked my bank account, it's when I realized that I spent more than what I really need. And to make it worse, I don't even have a time to enjoy it all.

you know Bhaah, pareho tayo, mas worst pa nga ako e, i'm thirty now and up to now nagi-ilusyon pa rin aq na one day magkaka-banda pa din ako na swak sa gusto kong klase ng musika,yung mga ka-banda ko kase nung high school mga nasa abroad na,sa case ko mahirap magkaron ng bandmate sa ganitong age,maswerte na lang kung ma makilala ako na nasa ganitong age na din,me family at dayjob na gusto pa ring tumugtog sa gabi,even my wife dini-discourage na aq at tinatanung ako bakit pa aq naga-aksaya ng panahon pagi-gitara kada gabi e wala naman akong banda,ni hindi ko na nga minsan alam qng anu pa ung pa-praktisin ko e, hehehe, pero at least kayo mga bata pa,marami pa pagkakataon,nung time ko kasi hndi pa ganito kadali mkpag-internet,tsaka wala pang philmusic noon,wala ka mahihingan ng advise sa mga bagay-bagay regarding music,kaya wag ka ma-frustrate,marami pa pwde mngyari sa inyu,hehehe,iwan ko muna kayo at ako'y magi-gitara muna

Dami nakaka-relate sa TS, hehe.  Bata ka pa bro, madami ka pang time on your way to being awesome, hehe.  Madami ka pwede gawin to minimize burn out, like their suggestions, learn new songs/genre.  Create your own music, etc.

Anyway, medyo similar ako dun sa ilang nagpost dito, I am also a 30+ geezer na nahinto more than 10years din yata bec of other stuff (work, family, kids, other interests).  A year ago ko din lang uli naibalik paggitara when I broke a finger doing a sport I love (buti yung ring finger of my picking hand).  Since then I try to squeeze playing time whenever I can.  I dont think I am progressing as much as I'd like but at least I've learned a few more stuff within that time na nagstart uli ako.

 my frustration: schoolwork takes away my time for practicing.

i started playing guitar back when i was 13, and now that i'm 18, i don't feel like i've improved a lot given the duration that i've been playing guitar. i always look forward to short vacations though, where i could make the most of my practice sessions picking up from the wealth of guitar information found from the web.

like what the others have said, there are times talaga na dumadating yan. I've been in a band since grade school, my first band was a christian band that plays for a small christian ministry. Drums pa ang instrument ko noon, up until my high school. I bought my first guitar when I was in 2nd year high school for the reason na matuto to play and to impress girls (who doesn't? hehe!). When I was in college, I was the vox of my band and occasionally plays the guitar. Naaalala ko pa dati noong college, bago pa lang ang Kamikazee and chicosci, minsan nakakasabay namin sila mag-perform. But our band never really made it, kahit maka-pwesto man lang. It did frustrate me, BIG TIME. It even caused me to stay away from music. But after sometime, I realized na gusto ko talaga makatugtog. So I started writing my own stuffs, at hinanap ko pa yung mga naisulat ko dati nung high school and college. kahit alam kong di magki-click sa iba, I don't care, as long as I can satisfy my urge to play and express my self thru my music. Mind you, I am not a good guitarist, I'm just an average guitar player.

Siguro give yourself a break muna. Para ma-miss mo ang pagtugtog, hehehe! I think giving it a break will help you to ignite the flames inside you again!
