g2.1u more natural sounding harmonics... light.. needs booster to release the power of the Drive module..

gfx5 - crunchier drives but sounds too thin to my ears.. heavy

I'd rather save money for a Peavey Vypyr, or Vox Valvetronix amp. Kahit Line 6 Spider pwede pa.

Invest your money on gear that you won't let go rather than have something quick. Medyo magtitiis lang na di makakuha ng gear agad pero I'm sure mas makakatipid yun than GASsing, buying, and selling gear, etc. frequently.

i'm a newbie here in philmusic and i'm planning to buy a multi efx pero hindi ko alam kung anong maganda pinagpipilian ko e zoom g2.1u or gfx5..anu b mas magandang gamitin sa gig??  :?kung me ibang multi efx pa kayong maissusuggest ok lng po as long as kaya po ng budget ko..help naman po sa mga master jan..tnx in advance!!  :-D

lets look at the good points and bad points..

*patches: stored settings on your effects. (either preset or user defined)
*bank: a set of patches

g2.1u:
good points:
- fast patch switching
- metal switches (durable tapak tapak capabality)
- compact (you can put this inside your guitar gig bag pocket)
- compact ulit (you can chain this to other pedals and it will still fit in your pedalboard)
- 96 khz sampling and 32 bit processing rate (better quality sound)
- Usb port with Cubase LE bundle CD (PC recording capable)
- Low noise
- ZFX3 processor (some kind of a real cool microchip.)
- New Zoom logo hahahaha

Bad points:
- you will have to navigate through the patches using just two switches (up and down, meaning if you have 3 sounds that you use in a song and you're in #1, if you want to go to #3 you will have to press up two times. not really good if you need multiple patch settings for a particular song.)
- only 54 types effects stored
- patch memory is only 40 (no biggie. I only use 16 patches in my G7.1ut)
- Its harder to edit patches.
- You can't put patch names (you will need to remember what letter and number your distortion patch is.)

GFX-5
Good points
- 3 patches per bank! means that you can assign a bank for a particular song and save 3 different kinds of settings and effect combinations there. (no need to go up up up if you're in patch #1 and you need to use patch #10)
- manual mode (you can select a patch and activate manual mode and its going to be like using 3 individual stomp boxes)
- Easy patch edit (no need to turn knobs for a whole day just to get 1 patch to sound good)
- Customizable user patch names
- turbo and edge key (great for distortions)
- 60 user patch memory
- 74 effect types
- Sampling capability. you can capture 6 seconds from any input source. you can record a riff for a guitar part or a song that you're trying to learn and also slow/speed up the sound. (good for composing)
- Energize feature!!!!

bad points:
- slower patch change (merong sinok. dala ka lagi ng tubig) *sinok = noticable split second silence whenever you press on a new patch
- NO USB! (no biggie.. andyan naman si 1/4 to 1/8 plug converter)
- UGLY ZOOM LOGO!

so ayun.. cross out mo nlang ung mga features na hindi mo nman talaga masyadong kailangan and then decide on what would be the most suitable for you..

Sa tingin ko nman there's nothing wrong with buying an entry level gear lalu na kung hindi ka pa familliar sa sound na gusto mo or sa pedals na talagang kailangan mo etc etc. For me mahihirapan akong bumili ng isang bagay na talagang mabigat sa bulsa if hindi ko naman alam kung ano ang hinahanap ko. I think it would be okay to explore on things that you still don't know or not yet familliar with and then just upgrade later if you think its already necessary. We can look at it as part of our learning curve.

Para sa akin mas mapapamahal ako kung bibili ako ng isang gamit na maganda talaga as an investment tapos ibebenta ko lang din kasi iba pala ung gusto kong tunog.

Maganda talaga kung sa amp mang gagaling yung dist or drive.. pero parang mahirap lang kasi kapag sa gig or practice dadalhin mo pa yung amp..  :-)

The good thing about it is that you'll be sounding consistent. That's important.. Gives some assurance.:)

Actually 50 watts is good enough. My girl bandmate before, back when she was still singing while playing guitar, uses her Line 6 Spider 2 30 watter. Nakakasabay naman sa mga amps na ginagamit ko which was ranging from 50 to 100 watts.

that seems to be a good idea.. im thinking of using 2 amps for live gigs (para nagagamit ko ung stereo ng multi ko).. any tips? pwede namang gumamit ng splitter dun diba?

put one amp in front of you and the other sa audience. yung nasa harap mo will serve as your monitor so you can hear better what you're playing or if you're still in tune, etc..  :-)

usually when using a passive na splitter, the signal is also cut is half.. therefore, yung volume mo will be shared.. kunwari 100% volume mo.. if you use a splitter na nasa output ng MFX mo, one amp will have 50% and the other, 50% din.. that's what i experienced.. maliban nalang if you're unit has a dedicated LEFT and RIGHT output..  :-)
