Title: Philmusic Cleanup Drive *merged*
Post by: boypalo on March 16, 2008, 01:49:30 AM

Actually, you guys have the power to police yourselves.

The problem lies in identifying where one is impinging on another's "freedom-of-expression", something that seems to be so little understood nowadays, as is the definition of 'morally offensive'.

i suppose that's a NO.hehehe

thanks anyway sir :-D
Title: Re: suggestion

i suppose that's a NO.hehehe

Not in the slightest.

We DO our best to minimize the number of nonsense threads, and there are quite a few that leave us scratching our heads in amazement (which we eventually act on anyway), but the success of any thread depends on how many of you subscribe to it. Like I said, you also have the power to police the forum as well. If you don't like a thread, either ignore it or question it's importance in the scheme of things. If it's entirely nonsensical, it will die on it's own and will be relegated to the archives eventually.

Pareho tayo ng gustong isuggest. Tsk.

okay mods i don't wanna be rude or be mean...
but i'm just suggesting a clean forum.

like a certain classified section post must be deleted within a limited amount of days.
still right now the classifieds section is full with items which were sold months/years ago.

plus unecessary thread that have no sense should be deleted too.
certain topic reposts should be deleted too.

i know it's hard being a mod but instead of locking a thread why not delete it?
that way we can maintain this forum clean.

plus we should observe proper forum etiquette i mean i see topics that can quite be offensive to others.
therefore we should not use Vulgar words or words na bastos.
this is PhilMusic guys.
not FHM or Playboy.
if you guys wanna talk about things like that there are thousands of sites who would be happy enough to accomodate you.

hope to see your remarks.

We again get to the adage "it's hard to please everybody".

So I guess the words to live by here are "your rights end where mine begin", "mutual respect" and "live and let live".

In my observation, Philmusic has been very liberal where the tendency is to allow rather than to restrict. Which is quite good IMHO. Let each person's personality shine forth.

So there. Very basic rules, so long as nobody gets hurt, anything goes :D .  If you find anything inappropriate, just hit the "report to moderator" button and we'll weigh and see if we can do something about it.

ouch!  :-D

i guess you haven't been noticing...

I've been deleting sold items, and am deleting at least a page per day off the old ads back in 2007 since Aug.

hi folks! maybe the mods already have thought about this. why not delete those very old topics from the boards? especially in the classifieds section. sold, retracted and locked threads might be better off deleted.

i understand that the mods have their day jobs too like us. deleting hundreds if not thousands of old threads is not an easy task.

cheers! more power to philmusic!

not really the locked threads...

some of them are too controversial and popcorn-inducing to delete...the "eps" thread, for instance...

but yes, there are a lot of NONSENSE threads, particularly in Relationships, that are better off deleted.   :|

i agree with you, maybe deleting those threads would make this site run faster, and the search function will be available anytime.

how about a thread "expiry" date?

there are some locked threads that are left undeleted for research/reference purposes.also, simple deletion of threads is not that easy to do.(i am also a MOD from other forums/websites, this is just based on my experience.)

the messages in the forum are "legacy" content, googleable and part of our "long tail" of inventory for ad banners.

we were asked not to do so.

i guess threads which aren't ours won't hurt you guys.

boss gian, naisip ko lang, would it help and would it be ok if we delete some of our post (the relatively less important ones :-P) to ease the current heavy traffic and subsequent problems it cause in PM?  :-D

honestly, i don't know if it will help. hahaha!

theoretically it should.

IMHO, sa pictures nahihirapan yung server eh.

some of us will think it could be the pictures, it could be useless threads, nonsense polls, and so on and so forth but they are just mere speculations.

i know this is not easy to do and me completely understands that being a member here is a privilege not a right, but how about if the moderators OR administrators look for definitive answers on what is the real cause of the dilemma of this forum so that they could come up with a step by step resolution (I know the deletion of threads is one of the many ways) to fix things up

then maybe after that, they can post it in the faqs thread or all sub forums as a sticky(right term????) thread and have everybody read it to minimize slow server response.. just an opinion..
Post by: miguel0210 on February 07, 2010, 08:22:30 PM
Yung description nung section is "Absolutely no non-musical ads allowed!", eh halos lahat ng nagpopost dun hindi nga musical ads yung pinopost. Rockstar fragrance? Playstation Audio Interface? Cellphone mixer? Tapping shoes? Hindi ko alam kung di lang talaga nagbabasa yung mga nagpopost dun or what. Correct me if i'm wrong and kung voided na yung "Absolutely no non-musical ads allowed!" na description from the official rules of this forum.

Title: SITE CLEANUP
Post by: dj_flip03 on November 13, 2010, 01:09:51 PM
Mods/Admins:

If I may recommend...

Salamats!  :-D

Title: Re: SITE CLEANUP
Post by: KitC on November 26, 2010, 01:59:35 PM
Deleting relevant threads is not an option. This has been stipulated to the mods by the admins.

We keep threads for future reference, though we do delete nonsensical posts and threads once in a while.

Solution
- Report to staff ( moderators ).
Post by: KitC on May 10, 2011, 09:15:18 AM
Unless indicated by the TS, we have no way of knowing if an item is already sold or the transaction is already terminated. Rule of thumb suggests that if an item hasn't 'moved' for 15 days plus, then you can consider that post inactive.

We normally lock posts that indicate 'sold' or 'retracted' as an indication that the thread is already closed.
Title: Unclassified classified
Post by: alalala on November 27, 2011, 01:45:06 PM

Good day, On the kinder side, could it be better if we could allow trades that has at least one side being musical, like: "puppies for a guitar" or "my guitar for your puppies", since the bottom line is it still involves the musical need and satisfaction of one of the two parties involved. Blatant ads like "house and lot for sale" or "Slimming tablets for sale" are obviously not going to be allowed.
Just my opinion, no offense intended, since I see that there are buy and sell sections dedicated for computers, gadgets, etc, that are not musically related at all and times are hard nowadays and people want to refrain from using hard earned cash. Thanks for the time.

Hi! already raised that particular concern to admin before. as of now, we really have to stick with purely musical related transactions. I would try my best still to raise these concerns to further help out our fellow forumites. thanks for voicing out your concern! cheers!
