that's right! since we've been hearing a lot of our fellow drummers being victimized by thieves...one way of protecting ourselves is to secure those serial numbers of the cymbals.

OO nga!  Ewan ko ba bat ako nagkaganito!  Admittedly, mas fascinated ako sa cymbals kaysa sa drums.  Mas enjoy ako mag play with a very good set of cymbals with just a decent set of drums than a very nice drums with awful sounding cymbals.  I started collecting these 20 years ago.

Ok tip ni sir Dio!  Good thing is I don't do gigs anymore, hobby ko na lang pag ddrums kaya hindi na sila lumalabas ng bahay.  Kung meron man, mga small parties na lang ng barkada.

Haha!  That's the great grandfather of my cymbal collection, way back 1978!  Got it 2nd hand from forum member "dictatone"  A great classic ride sound!

All my cymbals are Zildjian.  I don't have a huge cymbal collection, but I want to have and build-up a good-enough collection of cymbals someday which I can use for my personal pleasure and for fulfilling my musical needs.

Right now I'm very happy and contented with the essentials.  Currently, I'm playing these cymbals:

14" K Custom Dark Hats
20" K Custom Medium Ride
17" K Custom Hybrid Crash

Yup they're the essentials, and I can pretty much live with these.  Though I would love to have one or two more crash cymbal/s, a second pair of hats, maybe a second ride cymbal, and a bunch of effects cymbals.


I also used to play a few cymbals which I've already retired.  These are:

16" A Custom Projection Crash - I used this for 4 years.  It grew a crack, and so I retired this cymbal with a bang.  On summer of 2006, I played it for the last time on a back-to-back gig with South Border, then had Paul Benitez of SB play this crash for the last time, then had all the members of SB sign the cymbal.

17" and 18" K Custom Dark Crashes - I got these cymbals second-hand from my good buddy Bennii Obana.  The 17" recently got a crack, so I decided to retire it.  The 18" already had its hairline cracks when I acquired it (at a bargain price), so I had it cut after I wounded my finger from one of the nasty cracks hehe!  But these crashes still have that spirit in their sound, and are still playable.  So I thought of just saving these crashes for future studio recordings.


In terms of collecting, I'm more of a snare drum person than a cymbal person.  But like I said, I want to have a nice cymbal collection someday.  Sana ma-sponsor din ako balang araw gaya ni bro Dindin hehe!
