Just my 2 cents ha.. Kung di rin lang branded at well known na line array system ang bibilhin, i suggest na go for point source enclosure na lang. AFAIK, line array system are carefully designed and measured kaya maganda yung result nila. Matagal na experimentation, not to mention selection of drivers ang ginugol nila before they could come up with a prototype. Kung DIY lang, sigurado na maraming destructive interference ang mangyayari for sure. Why not go for a point source system na lang.. pwede rin naman i fly sila.. A very good example yung Function one, turbosound, void.

if the OP really want to make a DIY line array i guess he could look at the design of the dynacord cobra 2 or 4, their design is so versatile and simple that you wont even have to fly them, plus you can use them alone (1 box) plus subs, but still it would take a lot of r&d to make it sound right

I think the topic for a suggested "line array" DIY enclosure design has shifted to conventional China boxes  , you may want to give this a try  - BIEMA.  There may be some questions on durability and sound quality (since it's China-made)  but the price may be attractive for you  .

Suggested boxes were likely to be reflex type cabs which are good when using them on indoor events, but there may be some issues when use outdoor. If the thread starter wants an all around cabs, i guess he will really have a hard time looking for one. Yan ang problema sa sound reinforcement, me mga trade offs palagi sa mga speaker cabs na gagamitin sa specific na venue. I have read a lot of technical papers about sound theory and it appears na tama nga sila. I do agree na kailangan ang tenga pero still we cannot bend the law of physics. Just take a look a particular website na kilala, almost always meron mga category yung mga product nila. Merong pang touring, installation, small venue etc etc. So to summarize it, even experts do had a hard time in making an all around speaker cabs.

we also have a passive version of this.

somebody commented on having 2 or more drivers can sometimes have cancellations. thats true. AERO 38 has also 1 driver unit. but very very powerful and still be crisp and clean at very high level. ND-10 very reliable.

Yes.  If you are looking at around the price range of the JBL VRX, then you should also look at the RCF NX Series, both have been targeted at the same market segment.
