Shure SM58 VS Behringer Xm1800s/Behringer XM8500
« on: July 29, 2010, 11:06:33 PM »
Hi guys,

I have Behringer 1204FX USB mixer, and a friend gave me his Behringer 1202 mixer, 2 JBL EON G2 Powered Mixer . What will be the best microphone? Shure or Behringer? We have s string ensemble consisting of violins, keyboard, double bass, flute, vocals, beatbox, guitar, cello. I need your suggestions! As of now wala pa ung mga equipments sa akin padating palang from US. Ano pa bang kulang para magamit to the fullest tong mga equipment n to? I want to know anong microphone maganda, pinagpipilian ko ang behringer xm1800s at shure sm58. sabi nila ngongo daw ang behringer pro mdadaan sa mixer.

Thanks mga sir! God Bless.

IMO, mas comparable ang Shure PG sa Behringer XMs. Masyado na malayo ang SM58 at SM series compared sa Behringer XMs.  :-D :-D :-D

Audiophile na official distributor ng Shure.
SM58 sa kanila is around 5K brand new. In the long run, mas ok talaga SM58 in terms of quality and durability. A better investment in other words

We have a set of XM1500s when we usually gig. They are ok in terms of sound and can take a small beating and still work. But compared to a SM58, the clarity and response is way better on the Shure. Plus im quite confident na mas matibay ang SM58.

Yun nga lang mahal talaga yun compared to the Behringer XMs. 3 XM1800s = 1 SM58 in terms of cost.

3500 for a bnew SM58, medyo di ako sure. unless the seller has authenticity proofs, ill go for the official distributor.

Oh I see. in terms of sound ok din pala talaga ung behringer. Pero tama po kayo, matibay talaga ang shure and I think karamihan Shure sm58 din talaga ang ginagamit.

Here is the link of the seller http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/2008346/Shure+SM58-LC+Vocal+Microphone+(Brand+New)?referralKeywords=shure+sm58 nung nag inquire ako pag tatlo daw binili ko 3.3k each na lang. By the way, saang audiophile po maganda bumili?  :-)

di ba sm57 ang recommended for instruments? anyway i have both a behringer (forgot model nasa utol ko kasi ngayon) and an sm58. i stopped using the behringer after i got the sm58 pero one time sinubukan ko pang mic sa guitar/amp and i preferred the sound over the sm58.

i also have a sennheiser and parang may mga voices na mas bagay ang shure yung iba mas bagay ang sennheiser.

personal observation lang on a non studio setting from a non pro.

Hi :) madalas kmi tumugtog sa wedding and corporate events. Based on my observation, when a client is providing the sound system, sm57 is good for violin and percussion. sm58 for vocals, flute, beatbox, double bass and cello. Based on other forums, according to them ok din ang behringer xm1800s kaso when it comes to durability, longlife, etc shure pa din talaga ang panalo. Di ko padin alam kung Shure ba o behringer ang bibilhin  :-(

Kailangan ba bang pagisipan yan? Wala pa yata ditong nagsabing mas maganda ang Behringer. Lahat nagsabing "sure" ang SHURE! (hehehehehe)

acceptable na ang beh XM for live... pero for recording siguro where people can concentrate listening to your voice/instrument dapat shure SM hehehe... i have a SM58 and i can tell pwede talaga pamukpok ng pako ang mic! one thing that this mic has(have?) is the output transformer... i dont know how much that improves the sound and technical aspects but... it feels good to have it there.

the XM's are comparable to the shure PGs like he said above. the PG58 is about 75% the performance quality of SM58. IMO

Mga sir salamat sa mga advice.

Behringer xm8500 costs 1,700 sa joint venture. Ito daw ang pantapat ng behringer sa shure sm58 sabi ng tech ng joint venture staff. I'm planning to buy 2 behringer and 2 shure.  :-)

By the way, I have 2 behringer mixer 1202 and 1204, 2 JBL eon g2 (powered), pano kuryente nito? extension lang ba? or kailangan pa ng other power source. HELP!  :-)

well yung XM1800s are total crap.madli mag dent yung ball mesh thingy pag nabagsak. Pero yung XM8500 is a real jem. Mas matibay and maganda yung sound. And hindi rin madali mag feedback.

Don't just believe what other people say since they are essentially SELLING it.  Joint Venture is the local distributor of Behringer and it comes naturally for them to brag that Behringer is the best.  Don't compare apples (Shure SM58) with oranges (Behringer XM8500).

Salamat sir. I'm planning to buy this microphone na din tlg, buti nalaman kong hindi pala maganda ung 1800s. :)
