Protools is for Mac right? Nice! Thanks sa mga share! Siguro nga little experiment is needed too, mas madali na nga lang ngayon kasi andito na sa thread lahat ng pede simulan.  :-D

Kahit PC puwede ang Pro Tools. With PT9, kahit onboard soundcard lang ng laptop tatakbo ito.

Pro Tools is both for Mac and PC. It's been that way since 1998. ABS CBN has 22 Pro Tools suites running on Windows right now.

Kahit PC puwede ang Pro Tools. With PT9, kahit onboard soundcard lang ng laptop tatakbo ito.

Pro Tools 9 is really flexible. It can run on your on board sound card, or it can aggregate your sound card and 3rd party audio hardware. You can even run Pro Tools HD 9 on your laptop without the need for the HD hardware.

Cheers!

Digital Performer by MOTU  :-) DP can do anything as you can imagine. the built in pitch correction, sequencing window, tracks view, color management, automation handling for mixing, clipping windows, soundbites, interface, movies, scoring etc. one of my favorite plug in for DP is the Red Pre Amp, best Pre Amp that ive heard. i have tried Ableton live, good for "Live" and DJ's, Acid, Garage Band, Cubase, and SONAR which ive been using for 6 yrs. but until i have used DP. This ends my story searching for a good recording, mixing, software. Havent tried Pro Tools though, Too expensive, example when trying to use powercore by tc electronics, the price for the PT is twice as much, but the plug ins would still sound the same. and theres nothing that DP cant do like PT, DP also have the color scheme and window view option to convert it to look like PT.  Im Using DP as DAW and Reason for Midi and sampling Sequencing.

Just installed Pro Tools 9 on my MacBook Pro. Solid as a rock even when I'm using just the onboard soundcard. No latency at all

Reaper is the simplest of all. although it lacks some features but it can do a lot of things.

And you can make your own Plugin using javascript.

It's cheap, and uses very little system resources.

Resource management is one of the key strength of PT 9.
I use my PT HD 9 on my MBP with HD Native on a Magma EB1H and an OMNI, and I can run full 192 tracks complete with plugins and all, and my CPU usage is just above 35%.

As sir KitC mentioned, this issue is subjective.

What we can do is, choose your audio interface & usually, it will come with fair amount of Limited Edition (LE) DAW SWs that you can try out.
Cakewalk, Cubase, A.Live... etc... then select from there & upgrade to the full version. In which i believe will have some discount 'coz you have the LE version of it.
Or, some Computer Music Mags includeds DVDs with sample or even full version of freeware DAWs.

For some reviews that I came to read good about DAWs, i had selections between... Mixcraft 5, ProSonus StudioOne, FL, & ALive.

I chose Ableton Live. Primarily 'coz i've extensively used its Lite version. & just compared reviews from the latter.
Now, I'm pretty stoked with its non-linear approach to comping & the linear recording is cool enough for me.

happy DAW hunting

BR & God bless

I "personally" keep away from any software that requires a dongle or iLock!!!

I know....it's to prevent piracy and all that stuff, but it's still a pain in the a.. for the legitimate owners.

And dongles and iLock have not prevented cracked software anyway!!!

Btw, I teach at Benilde and we recently installed 11 PT 8 Le / Digirack 03 systems at our audio labs. The authorization process was a bit tedious..imagine going through the iLock process 11 times!!!

But, as I get to know PT more, I am both loving,,,and hating it, too! LOL

I wish it had quick bounce and freeze track functions...to name a few missing features...

Sonar user, here.......
