Hi-hat grooves/fills...
« on: May 13, 2007, 03:35:35 AM »
experienced or matagal nag "da-drums" tulad ko. Ano sa tingin nyo yung mga magagandang
excercises or way para madevelop yung pagiging "malaro sa hi-hat"? Kayo nung bago

Salamat sir.

Lahat ng rudiments applicable naman most of the time, lalo na yung paradiddles. As long as the bass drum ang snare drum have consistent pulse, lahat pwede  mo gawin.

Ex.

1    e   @   a     2     e  @   a      3     e   @    a     4     e   @   a

accented notes in red.

using those rudiments...

i agree with triple eighth notes, 16th notes, and even 32nd notes. haha.. then try doing more accents. pag nagawa mo na yun, you can already make sweet grooves from the hats. if you could continue doing those, eh di maayos. :-D

How to practice?...not a master here, pero eto pa isang approach ko dyan; Play along with some funky,or any grooves on cd while practicing all the rudiments on your drumpad. Nevermind kung sa left o right hand bumagsak yung down beat; basta play the rudiments (including the hybrids) like a parade drummer.
Have patience; mag e-evolve din yan thru consistent practice and experimentation.

Good luck,bro!
So Be It.
