Title: Alter Bridge -- Blackbird (New Album)
Post by: trem3 on August 07, 2007, 10:38:47 AM
Blackbird's US release date is on October 9th. (Hindi ko pa alam kung kailan sa Pilipinas)

Listen to their first single called "Rise Today" (http://www.myspace.com/alterbridge)

Nice.

I love One Day Remains, but Tremonti had a tendency to overplay most of the songs. Parang nakawala sa kural - as if his playing had been suppressed for years in Creed and had this irresistible urge to prove to everyone just how good a guitar player he really is.

I'm hoping he's already got that out of his system and has setteled down a bit. Those two tracks in the band's myspace account seems like a good indication.

I got the album. The songs are pretty much the same sounding. The drumming is a bit repetitive. Nothing new in the album, just a few nice songs. I dig the songs: Black Bird, Come To Life, Coming Home, White Knuckles, Ties That Bind, Brand New Start.

I have Blackbird.  Got it thru a friend who came home from the states.  I can't agree that it's the same thing with ODR.  It feels a bit darker than the first album, influence din cguro ng guitar playing ni myles kennedy.  Check out the track Blackbird, Buried Alive, and Come to Life

And what's the deal with overplaying?  Mark is a great guitar player, if not the best right now, malaki improvement nya from Creed.  I think his playing on both albums are flavorfully crafted.  I don't him overplaying, coz it sounds real good, pinaghirapan ung melodic aspect, compared to other guitarists out there who rip out fast blazing solos everytime.  Not that Mark Tremonti can't be amazingly fast on the fretboard.  Anyone who has tried to cop his solos will know that.

Rock music is guitar-oriented, it helps that the lyrics are good and vocals are catchy, but we appreciate it for the axemanship.  Astig to, the best band out there for me.  ;-)

It sounds ok to me
I've been playing it over and over at work... Just to absorb the sound.

Check out Blackbird.  Slow-tempo song, but well constructed, has "rock classic" written all over it.  Interesting guitar melodies there.  I love the solo on Brand New Start.  Then the opening sequence on Buried Alive.  Of course you have the staple Rise Today and Ties That Bind.  White Knuckles kinda reminds you of Bullets in the Creed days, don't it?

I like what they did with this album, good album but slightly different in overall tonality from ODR.   :-D

Tremonti hates creed, he said in Revolver.

Tremonti hates creed, he said in Revolver.

I wouldn't be surprised.  Here's another quote:

Interviewer:  What message would you have for creed fans holding their breath for a reunion?
Tremonti:  You'll die!

IMO, Scott Stapp was a hard man to get along with during the last creed tour.  Even if he had his fair share of health and personal problems, he became suspicious of everyone around him, and it was finally breaking point for everyone in the band.

Then imagine every reporter asking them, "so how is the band yada yada yada..... compared to your [band's] days in Creed?"

Scott Stapp drunk:

hahaha i read this one  :-D
The guys are better off without Scott Stapp, they can do so much more with their music now that Miles is their vocalist. He has a very high range in terms of voice plus he is a very solid guitarist, giving Tremonti more room for his guitar solos. Just listen to "Ties That Bind" and compare those to any of Creed's heaviest song, it doesn't even come close.
