i was thinking of making an easy to carry pedalboard set up for quick jams.
i think a good 4 pedal setup for me would be a dd7(or any of the boss dd's) + blues driver + shredhead + wah
what's you're "bare bones" set up?

Hi sir,
Like what my bro said, ako lang po gumawa nung footswitch sir. Total gastos was cheaper than a second hand orig Classic 30 footswitch. I think this one's also better since may LED pati aluminum enclosure (unlike the plastic one sa orig footswitch). Although the one i did requires a 9V power para pailawin yung LED, pero i think pwedeng passive lang yung footswitch kahit may LED. Hindi ko lang sinubukan gawin. :-)

Kasama sa Voodoo Labs na Pedal Power. Have to order from the U.S. the L-type barrel or make one myself. The Openhaus has no provision for battery and it runs on 18 volts. The Maven Peal Howler also runs on 18 volts -- so I got all my slots filled up on the ISO 5. In fact, I am using a y-cable to power one of them.
The patch cables are for trial until I figure out the permanent placement of the pedals -- heh heh given that there is not much room to move about.
Probably will use expensive lava patch cables -- though my problem is that they are not shorter than six inches.

Heh heh. Heavy nga.
It took me some time to get the 'bone crusher' stuff together. The openhaus was made by Ed Rhembold for me and I thinks its serial number#4. I got the Maven Peal when it was first offered for sale. And I was lucky enough to find a vintage TC Electronic Distortion plus Line Driver in New York. The RMC Wheels of Fire was easier to get. Finally, the ISO 5 from pedal power (220 volts) came out which becomes the centerpiece of the whole pedalboard with an 18 volt output. I couldn't assemble the board without the right power supply. Ideally, pumaboard sana but I haven't got myself to spend on them yet because I have two larger gator boards which are heavy too. Guess don't know when to start replacement.
Generally, I find the Pedaltrain too small in the sense that I have to crowd pedals together. I found out that I like lots of space between pedals for easier footswitching. I also prefer my power supply to be accessible and infront of me at all times so that I can troubleshoot imemdiately. And finally, I prefer my wires all out front -- both patch and power cables -- so its easier to diagnose and change if something goes wrong. Thats why I think I will order the low rider model from pumaboards.

You should definitely give it a go sir. :-) as for me, i liked the drive of the C30 and the footswitchable reverb was a bonus so i really needed the footswitch. it's fun to DIY, too. :lol:

The Best High Gain Pedal period. It kicks Metalzone butt and is more flexible. Even the other so called boutique metal pedals cannot hold a candle to its clarity and ability to fine tune the EQ. Unbelievably, it can turn clean tube Fender amps into metal monsters without farting out the bass. Just an incredible pedal and I am saying that since I have the pedal for about two years now. Walang sinabi mga MOD na walang kwenta -- dami nito sa classifieds kasama ng kung anong anong pangalan at personality na gimmick.
CONS: It only runs on 18 volt. No provision for battery. Has a larger footprint than boss or mxr.

Sa lahat ng dirt pedals na nasubukan ko, yung Tim ang pinaka-versatile. Di nga lang umaabot sa metal territory. If I need metal, I just kick in the dirt channel on the amp I'm using.

may i suggest a nice clean boost pedal? since you have two very good drives already and your replacing the comp, maybe what you need is a pedal to enhance your clean tone. :-)

i was thinking of making an easy to carry pedalboard set up for quick jams.
i think a good 4 pedal setup for me would be a dd7(or any of the boss dd's) + blues driver + shredhead + wah

My "barebones" setup (usually pag sobrang rush) doesn't involve a pedalboard, I just use my Squier Telecustom I, cable and Laney Lx65r. Sometimes if MASSIVE (lulz) rush I'll just use the venue's amp. I use the neck pickup for cleans then the bridge for dirt.
It doesn't count as a barebones pedalboard setup but it's literally a barebones setup though. Hahaha :P

I set my amp louder than usual.. and then just roll off the volume using the guitar's vol knob...
when I do solos, I just hit the delay and roll my guitar's vol knob to full volume... and then solo clean...

Yup! stand-alone drive pedal ko siya The EQ is always turned on. Yung setting nung EQ sa picture, ganyan mismo yung lagi kong setting kahit saan ako tumugtog. The setting shapes up my clean and dirt tone A LOT. Ibang iba yung tunog kapag naka-off hehe.
Para sakin okay na ako sa BM as a stand-alone. Almost max level ang treble. Yung bass a little less than the treble's level to get the grit-sounding overdrive. Gusto ko siya kasi dynamic siya. Even at 12 o'clock gain, I could still play lightly, basta control lang And also, I don't do solo lol! I'm the only guitarist in our band, so I pretty much depend on the delay. Kadalasan kasi puro kaskasan lang ako, kaya mejo low gain lang para rinig pa rin yung kaskas ng strings hehe. Iniisip ko nun kung ibebenta ko ba yung OD3 or yung BM, napansin ko lang na mas kayang maging grit-sounding at malutong ng BM. Mura pa at madaling humanap hehe! sorry haba ng reply ko haha :D

Yup! stand-alone drive pedal ko siya The EQ is always turned on. Yung setting nung EQ sa picture, ganyan mismo yung lagi kong setting kahit saan ako tumugtog. The setting shapes up my clean and dirt tone A LOT. Ibang iba yung tunog kapag naka-off hehe.
Para sakin okay na ako sa BM as a stand-alone. Almost max level ang treble. Yung bass a little less than the treble's level to get the grit-sounding overdrive. Gusto ko siya kasi dynamic siya. Even at 12 o'clock gain, I could still play lightly, basta control lang And also, I don't do solo lol! I'm the only guitarist in our band, so I pretty much depend on the delay. Kadalasan kasi puro kaskasan lang ako, kaya mejo low gain lang para rinig pa rin yung kaskas ng strings hehe. Iniisip ko nun kung ibebenta ko ba yung OD3 or yung BM, napansin ko lang na mas kayang maging grit-sounding at malutong ng BM. Mura pa at madaling humanap hehe! sorry haba ng reply ko haha :D

pinag-iisipan ko rin ibenta yung isa kong drive pedal at bumili ng BM and also use the BM as stand-alone drive pedal. :-D

hindi nga pre. tatanggalin ko ds-1 mag may big muff, vice versa. mix ang match. depende sa trip ko at mood basta 3-4 pedals. yung footswitch wala lang yun pag maganda amp sa studio dala ko lang lagi FS. Lots of options! WASAK NA WASAK! :lol: classics collection muna. yung mga tipong never ko ibebenta. tsaka na yung iba pa yung pwedeng trade trade :-D

I've been an overdrive guy for the past 7 years and it's only now again that I've experimented with distortion pedals. Right now I'm just a happy camper with the Riot and Rat. Playing overdrive pedals are still my main thing, but I must admit it's a treat using distortion pedals and it's been a fun learning experience. :-)

Disadvantage nga lang If you will use the ts9 side as boost. the pedal activates one at a time ,meaning di mo sya pede gamitin ng sabay. good thing I have a separate od for it. kakakuha ko lang din ng jemini I might sell it in the future though. :lol: :-D

do that! do invest in pedals and also in a tube amp! :) you have awesome guitars already! :)
but really go for amp next before the pedals. if you spend that much on guitars, then there is no doubt you can spend those much for really great tube amps!

I love this thread..actually..I came to realize..during actual gigging conditions..you only need the most 4 or 5 pedals..because, 1. the hassle of carrying 21kg worth of pedlas plus flightcase is not worth a 3 song gig with most of the audiences are the bands.. tsaka na pag sikat at big band na na kaya na magafford ng roadies..hahaha

pag naka off wala naman po. On itself, without any dist or drive, just the boost(about 1 oclock), wala syang hiss. pero pag may dist or drive meron ng hiss.one more thing sir, normal ba yung sobrang muddy pag naka heel postion na yung wah? Btw my chain is guitar>Morley pow wah> shredhead> Dano trans drive> amp. (Shredhead dial- tone 3 oclock, gain- 12 noon, presence- 2 oclock. Gamit ni markcasq yung board ko dito. Paper cutter board. Fits 5 small pedals snugly. ^-^

THIS!! This board kept me GASSING for days! Pinaka mismong bare bone board na natry ko evah! As in like totally! The paisley is super smooth man! Tapos paired it pa with the piggy the spring chicken and the delay! What more can you ask for?! Spot on! Baka labas nito nicks eh icopy ko ung rig mo! Hehe IDOL!!!

Meron pink version. Cuter. Hehehe.
Although for that pedalboard of mine, parang gusto ko ulit bumalik sa TC repeater. Sulit talaga ang merong tap tempo IMO. Analog delays talaga parang pang slapback lang tas low on the mix.
I'd like to have another small board. Me nakita ako whiteboard sa national bookstore. By the looks of it, kasya ang 3 small pedals. :wink:

I need about 18 inches of velcro. :-D

MISMO MARK!! pinagaralan ko lately..kasi nag start ako ng guitar hangout jams with some expats and guitar lovers here...sabi ko,ano ba dapat kong dalhin na hindi mahirap at hassle, pero MAXIMUM fun...so I came up with this.. tapos sama mo lang microcube you are all set!...fun yung G3..fun yung SHead and fun yung Wah.....wooot!

hahaha true! for a regular 3-4 song gig..3-5 pedals is enough..with the zoom g3 or any MFX.."less is more" ika nga!..actually I wanted the PT mini,since I really just want a grab and go board.. pero di ganun ka flexible yung dimensions niya to play around..especially if you want to mount a wah..

I bought it sa Valenzuela, sa isang street shop na nagbebenta ng netting, linoleum,trapal, foam insulation..mura lang yan mga 90 php 1 meter x yung length ng carpet roll..
Speaker Carpet yata tawag nila dyan..pero kung kukuha ka kunin mo yung mas siksik at yung next quality..medyo sablay kasi yung mumurahin kasi naghihimulmol paghila mo ng velcro..I think you can check out RAON as well..for sure madami doon..
mga retasong 3/4" plywood lang yan..tapos konting drill..konting screw lang..Im sure..malupit yang buboin mong DIY board..Post ka pics! Cheers!

I solved this problem by getting a Little Tiny PG. Now I have another problem. I have an extra pedalboard--and I feel the need to populate it :lol:

if i took away the phaser and the purple plexi, he would not notice it, and if he did, he wont miss it lol .... the only reason they are there was because i dont like seeing empty spaces on the pedal board.

I gought this camera Lens Bag this afternoon..and thougfht that it would be perfect for my barbones pedal board..I immediatley sourced for parts to make a DIY flat board...I love how its small and compact and well protected..I dont have to carry around a huge bag or pedal board..

Yeah bro, it is better to get a small one for convenience. I have one kasing laki ng laptop but still have the big one for the main events. Yung bare bone ko pang travel purpose if I am not bringing my car. Saka para sa mga rehearsals but sa final days of the rehearsals I still bring my main rig.

Been looking at this thread and I just can't fathom how you guys do it with individual stompboxes. I can't possibly tap dance during transitions. I rely heavily on a multieffects and switch banks as I go.
Hmmm...most of the tap dancing boards here are only used on bedroom gigs, hence no problems with transitions?

IMHO kahit wala na yun Polytune. decent naman yun tuner ng MS70cdr e. I can live with a TS type OD, the Amptweaker Tightmetal/PRO and a ZOOM MS70cdr :)

what will you use it mainly for? IMO, mas sulit yung ms-50g kasi mas marami siyang features compared to the ms-70cdr. decent din yung mga modulations, delay and reverb ng ms-50g tapos may latest upgrade pa ng software.

If you want a dedicated chorus, reverb, delay unit, get the MS70. Pero if you need the other effects that the MS50 can give, go for the MS50.

I used a bicycle chain to fasten the pedals. May kahirapan lang i-disassemble yung bike chain.

Di naman as long as organized na ang mga presets needed in a specific tugtugan.
Mas medyo complicated ba mag switch from fender cleans to marshall or boggie drives kc kailangan pa yumuko to tweak... hehehehe

hahaha meron na! selling used gear and stuff.... building the brand up... nothing too big or complex operations yet..still fine tuning here and there and testing out ideas...but its been great...the branding part is what Im working on now...get the word out...hahaha
I thought, instead of selling standard gear brands and "chinese" pedals like biyang,doublefish etc..why not just specialize on outstanding Filipino builders and their products...
...basta when you decide to go all out with your pedal line..lalo yung Klon Clone :drool:...count me in for support! :wave: :wave:

Ok naman pero space saver pag angled eh hindi pa mabebend yung wire.go to lazer, get the mooer DC chain with angled plugs. Mura lang yun, parang 200 pesos lang AFAIR. If not, buy from JB, yung one spot DC chain though medyo mahal yun.
Any advice din sa patch cables? The ready made ones? Tumingin ako sa lyric, ang laki ng plugs ng planet waves eh. Patch cables with pancake plugs ang gamit ko, yung iba sira na wanna try something new na hindi diy. Thanks!

last time i checked 600php un 6outputs? 900 un 800outputs yan sure ako sa 8outputs sa jb music.

patch cable? bili ka nalang ng pancake plugs 16php each, 1meter cable 70 (or kung may luma kang guitar cable na nakatambak pwede na un), soldering iron 60php, 2mtrs led 20php.
madami ka na magagawa dyan at adventure pa at masarap sa pakiramdam once matapos mo kasi ikaw gumawa ng patch cable mo. sobrang dali lang promise.
mejo naadik na nga ako gumawa may 15 patch cables na ako nagawa and hindi ko alam san ko gagamitin?

seperate ko ginagamit e. tinry ko icascade. di kinakaya ng noisegate ng tight metal yung gain at masyado naoover power ng tightmetal yung zendrive kaya parang useless din. btw nung cinascade ko, nasa 5 lang gain ng tight metal at 0 sa zendrive.

ah dahil lam naman natin kung alin yung nasa last chain yun ang mas aangat,
kung pagbaligtarin mo, after yung zendrive tapos alalay ka sa gain ng tight metal.

natry ko nadin na sa huli yung zendrive. masyado dark sounding for my taste. oks din yung zendrive+keeley katana. cutting lead tone na hindi gaano gain-y.

Kakainspire ang minimal pedal set up.
Minsan sa dami ng pedals hindi naman na nga namamaximize ang gamit.
Mas mainam ang konti, mas matutukan ma tweak ang bawat pedal.
Mas madidiscover mo ang capabilities ng pedals mo.
Ahhh can't wait to have my own bare bones pedalboard.

Sir jmwreck pano mo naattach ang pedals mo sa board? What's that grey surface hehe looks goodvelcro yung gamit ko sa pag attach, yung gray ay nabili ko sa hardware, anti slip na pwede ilagay sa table or countertop, di siya self adhesive so nilagyan ko ng double sided. :)

What a neat set up! Mind sharing the following details? Your set up (part the cab sim bit and the XLR out) is something I've always wanted to build:
- What pedalboard did you use as a base?
- Which pedal creates the cab sim'd out?

Swedish death metal, yup I heard of it, this pedal became popular because of that genre, pero I'm not a fan of it
I'm using the other one a taiwan version at the top besides ms70cdr for shoegaze and post rock, or ambient effects..
or sometimes as an od, when its gain level all the way down, it produces warm od feel..
while at the bottom is a japan version, gnagamit ko ito always with a ts9 engaged, for lead or rhythm
i like the way it sounds when it is boosted with a ts9 while the hm2 not in full gain and treble knobs at 12 oclock
kinda like a rat boosted with a ts9, pero mas ok :-D
little trivia gnamit rin ito ni David Gilmour nung 80's for lead tones in his guitar solo blended with overdriven tones
noticeable differences i think konti lang, in terms of volume lang siguro and parang mas maingay ung taiwan I think

Kahit yung mono vertigo gusto maghanap ng lighter streamlined alternative...

Posting an old discontinued pedal board project from the early 2010's or probably even a few months prior to the said year. ...'coz why not & 'coz i had to stick to the topic. :)
This overall footprint fits perfectly well on a short bond paper sized board as long as i use flat-headed patch cables & have the pedals elevate about 3/4" above the button-type switches, by the way.
