5. Eric Clapton and his other bands
6. Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne
7. Metallica

9. Guns N' Roses (who wouldn't know Sweet Child of Mine?)

in no particular order: metallica, led zeppelin, pink floyd, the jimi hendrix experience, the beatles, kiss, black sabbath, sex pistols... probably a lot more but i can't remember for now. -_-

We're talking about rock and not Metal of course...
making a guitar solo is similar to writing an essay; you start with words, which make up sentences, fragments, and paragraphs.  but what makes it cohesive is the story, the emotion, the style, the feel, and the passion to express oneself.

1.) metallica - my first "metal" immersion :twisted:
2.) black sabbath - metal at its roots... N.I.B.!!! 8)
3.) dream theater - prog rock/metal at its versatile form  :D
4.) nirvana - well i really dont dig them but 'teen spirit really made me sink in to the rock scene in the mid 90's.
5.) guns n roses
6.) red hot chili peppers
7.) oasis (well, their "wonderwall" and "don't look back in anger" pushed me to learn guitar way back in high school, and honestly, eventhough they are not the "best" act there, noel gallagher was my first inspiration in playing the guitar)
8.) led zeppellin - stairway, immigrant song, wholle lotta love, heartbreaker.... damn cool classic riffs...
9.) eric clapton - blues [gooey brown stuff]..... 8)
10.) smashing pumpkins
