like you maybe, i tried so many times bago ko nagawang magdowload ng avatar here sa philmusic.
anyway, what i did first was i went to a website for avatars--- www.avatarist.com--- then i chose in one of their selections, click on the avatar i chose, then i clicked on use as forum signature and copy paste--- avatar direct link sa profile ko (edit profile) sa avatar control panel--- link to off-site avatar--- i-paste mo yong nakuha mong avatar URL from avatarist.com.
try it now...it works, you know :wink:

What I do is copy the image and paste it into photoshop (or any similar image editor), Resize it to the appropriate dimensions, then upload it to a photosharing site (well in my case I use my webhosting account).

i usually resize using Paint. it's quite easy, just select the whole image then go to Image and select Stretch/Skew. the shortcut key is Ctrl+W :)

Step One
Now that you are at your Photobucket main page, here you can create folders (called subalbums) to keep your picture collection neat. This is also where you go to upload your pictures. First we’ll go over how to create the subalbums.
Type in the box whatever you want to call that folder. Then click create.
Step Two
This is a picture showing that it went through and created the folder:
Step Three
Now that you know how to create subalbums, There is a box that has a number in it, that corresponds with how many blanks there are to upload pictures with. Use it whenever you have more than 1 picture to upload, it just goes quicker.
Step Four
Now click browse, and find where your picture is, and double click the picture. Here is a picture showing that the text box next to the browse button should now be filled with text, that should be the file path where the picture is. Repeat this with the other unused lines to upload more than one picture. Once you have as many as you can (up to 10 uploads a page) or as many as you want, click "Submit".
It will take a minute to upload, just let it be and it'll go just fine.
Step Five
After it's done it will bring you back to the page, and say that they were uploaded successfully. Scroll down that page and you'll see the uploaded pictures.
Step Six
Go to the IMG text box underneath the picture you want to show. Click it so it all turns blue, or highlight it all. Then right click it and click copy. This will copy this text out of that box.
Step Seven
In the post you want to put the image, just paste that text, nothing special, just paste the text in.
Step Eight
Once you finish typing your message, click "Preview Post". Do this to make sure that nothing is wrong with the picture. If it won't show up, try copying the image location from photobucket again (step six) and repasting it. If it goes fine (which it usually does), then click submit post and it'll post for all to see.

Nope I think we've been too lax already as far as avatar sizes go - in fact we need to clamp down on sig graphics sizes as well. Anyway experiment with graphic sizes and see how big you can get away with. :wink:

Putting your own avatars / How to use avatars
- Upload your own photo/graphic somewhere. You can use Photobucket, Google Pages, Geocities, etc. There are also some sites which offer avatar hosting. Ask the other moderators for suggestions, or wait for them to post a list of references here :)
- Make sure you get the URL of that photo (like http://www.domain.com/yourphoto.jpg)
- From the menu, go to Profile
- Click Forum Profile Information
- Select I have my own pic
- Enter the URL of your photo in the textbox
- At the bottom of the page, click on the Change Profile button

If it's 96 pixels and below, no problemo.

question? : since meron ng photo embed code yung sa frinedster is it possible na yung code na lng na yun yung ilagay sa loob ng "(http://)"... i ve been trying for awhile now and parang walang ngyyare.. is there any way to make this possible pati yung mga ibang embed dito sa mga thread? :-D

why don't the moderators put up a rule on the size of images uploaded? pwede lagyan ng maximum KB limit or even number of pictures sa isang post. alam ko medyo mahirap to i-enforce dahil madaming pasaway, pero i'm sure it'll help. kung kunyari sa classifieds kelangan ng mas maraming pictures, send na lang nila sa email. para hindi masyadong malaki yung bandwidth.

sir KitC, alam ko po mag resize pero sana may rule or regulation about the size of photos. para hindi masyado matagal mag load yung site. esp sa classifieds

Size is in terms of pixels so start with a height of 300 and width of 400 (landscape orientation, standard 4:3 aspect ratio). Preview afterwards and adjust to taste.

RE: Using Photobucket
There's an option in Photobucket where you can just post thumbnails of your pics, instead of posting them full-size:
So, after uploading pics to Photobucket:
1. Mark the pic (with a check in the checkbox) that you want to post
2. Scroll down, and click on "Generate HTML and IMG code"
3. A page will appear with several HTML and IMG codes. Copy the code from the box with "clickable thumbnails for message boards"
4. Paste the codes on your message

Avatars should be up to 100 x 100 pixels only. Will not work if the link exceeds that size limitation.

its much easier if your browser is Mozilla Firefox.
ganito gawin mo:
whatever pic you want to insert in an IMG tag (kahit saan sa net), right-click that picture and select View Image; copy the URL in your address bar and paste it between the IMG tags.
thats it.

I have been informed that photobucket is blocked by some companies. It has been suggested that picturetrail.com be used when posting pics from now on.
To all forumers, especially those posting pics in the Classified, we suggest using picturetrail from now on.

In photobucket, the easiest is to use the [IMG] field. Just click on that and it copies itself into the buffer. Paste that when typing your reply here in philmusic. Remember that a limit of 400 (w) x 300 (h) pixels is mandatory so that the pics don't come out fullsize in philmusic; this is required so that pics don't take forever to load. This is to accommodate our dialup forumers.

Ok, did you mean copy from photobucket using right click botton then bring to message and paste? This won't work though. I also tried "Additional option" menu down here in the message window but where can I copy and paste that picture I want to paste. Nakow hirap naman, trial and error parin pero puro error naman po, hehe.. Tulong ulit

The link to your pic can be viewed by right-clicking on the picture you want to include and clicking properties.
try right-clicking on my pic and look at the "location".
It should say
http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll323/IAmMaxwellEdison/Bitols2.jpg
highlight it and press ctrl+c on your keyboard. This is the copy function.
Now, add [IMG ]http://before the link and [ /IMG] after the link. (Without the spaces) You can paste the link by pressing ctrl+v on your keyboard.
We now have [IMG ]http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll323/IAmMaxwellEdison/Bitols2.jpg[ /IMG] (again, remove the spaces)
Now, I will type it without the spaces

voila!
Better yet, open your photobucket account then double click the text inside the "IMG code" box. Press ctrl+v to paste the link onto the text box in the reply window.

usually gumagamit ang mga tao ng photobucket account.
steps:
1. create a photobucket account
2. upload desired pics to account
3. to post pics from photobucket, enter or use direct link options of pics at isama sya sa post mo.
example: use the insert image tool na makikita mo pag-gagawa ka ng post. tapos paste the direct link in between the brackets. so may pic ka na kagaya ng

pwede mo i-edit yung width and height kung gusto mo.

Avatars are around 50 x 50 while you can post images up to 300 x 400.

This is especially irritating when browsing "gear pic" threads and the like. You expect to see different pictures for each post but then you get over 9000 quotes of any given post with the same picture over and over for the next 2-3 pages or so. :-(
I think there should be a rule against this. It might also save thread space if it was implemented.

Agree. We don't need to see the pictures over and over (9000... heh) again on the same page. It just takes a few seconds to backspace the image tags when quoting a post.
Site admins, could the pic-quoting function be disabled? In Invision Power Board message forums, there's an option to automatically remove embedded images in quotes. Dunno if there's something similar in SMF.

For the life of me, I can't find a satisfactory (read:step-by-step for dummies) procedure on how to insert/post/attach an image of a file located on my computer hard drive onto a message I'm writing. I understood from some other post here that it has to be uploaded onto a photo sharing site (which one??) and then what? Linked? How?
When I click that "Insert Image" button up there, all it does is create this: (http://). Now what? The blinking cursor stays in between the two bracketed words but you can't right-click to paste an image; can't Ctrl-V either. Clicking on the "Additional Options" down there and to the left of this message box opens up an "Attach" button which, in turn, opens up my photos window and allows me to attach a photo from my hard drive but it doesn't attach itself onto the message! I click the preview button and voila...no picture! Someone please help!

How come?...You could already get some avatars to use from sites like photobucket, imageshack, etc...
Probably your desired image is big and it already exceeds in the maximum size of the avatar...
You have to edit your desired image size first then upload it again... :-)

This requires a modification to the forum software. The admins are aware of this although they are quite busy with their day jobs. The moderators can modify the offending pages if needed.

First, please don't use all-caps, parang sumisigaw ka :) Second, avoid text spelling.
Regarding the pictures/images, you can upload it sa separate websites/hosts like tinypic.com then you can post/embed sa threads. How to embed pictures on the threads? Mayroong thread nyan dito :) Just look for it.

1. copy the image link of the picture on facebook
(if your using firefox- right click on the image then click "Copy image location")
2. click the "insert image" icon. eto yun -> (http://talk.philmusic.com/board/Themes/default/images/bbc/img.gif)
3. insert/paste the image link between "[.img][/img.]" -> "[.img]insert image link here[/img.]"
4. then your good to go.. :-D

additional if you are using google chrome(might be applicable to other browsers) you may right click and find "OPEN IMAGE IN NEW TAB"

here's how to post pics on a thread:
1.) get the pic's link.
2.) click the tab/button on the upper left part (yung parang mona lisa na logo) to insert image. pwede ding ganito: [ img ] insert image here [ /img ]
3.) enjoy! :-D

i got the same problem here right now. nagchange lang ako ng sig, tapos nawala na avatar ko, tapos inuup ko ulit cya pero walang nangyayari

just found out the issue with mine...
the photobucket album i have has white spaces which are converted into % by URL conventions so naguluhan ata ung BB dun. so i just moved my avatar into my root photobucket album. ngaun ko lang tinutukan din :-P
thing is, i had that avatar before and nawala lang nung nagupdate ako ng sig.

you could use picturetrail instead. that's what I use since yung image code ng photobucket either madalas mag error or hindi ma-recognize ng PM system.

Sa box below ng Specify your own avatar by URL. (e.g.: http://www.mypage.com/mypic.gif), lagay mo yung URL ng photo na gusto mo (copy-paste).
IIRC, same lang yan kung pano magpost ng pics. Tanggalin mo lang yung [IMG] sa simula at dulo after pasting.

My apologies for posting links form other sites instead of actually attaching the pictures. The problem is that an error always occur stating " The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator". I need your help on how i can resolve this problem and be able to comply on the rules.

I'm not a mod but I'll try to help you. Pictures/images have to be uploaded on a 3rd party site like photobocket, tinypic or even (ahem) sulit. If your pic are from a sulit post, here's how you can get the link. When you click on your a pic, you can see this below the pic:
Get Image Embed Code
Click on that, and you will be redirected to a page titled:
Image Code
Scroll down a bit then copy paste what is below:
Forum BBCode:
You can then paste that code into your PhilMusic ad or any other forums. Hope this helps.
*Edit. You can opt for the code below Actual Image. As it is full-sized.

Make sure na ang i-e-embed mo ay yung link mismo ng image/pic. Dapat may .jpg or .gif sa dulo. Personally, I use tinypic. Pagka-upload mo ng image dun, bibigyan ka ng mga option na pwedeng ilagay sa mga forum.

If your photo is too large, resize it. Kahit sa paint lang. Use 100x100 pixels. Then upload it to photobucket. After the upload, click the photo, wait for the window to open, then copy the Direct Link on the right side of the page. Paste it on your profile. There you go. :-)

May photobucket account nako, pero pag copy ko sa kahit ano sa mga links dun then i modify ko na post ko walang lumalabas kahit ano. kahit text. pag sinave ko then modify ko ulet iba na nakasulat na url "gooey brownstuff" something. na ban nako ng 3 days dahil sa hindi pag post ng pics pero ayaw talaga gumana sakin kahit link na lang wala lumalabas. patulong naman kung ano problema.

It's relatively easy. Upload your pic to your favorite host. And paste the BB code to embed the pic in PhilMusic. And if you are selling your items, you need to take time to present your ware.

kung mag lalagay ka ng pics sa avatar eto lang gagawin mo need mo muna ng photo bucket account upload u ung photos mo dun para makuha mu ung photo URL dapat .jgp ang format panu un eto lang pag natapos mo ung pag upload mo ng picture e resize mo sya sa 100x88 pag na save na right click mo ung picture tapos click mu ung view image info tapos click mo ung location at copy mo ung link like this

To embed pics on forums, make sure get the URL of the image. Example is this:

Make sure that it ends in the file extension like jpg, png or gif. Then highlight the link and click on the icon with the Mona Lisa frame (http://talk.philmusic.com/Themes/default/images/bbc/img.gif)
Result would be similar to this:

Hindi. It should be the exact jpg/gif/png link. Tanggalin mo lahat ng characters afer the jpg. And make sure na public ang pictures/images.

Sira po ba ung link na binigay ko or di po talaga pwede yun? Kasi dati ko pa po ginagawa un. Salamat po. :)

Ang nasa rules ay post/embed the pictures. Not post a link to the pictures. May example dyan kung paano. Kapag facebook link ang ilalagay, paano naman yung walang FB accounts? Yung ayaw talagang mag-FB? Maraming examples dito on how to post the pictures. Just follow them.

I noticed that Photobucket hosted pics are not displaying anymore. Then upon checking, it seems they don't allow 3rd party hosting anymore (a.k.a they sold out). Perhaps this should be addressed, as some people still recommend Photobucket on this forum.

2nd: upload the preferred pics.
