Here are a few groovy artists that I highly recommend (and a few side comments in parentheses)...

R&B/Hiphop/Soul:
James Brown (virtually any song by The Godfather of Soul)
Earth Wind & Fire
Tower Of Power
Stevie Wonder
The Roots
Mint Condition
(for me, the baddest r&b band in the planet)
Frank McComb
Musiq Soulchild

Pop/Rock/Contemporary:
Toto (especially their works during the Jeff Porcaro era)
AC/DC (the grooviest rock band of all time, in my humble opinion)
Led Zeppelin (Bonzo had a fat and tasty groove, thanks to his R&B/Motown influences)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (especially the Blood Sugar Sex Magik album)
Stone Temple Pilots (plenty of great groovy STP songs that we can play-along with)
Mike Francis (look for his live stuff)
John Mayer
Steely Dan

Personally, I see Bamboo more as a chops band than a groove band, though they have a number of songs that feature nice steady grooves with less fireworks from sir Vic Mercado.

Right now, in the local scene, I'm digging Kjwan, in terms of groove.  J-Hoon is a great groove drummer.

Chops...  Here, we're talking about drum licks, which for example, can be a cool drum fill or a polyrhythm or a solo part.  Technique is much more in focus.

Groove...  This is all about laying down a steady rhythm, providing a solid structure for the music.  A good groove also provides a great sense of feel for the music.

I have Kjwan's 2StepMarv. and I LOVE IT. Pero Imo, he's starting to sound like Vic Mercado. Fill wise and Chop wise. but Jun is indeed a good drummer.

for me NIACIN's latest album "High bias". dati I always listen and watch dennis chambers. but what the heck wala ako masyadong maintindihan sa mga tinuturo nya tyempo pa na medyo baguito pa ako nun. but now dennis has a big difference in his styles and his techniques. gusto ko yung groove nya sa high bias ngayon...share ko lang po!... :-D

Hehe. Mother Earth and Jamiroquia lang alam kong acid jazz na bands. Thanks for the info.
Yes. Masarap mag-groove sa acid jazz music. Makakakuha ka ng great tips to improve your groove like feel, dynamics, timing even simple but tasty fills.

I also love hearing/watching Dennis Chambers sa Niacin. No too much technical stuff.
Dito ka mapapa-isip na may kaya ka pala na ginagawa ni Chambers. :-)

I just got my copy of Kjwan's new CD, and boy, J-Hoon is burning here!  And the great thing about it... It still grooves!  Sarap pa rin!  Taas kamay para kay J-Hoon.   8-)

if i aint got you - alicia keys
when i see you smile - bad english
dont know why - norah jones

ang dali paluin pero ang sarap na mahirap ulitin yung tamang feel, or maybe i just listened to too much RATM?
