Is Remo Emperor Clear for the toms a good choice? I just ordered kay sir vinci kasi eh... it will arrived next week daw...

Any comments?

I just installed clear emperors around two weeks ago for my toms...nung una nanibago ako sa tunog but after a while parang ok na...i was planning to buy pinstripes pero nagkaubusan na...i think emperors are a good choice too...

Benny Grebb uses coated ambassadors as batter AND resonant head. Mas warm daw. hehehehe
ganda nga ng recordings niya eh. Pero I bet hayop lang talaga ung tenga nung sound guy niya

What's your opinion on this: using remo coated ambassador as batter head for snares is ok, but what do you think is an appropriate resonant head? I used the stock coated batter head of my snare as the resonant head when I replaced it with a coated ambassador. The sound for me became "fatter?". Also, nagkaroon ng ringing, or a sound close to a mic feedback pag malakas ang palo. I'm assuming na I should use a different resonant head - like a clear one? Your thoughts please...thanks!

A good combination for a "towB" sound would be a Coat.Amb. over Coat.Amb
The towb is just a combination of the attack and high resonance i think? not sure.
If the towb I'm thinking of is the same as you. "T" being attack "owb" being resonance
Pinstripes would retard the resonance and result in a punchy sound you described as plasticky.
same with emperors. since there is a second ply the head won't resonate as well.
Emperors are great for rock. Tune your drum to be in tune with itself then go up from there.
Start with you reso side and when you find the sound you like check each tension point make sure there as even as possible then do the same with the batter.
The more even they are the longer the "owb" will be. resonance.
Experiement i guess to find the tone you like.
Tuning is an art. And once you learn you'll enjoy playing that much more.
Also a side note O-ring, moongel and dampening in general is not going to allow your drum to sing.
So I would recommend against those unless you practice a lot. They also make the drum sound lower.
Also don't use heads you used as batters for reso's. thats bad for the tone.
So just play around with it I guess.

Sir Riff,

Unfortunately, it's not readily available at JB music. they would either give you an option to have it special ordered or notify you if any stocks would come by soon (which I doubt as the term "soon" is concerned). If you need it ASAP though, you could take advantage of either wireme's or vincher's special order services. they could expedite item deliveries if needed. good luck! :-)

sir nasa magkano po pinstripe na pang "12'tom "16"floor tom at pang bass drum?

sa classifieds mura lang, mas mura kapag used.. for brand new heads:

12" - 950.00
16" - 1,250.00
22" - 1,900.00 (assuming you have a 22" bass drum)

here's the link if you want to check other sizes and prices as well:
http://www.jbmusic.com.ph/product/details/remo-clear-pinstripe-drumheads

*posted prices are at list price (without discount yet). It would be best to coordinate with JB music for discounted price quotes. thanks!

that depends sa tenga at sa budget mo. If pinalitan mo ang batter at hindi mo makuha ang tunog na hanap mo, then don't withhold sa budget in buying appropriate reso heads. if by changing the batter heads alone satisfied ka na sa tunog, then by all means enjoy!

Remo Clear Ambassador katapat ng Evans G1.. And yes, of course okey lang kahit Evans Batter tapos Remo Reso, basta 1ply reso lang dapat.. :)

best to go with pinstripes or emperors if you have the budget. medyo may issue yung encores AFAIK so it's best to be on the safe side. matagal pagdadaanan ng heads mo, best to invest talaga sa maayos yung quality.

here's an excerpt:
mag pinstripe ka nalang, pasok ang tunog sa maraming genre esp. Pop, Rock and R&B... Personally, I won't buy encore kasi may issues yan regarding durability.

baka pwedeng ibalik mo nalang yan, bro ghoulstats. sayang naman. 2-ply batter heads are supposed to last longer than any other drum head kaya kung kung mapunit or masira agad, sayang naman investment mo.
