Re: Difference of a Brass and Hammered Brass Snare..

hammered brass is tad darker sounding than regular brass assuming both are equally tuned with the same heads (ang sarap maglibot sa mga guitar center, libre testing hehehe)

di mo rin madidistinguish kung alin ang ano kapag may ibang drummer na pumapalo kaya opinion ko, it doesnt matter if its hammered or not

ui, tnx pao!

kasi nakakita ako sa lyric ng pdp hammered brass for 13k.. compared sa black panther na hammered brass na same size na 24k parang, sulit ata siya para sa price niya..
pero im still a big fan of black panthers, wala lang nakita ko lang siya, maganda tunog.. still, its a matter of preference naman dba, do you think ba na magandang alternative ung pdp? kasi panalo talaga ung tunog e, kaso lang dko pa naririnig ung bp kahit ung regular brass/hammered.. im not a big fan of metal snares before e pero the pdp convinced me na maganda pala.. :-D

if it sounds good and the price is right then you cant go wrong  :-D

nababaliw ako dun sa pork pie big black brass. generic shell lang sya pero ang ganda ng tunog, very versatile. sayang lang naubos na sa dslr accessories yung pera ko hehehe

Tonal quality of different wood snare drums
« Reply #54 on: July 26, 2013, 10:07:23 PM »
Ano po ang iba't ibang tonal quality ng mga wood snare drums? Halimbawa po yung sa Maple, Walnut, Birch, etc. At saang genre sila appropriate o magandang gamitin. Salamat po.

it's all in the ears kapatid,
pero in technical terms
maple-warm round sound
birch-natural eq good for studio and focused sound
mahogany-more of lows
bubinga-aggresive maple in steroids
anyway that's for me. it depends also on thickness
the thinner the shell, the sound would be good in near field exprience like studio or a small bar but doesn't project
the thicker the shell it looses sensivity pero it's more of projection na.
hope this helps and i know this is in another thread. imerge na lang ito. hehe :-D
