This is really one of those "Hoong Gondooo" looker guitars..but this will be sold off soon together with other stuff to downsize and to finance a true blue honest to goodness Gibby LP.. (if the universe will help me find one with the right price and the right ton and looks) hahaha....

Tone is in the big trembar.
I have an Epiphone Melody Maker nga pala... the tone is so raunchy, bagay na bagay sa alternative type music lalo na kung isasaksak sa distortion pedal.

hey guys,
i havent had any time yet to try the Epi Dot (GAS changing from Epi LP Custom lol) so checking the reviews and watching demos are my options for now. medyo di lang malinaw sa ngayon is kung medyo maingay ba talaga sya. some reviews says its not some says it is. i understand na these types of guitars makes noise at some point though.
can you help me clarify this guys? maingay ba talaga o hindi? if it is, how would you describe it?
salamat!

Feedbacks have always been the problem for semi-hollow electric guitars.i used to play gritty punk tunes with a semi-hollow es 333 delonge sig equipped with dirty fingers pickups.that being said, distortion pedal's a must.this is one fat sounding guitar and what happens when you try to beef it up with a distortion? you get feedbacks. it's really down to the player to consider his gain setting.

so, as of the moment, you are torn between an lp custom and a dot. personally, i pfrefer the dot. i used to own an epi lp standard but i sold it after a month to buy an epi es335 pro. i prefer the sound and the neck feel of the es335. the lp's neck is a bit thick and the sound is more fatter than the es335 especially on the neck position.
as for the noise on semi hollow bodies, i do not hear any feedbacks at low volume but there is a slight feedback at "gigging volumes especially if you are near the amp and using distortion or high gain pedals. it is the characteristic of semi hollows and if you are putting "hot/high output" aftermarket pups on it, it will produce more feedback which is not advisable. personally, i like the feedbacks that semi hollows produce. it suits the kind of music i create and cover. (the jesus and mary chain [psychocandy era], black rebel motorcycle club, etc.) :)

Hello friends. Mine's a Sheraton II which I have for quite sometime already. Its got everything I wanted visually for a semi-hollow guitar. The classic ES-335 body, gold hardware, Grover tuners, Abalone/MOP inlays, bindings even in the f-holes and Vintage Sunburst finish, all at the price a wannabe can afford. Though coming from a solid-body background, it took me time to get used to the size and range of the semi-hollow sound. (in fact I still do. The guitar is still quite an alien to me.) Everything is still pretty stock. No plans of any mischievous mods etc. so far. haha. Cheers mates.
my beloved Epiphone LPC Ltd. LQ with PRS Dragon IIs. In a class of its own. Totally killed my Gibson GAS (Will never buy a Gibson unless I get it for the price I got this).
not exactly a stellar guitar but an amazingly good MIC production, and rare, if i may add. I wouldnt be selling it if I didnt need some cash. sobrang paluge na in fact. But maybe salvation will come that would allow me to keep this. Really nice tones from the semi-hollow body + mini HBs.

Not all Gibsons sound good. So I think yes.
A really good Epiphone LP can sound better than a mediocre Gibson LP.

It's going to be a quick fix kung loose lang yung knob. If it's a split shaft potentiometer, pwede mo remedyohan on your own. Pero be careful baka mabali kasi.

Hindi daw.
Tanggalin mo llang yung knob sir.
Gets?

You definitely need to open the guitar. Whether it would be easy or not depends.

Look for Jobo_ph, meron siyang 500k Premium Bourns push/pull pot. Pero US spec yung threaded shaft nito, baka kailangan mo i-enlarge konti yung existing hole nung body ng guitar.

There was a batch of Epiphone plustop pro na ganyan. If you buy it sa guitarpusher, we replace the pot for free.
The new plustop PROs mas matibay na.
One thing that you can do, try mo muna i press ng malakas until mag click.
another thing is to replace the pot entirely.

@ pie-key: thanks. yes. it is the es-335 pro. it is a very well done guitar for the price. finish is great (except for some very tiny excess of adhesives on the fret board probably from the ones used in sticking the block inlays). can be cleaned though but haven't got the time yet. the stock pick-ups sounds good but had small dents when i got it. now i changed the pick-ups with seymour duncan aph-1n and aph-1b and the sound greatly improves. planning in changing the pots in the near future. very versatile guitar 'coz of the coil splitting feature.
@ iceblink-luck: thanks. scored this baby late last year.

ei thanks for the response! I really like the PRO version of this one. I'm really planning to get onr mine soon, just don't know yet what finish, Ebony, Red, or limited Ed. Pelham Blue. But it whatever color it is I think OK naman talaga! It will be my go to HB set guitar.... about the set-up I think its a wise decision to upgrade this beauty. I'm looking to upgrade the hardwares and PUs. I think it deserves it.
oohhhhh I want one so bad now!!! nga pala it's MIC right? you got it locally? thanks again

yes normal. scarf joint tawag jan. mas matibay yan.

Meron din akong MIK LP, one thing i noticed though is that yung output ng bridge pup ko is masmahina than that of the neck pup. I haven't really played a lot of LPs pero so far lahat ng natry ko may ganung flaw (for the lack of a better term). Ok naman ang pup heights. Is this a common thing among LPs talaga or coincedentally lahat lang talaga ng nahahawakan kong LPs palyado ang bridge pup??

Sir ganda ng gitara mo. Kamusta naman yung improvement after installing Gibby Burstbuckers Sir? Malaki ba difference? Thinking of installing Gibby BB2 sa Epi LP Custom ko, kaso may narinig ako na malakas daw ang harmonic squeal or something kapag loud volume levels. Totoo ba yun? Thoughts anyone?

Thanks man! Well nung una kasi the guitar sounded thin and flabby with the stocks and hindi na siya problema ngayon! :D
Well, yes talagang may tendency *siguro* na mag squeal since hindi siya wax-potted.. kung issue man yon sayo, get the BB Pros then or yung hindi aftermarket (yung galing sa mga reissues). Used the guitar sa Battle of the bands and parang wala naman squeal, I don't play metal though. Hope this helps!

yes sir. epi + gibson es-335 sizes are more or less the same. same goes with the casino and sheraton. but i would suggest you add a little money and purchase the hard case. more protection for semi-hollows.

Any reviews about Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 royale red wine?
Based on my experience between these 2 riviera's. The p90s is a little dark sounding on this specific model that i had, but has good balance between the 3pups. And solid ung bottom end nya, really tight at lutang sa band.
The HH config on the other hand has really good sustain and clarity but lacks on the bottom end. Hope this helps😀
