Iba kasi pag tao talaga kalaban mo. Huling laro ko nung college pa. Naalala ko parin yung game ng finals hehe 2nd lang ako matanda na kalaban ko Petrosian ang style sobrang kunat. Naubos pasensya ko nag sacrifice ng major piece para lumuwag kaso sa end game natalo ako, pawn saka position advantage sya. Naalala ko tuloy sabi ng isang GM, can't remember kung sino; A pawn is enough to win a game.

My First Epic win in playing CHESS is nung high school pa ako 2nd year
natalo ko 4th year arrogant at malaki kumpyansa sa sarili, ako lang nakatalo sa kanya
pero sya parin pinili ng school namin para sa international competition.

pangalawa is when i am in a certain company with chess competition
dahil nabubugnot ako sa nakalaban ko, mas matanda sya when i am 27 sya mga nasa 40+
sobra bagal tumira, at grabe mag isip then, i sacrifice a horse in exchange to have a good position sa gitna
then after a few moves nag offer sya ng DRAW! pero nasa isip ko ay talunin sya dahil kailang ko makapasok sa top
10 para sa second round. Then i decide na accept ko draw kc may tatlo pa ako na makakalaban para pumasok ako
sa second round. Then di ko akalain tumaas rating ko dahil sobrang taas pala rating ng nakalaban ko 
pero mautak yun mga team mate nya dahil dun sa need ko next na maipanalo dahil may tatlo pa akong laban
yun isa tinalo ko at yun dalawa pang games hindi sumipot, kaya muntik na akong makapasok sa second round tsk tsk..
any way, thats great challenge, at totoo napakarami pang magagaling sa chess..

Kulang kasi sa support sa chess dito sa pinas eh., di kagaya sa ibang bansa na talagang supported nila mga chess players. Pag walang market kasi di nila ganu pinapansin. Sila Eugene Torre dati sila pa gumagastos ng pang fare nila para lumaban sa labas. Sariling sikap nalang talaga ahehehe.

Naalala ko nung HS pa ako, lumaban kami division level ata yun. Nagulat kami bigla nalang may namalo ng chess clock sa kalaban nya kasi natalo sya  Ayun disqualified si mokong ahehehe.

I remember the rules in chess tournament
Dont ignore yun illegal moves ng kalaban
if ginawa nya yun tapos nag punch ka ng clock
disqualified ka. You have to raise your hand
para pupunta nga game masters na nag momonitor ng tournament

So yun kalaban ko kala nya di ko binasa rules
in desperation na matalo ako dahil losing na sya eh
kaya nya ginawa yun, eh di tinaas ko kamay ko
pahiya sya sa intension nya

Nyahaha uu tama may ganun ngang rule. Nakaka miss na mag tournament! Walang time saka allowance eh hehe., wala narin ako chess board nawala na. Pag may time minsan sa yahoo nalang ako naglalaro

Chess.com site offers forum(parang philmusic.com, you can post topics), online chess playing and articles. What do you mean shortcut technics? There is no short cut po in improving at chess. To improve at chess we need to study endgames, tactics and positional play.

as far as i know, hindi.  pero may chicks siya dati na taga-baguio.  ah, that twisted genius named bobby fischer...kung wala lang sanang sayad he could've been the perfect ambassador for chess.  still, you have to respect his unbelievable skills.   

haven't been playing regularly since grade school (and briefly again 2-3 years ago nung kasali ako dapat sa chess team ng account namin sa sportsfest) but i say we keep this thread alive!

yup.  and we can use both pronunciations...     just finished reading a fischer biography ("endgame" - by frank brady) and as it turns out, bobby fischer did live in baguio for some time, did have a filipina girlfriend who had a daughter in 2000-01, but eventual DNA testing had proven that he's not the father...

and it was during fischer's stay in the philippines that he made that infamous call to bombo radyo following 9/11.  anti-american and anti-jew sentiments at their worst...

more of a frustrated player these days.     di na ako familiar sa ibang mga types of offense/defense...after all, i last played seriously in grade school!

Even if you have forgotten some opening variation as long as you study chess endgame, tactics and middle game plans before, you will beat many players.

There are many developing players na memorize ang opening without understanding the idea behind it. A developing player should focus more on studying endgames, tactics and middle game themes..

bihira nalang din ako makapaglaro ng over the board, lagi nalang online. kapag wala sa mood maglaro e nanonood nalang ako ng mga bullet (1 - 2 min.) games. magandang panoorin ang mga laro ni GM Rogelio Antonio Jr. (GMJoey), checkmate ang habol nya at hindi ubusan ng oras.

Do you know Hikaru Nakamura? In online, he is the king of bullet and blitz. I believe he holds the the highest blitz and bullet rating at icc (may isa pang site nakalimutan ko na)

In his younger years Kasparov gives 1 minute to five(or 3) odds( I minute lang time niya)
