When i was reading this thread.. and eventually on sir bamf's post about his sony monitor headphones, naisip ko yung headphones ng friend ko na gamit nya dati sa mp3 player at putol yung dulo ng cable.. "Parang Sony yun ah?!" then hours passed, "tol, pwede ko ba mahiram yung 'di mo na ginagamit na headphones, yung putol? and luckily he replied "sayo na lang, paayos mo":-D...........................
..........and what a surprise! it was a Sony V150 :-o medyo mababaw ang kaligayahan pero atleast hindi na cdr-king gamit ko :-D

eto na siya ngayon(got fixed)

just tried a pair of Grado SR series and it was really silky smooooth.. tamang tama sa classical and intrumentals.. my AKG 240's sounded close to it but the Grados are more comfortable and open back design is really good for extended listening. the Sennheiser's is also good, the bass is a little bit more than the Grado.. For close back design, the Beyerdynamic DT770 is more all around for me since it really lets you hear that "low frequency bass"  which is usually not heard on headphones ... just my own opinion though 8-)...

We A/B'ed Peeves M40 with the V150.

They were almost almost the same in the mid to high frequency even in the details. It was in the bass where the M40 had the edge. It had a bigger bass sound.

Pero for all practical purposes, specially for preliminary mixes, tumbok na 'to if it fares very well in contrast to an M40 !

I use AKG K66 Natural Sound Stereo Headphones.

It's cheap but gives me a natural, uncolored sound.  :-D

AKGs... sa Audiophile and yung isang Audio store (Audioden ba? Yung may Soundcraft Spirit mixers) sa Park Square.

Pero I THINK phased out na yung K66. In that case, may 1 or 2 stocks pa sa 5th Avenue store sa Robinson's Ermita.

A pair of AKG77's just arrived. Looks like the K66's are no longer available.

Sounds great although I can hear certain things that I don't like. I'm not sure if it's the headphones (or its accuracy) or that I'm trying them right now on my Ipod with the of-course-crummy .mp3 encoding.

I think it needs some period of break-in time.

Cool! Was always interested in the K66's. Haven't heard of the successor until now.

Also, I've heard uhm.. issues.. about the utter inefficiency of the iPod's internal amp, so maybe that's the problem? Besides, I think cans sound their best when sampled through a dedicated headphone amp. Anyway, maybe a 48-hour burn-in isn't a bad idea?

IMHO the sony MDR V-150's still give it a run for its money. Dunno if its a fair comparison, but these sony's are more "in your face".

Its amazing how the price of these K77's fluctuate. Last time I looked it up it was $70. Now it's only $39.99. What gives ??

That means these are going to be discontinued soon and they're trying to get rid of stocks. I used to have the K220M which was similar to the K44 but going from those the the K240M was like night and day.

There's an MDR-V300 in the classifieds. Used to own the V600 which was very detailed - loved the fact that the V600 had only a single cord on the left side and that it folded into a very compact format. I miss those cans. (and my Senns)

I'm re-reading reviews for the MDR150 on epinions.com . Man what a range of responses.

At the same time, I'm moving from can-to-can between these K77's a pair of Akai ASE-22's (customers) and this MDR-150. The guys who gave these pair of cans a bad rap must be deaf. They're the most open-sounding, most 3D of the three (I [gooey brown stuff] thee knot !)! What a lucky accident that my sister looked for the cheapest studio headphones she could find and sent me these. I was grateful then, now I'm truly grateful.

But then again, maybe my AKG K77's aren't fully broken in yet...

gamit ko akg270p (playback) 2 speakers in each earcup.. parang nagsasabi ata nang totoo ito kasi walang boom or bass halos.. medyo antique narin sakin ito..pang mix ko sa isang monitor din..as much as possible lahat ng monitor na pwede sana ay subukan mo kunan ng opinyon..Isa itong k270 na pinag kukunan ko opinion hindi lang sa tunog kundi pati sa spatial positioning ng instruments..or mas simple pag nag panning na nang instrumento.   di ko alam kung extra ordinary ito pero  nakarinig nako ng pan dito na lumabas sa batok ko yung position.. hehehe.
