Title: Sax noob.

magandang araw ko po, nagreresearch po ako pra sa alto na sax ng nabasa ko po itong forums nio.gusto ko po sana malaman kung anong magandang sax na nasa 15k-20k at ano pa pong kelangan na mga gamit aside sa sax?

I am also a newbie and got my saxophone (worth 20K) from Mang Pany last September.  There are threads here that mentions his name.

Just to give a background, I started practicing last October and can now play around three music sheets and below are some of my recommendations based on initial experiences:

- Consider getting a beginner mouthpiece.  I had a hard time blowing the mouthpiece that came with the sax I got.  There is a need for me to get the right embochure and breathing technique with a student or beginner mouthpiece.  Otherwise, you might be disappointed using other (or for more experience players) mouthpieces for now.
- Get new reeds and experiment if needed.  I started with Vandoren #2.5 but settled with Rico #2. 
- Neck Strap if sax does not have one yet
- Cork grease
- Home made sax cleaning kit

Sir san kayo nakabili ng mouthpiece? Yung sa akin kasi plastic, gusto ko magpalit sana para makapagexperiment kung ano maganda para sa akin

Ginagamit ko ito (Yamaha AS-3c):

It is also made of plastic, not as sturdy as the hard-rubber or ebonite, may scratches na pero mas mura ito, a good beginner mouthpiece at natuto ako.  I am now moving out of AS-3c and just started using a different mouthpiece with slightly bigger tip opening.  

2 nabili ko nuon na AS-3C at meron pa akong isang 'unused'.  I am planning of selling the 'unused' alto sax mouthpiece since I am now experimenting another mouthpiece.

Around P1.9K to P2K each (can't remember exact price).  I prepared 4K nuon.  I got one mouthpiece initially, tapos after two weeks, kumuha pa ako ng isa pa. 

Yung una kong mouthpiece (buescher) medyo malaki tip openning at napansin ng nagtuturo sa akin na nahihirapan ako sa breathing.  Kaya nung napatugtog ako sa beginner mouthpiece, natuwa ako at napabili pa ako ng isa.
