Hi first time buyer here.
Worth it na ba to (http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=316816.0) or magfefernando nalang ako?

Also, complete na ba tong kit na to, I mean cymbals nalang bibilhin.

Please help mga kapatid, maraming salamat.   :)

Looks good. i'd get this. naka evans na, may A ROCK HATS na, i think kasama na rin hardware kasi KIT ang sabi niya hindi shellpack. best to ask the seller. sobrang steal nito pag may hardware na rin. better buy it at 18k.

Looks good to me. If the bearing edges (the part of the wood that touches the heads) arent damaged, and the hardware isn't loose or has hidden rust spots, or missing anything, then it's good. You'd have to pay the kit a visit though. It's a Sonor, so brand isn't an issue. I'd take it now if it's true he'll throw in the A rock hats (if it's in good condition too). It's the exact same config as the stock Yamaha Gigmaker I have, so complete na yan by your definition, isang boom stand na lang at ride and crash cymbals ang bibilhin mo.

May nagbebenta dyan ng Medeli DD505 pero bibili ka pa ng amp powerful enough to play with your guitar and bass amps.

I'd still go for the sonor. Yung heads nung Tama kit looks beat up na. yung sa sonor kit, you're getting evans g2's na. plus yung avedis rockhat talaga. the cymbals with the tama are those generic brass cymbals na you wouldn't like using bro.

Sa Tama, replace and add pa!

Speaking of first time gear buyers, first pair of hats ko yung A Rock. Panaloswabe sya pero grabeng bumulyaw! Better warn the neighborhood.

For the good ones, syempre there's Meinl and LP. if you can get secondhand LP's go for it! kung sa budget naman, STAGG has great Chimes and Cajons for the budget musician. don't buy those cheapo RJ stuff.

AFAIK, meron ding mga nagcucustom ng Cajon. you might wanna check their stuff out.

MEINL - Lyric
LP - JB Music
Stagg - The Music Source

Bnew, mejo mahal si meinl and LP. Second hand lang alam ko. around 5kish for a cajon and 2k for chimes.

Wala pa akong nakikitang nagbebenta ng stagg. either maganda talaga siya for them, or they don't bother to sell kasi dirt cheap naman chaka mahirap ibenta kasi nga its an entry level brand. unless palugi. hahaha

Hi guys!

My family (brother and father) will be buying our first drum set, complete with cymbals. BTW, sa akin naka toka ang cymbals so I would like to ask your opinions (ayoko kasi mapahiya haha!).

1. Budget will be 15k to 20k.
2. Brand and category (low end to high end).
3. Generality/ease of use (could be used on different genres)
4. Location (whether in Raon or malls).

Of course, I would like to maximize the budget. Kung meron ako makuha na high end or mid end na magandang set would be best. Plus, may nakikita ako na mga set na may +1 or free na cymbal kasama in box, I would just like to clarify din if ok ung quality ng mga ganung set.

Thanks in advance! :)

Istanbul Mehmet @ Lazer, IMHO I recommend prioritizing getting a good cymbal set over looking for one with a free cymbal ; )

Kung kaya ng budget ang Istanbuls, go for those, pag medyo di kasya, Stagg DH or SH in that order  :) These are very good cast cymbals for the price, the ones from the big brands easily cost more than twice the price. Because these are handmade (also not a bad thing), give them a test run just to weed out the bad ones. Try to stay away from Zildjian ZBTs or Sabian B8s; they will definitely fit into the budget as they are "student models", but don't sound really good, and are quite shrill. Zildjian ZHT is priced too high for the sound.

Those ones with free cymbals aren't really much of a deal if they're ZBTs and B8s (pag mga Zildjian A/K or Sabian AA/HH ok yan). A basic trio set (hi hat pair, ride, crash) of high quality is a much better choice.

As for the "ease of use," Istanbuls sound pretty great on anything actually, so does the Stagg DH line. Stagg SH is great for pop, rock, metal, punk, electronic, acid jazz, funk, the kind that doesn't demand too much complexity.

Istanbuls are available in Lyric, Staggs are available in The Music Source (sa cubao andun lahat ng major music shops)  :)

Thanks for these infos guys!

I thought I was going for the ZHT (JB) and the B8 Pro (Yupangco) kasi sila ung main players sa lowend/midend cymbals market. I never thought may mga ganitong cymbals on the tier na palaban na.

I will visit today ung stores to check out the deals and will post again kung alin ung kinuha ko :D

Anyway, hirap pa din father and brother ko sa good set na bibilihin nila (haha!). They are eyeing for a Gretsch Catalina Maple/Ash na 6pc sana, mga nasa ganung level pero I think meron pang mas better. Any suggestions?

Maraming salamat ulit! :)

ingat sa gretsch kits brother ha. merong batch ng gretsch kits na may bad lugs. pumuputok yung lugs kahit di pa naccrank.

try looking at TAMA and Pearl.
