Ian Umali is one of the greatest player I admire. My band do covers of P.O.T. and All I can say is sobrang sarap at hirap nya gumawa ng mga riffs.  :-)

right!

bata pako nun sa school namin sa pampanga and they had a concert sa campus...

POT with Sugar Hiccup...

gear fanatic na din ako nun so patingin-tingin sa setups...(we fronted for them)

Ian Umali used a Gibson Hollowbody (probably a 335) a burst and really nice tone!

his pedals (walang pedalboard, as far as i can tell) was just a Boss Yellow Pedal

(malamang a SD-1) and a Dunlop Crybaby Wah Pedal and that's it!

grabe they were at the peak at that time..insane musicianship...

may cover pa nga sila nung set nila..one was parang joke jam ng

"pasko na sinta" ko really melancholic jazzy version and ung hindi ko

makakalimutan na cover nila which was "Just The 2 of Us" funky jazz version

whoa and his lick were pro-superb!

rock on!!!

yup some songs rhcp nga...

known kasi sila for being a Funk-Rock Band (yugyugan na)...

pero listening to "Panaginip" or "Pieces of This" (may faves)

will give you some of their jazz sensibilities...

"Monkey on my Back" - jazzrockfunk style licks here and there too...

cool!!!

Before POT,Ian came from a Metallica tribute band called "Leper Messiah" back in the early 90's,nung na disband yung leper,di ko na alam kung saan napad-pad si Ian pero yung drummer nila napunta sa pinoy rap metal band na "Erectus". For guitars naman,he used a 335 copy(Yamaha Super Axe,i think)
throughout the album, and for the od,an SD1. He is now currently running his own studio. :-D

Nag usap kami ni Mally last week, naglaho lang yung banda as they went on seperate "rackets". Mally is now a producer at viva records and does sessionwork.

They will release a guitar oriented album, ala "rule of the guitar" this coming April 3 yata.It will feature some of the most prominent guitarists in the industry.

Haven't heard Ian's solos that much, but what amazes me about the guy is his killer rhythm chops.

When he does his funky strumming (a.k.a. 'kaskas  :-D), it all locks in SOOOO tightly with Mally's solid bass lines and Harley's lovely drumming (and there's another amazing drummer as well)
