Just like water seeking it's own level, parang inland at urban bodies of water na naghahanapan hangang mgkita-kita at magkatugtugan.. I hope the mods would understand this growing up (not growing old hehehe) instinctive feeling ng Golden Boys musikerong pinoy..
I am happy to have found friendship to former respondents to this GBM-Golden Boys Musicians thread.. they know who they are kasi nagkatugtugan na kami and as Golden Boys we are all very thankful to Philmusic for that matter.

Share ko lang buhay buhay for the the past 14 days na naging turning point para sa akin hehehe naka-angio-plasty nako, 1 stent set sa main artery last October 26 Saturday..
October 24 driving home along edsa between 5:30 ~ 6pm from gym, I experienced numbness sa left arm with accompnying ngalay sa likod.. analyzing and slow cruising sa traffic, I took several deep breath and guminhawa kaunti.. pero bandang Guadalupe to JPRizal parang bumalik uli so I planned to go to Makati Medical Center.. kept my composure, I tried coughing kasi baka heart attack.. pero walang chest pain (I've seen late Dad ung 1st attack nya about my age din 56 talagang chest pain na parang may naka dagan) in my case hindi nmana ganun.. so in-denial pa rin ako, prayed to God to spare me kung ano man.. I dont know how but I made it to Makati Med, naghanap pako ng parking and texted my wife nasa elevator nako "dumerecho ko EQ not feeling well kasi" (grabe later ko nalaman wrong spelling pa dapat ER hehehe).. dumaan pako CR para wiwi kasi makulit mga tao pag nasa ER nko..
so yon I was attended to nman agad, I recalled previous night I had a bad tummy 5x ako na cr after having zagu.. and then that morning puro meeting so I was not able to rehydrate.. tas nag-gym pko.. so initial suspect nila was electrolyte imbalance, I how I wish yon na nga.. kaso symptoms of numbness meron na sa right hand ko.. Then dumating na sina mrs ko and so they ran an ECG ayun.. mukhang heart irregularities na, so blood test nkita may cardiac enzyme.. I had to be admitted sa ICU and worked up and walang vacancy sa Makati Med I had to decide fast pa ambulance sa Cardinal Santos Med Ctr dun kasi ung dating cardio ng father ko..
Sa CSMC ICU nawork out nman and doctor decided my case Friday as a non classic heart attack.. instead major arteries blockade ang problem and suggested nga angiogram tuloy angioplasty kung 1 or 2 stents lang, if more open heart by pass na, wowww.. pinagpa-sa-Dios ko na lang.. fortunately nakahabol pa ng schedule Friday (long weekend nun bec of the barangay elections hehe) and I was just lucky and God has always been good.. 6 mos old pa lang ung bagong machine sa CATLAB ng CSMC,Saturdy 11am to 1pm tapos nako.. Thank God had two blockades, 1 required stent and the other mkukuha pa sa meds.. napaka modern pa ng approach sa right wrist ko idinaan lahat ng wires, stent and probes.. (in most cases I heard sa groin area where matagal ang healing)..
I was discharged Tue Oct 29.. bill totalled P497K grabe pa mahal ng meds (hindi pa nga ako tapos sa maga loans ko from my wife's case of Guillain Barre Syndrom (eto recent sakit ni Kim Atienza, where ung abnormality sa immune system pinapatay ung peripheral nerves sa spine which could lead to total paralysis and death) last year na inabot almost 1M, ewan nga kung pano nkakaraos sa mga loan hehehe.. complete rest until Nov 5 doctor's appointment.. bago pa lang ako nakaka-adjust sa meds and am sure am having a new set of meds to deal with..
So yon nung matapos lahat in-denial pa rin yata ako ng mga pangyayari, told my doc ingat nga ako sa pgkain and medyo regular ako nasa treadmill sa gym.. kaya lang he insisted nasa genes ko raw, as in ung anatomy ng arteries un bang darating ang time at magbabara din gaya ng father ko (ung case ng father ko open heart sya nung 1997 with sextuple by-pass, as in 6 arteries barado)..
So ingat lang talaga tayo Golden Boys brothers, esp kung nasa lahi ang heart ailment.. be wary of your diet and iba pa rin ang nag-iingat. Salamuch sa pag-basa, God bless..

Salamuch bro "red lights", yes sobrang gabay despite my kasalanan ako sa pagkain ng Elar's lechon sa 50th bday party ni Bodhisatva na tinugtugan namin Oct20 Sunday.. nagkita nga kami 3650guy dun.. nagandahan yata sa 2g2g kaya me take out pa kaming lechon, which we had as dinner sa bahay Oct 21 Monday.. tas ayun Oct 24 sumipa na.. kaya ngayon doble ingat.
ika nga God help those who help themselves, iniingatan nya ung talagang nag-iingat sa sarili.. recall ko pa sabi ni doc that I had a good heart as I see to it na maka-work-out sa gym kahit treadmill.. it's good that during that fateful Oct24 nag-hybernate ung impaired portion ng heart that starved from oxygen.. instead of pumping heard to compensate (which could be fatal kung nagrapture ung artery) nagphanga lang sya pumping kung ano lang kaya.. logically baka nag-free-up ng konti ung bara or nag-dilate ung blood vessel enough just to let blood flow.. hehehe hindi ko rin exacto gets, pero in short kung mahina ang puso baka may mga dead muscles na sya at dun bumigay.. lumalabas ang pangyayari is oxygen starvation talaga at hindi heart attack per se..
anyways, bali-baligtarin mo man.. bottomline God is good, wag tayo lalayo sa kanya.. God bless ! ! !

Salamuch bro Wisdom.. am ready nman anytime.. pag-uwi ko haus last week one of things I did first was hit the keys and played some bass lines over a drum track hehehe altho lamog pa righ wrist ko that time kasi doon idinaan lahat probe wires and stent.. problema ko lang then was mobility mabagal nung una but am able to move about after a week's time.. mya na appointment ke doc.. and am sure another set of adjustments na nman sa meds and activities.. nwy looking fwd to a therapeutic jam hahaha salamuch and best regards..
btw naisip ko lang my late Dad used to have Isordil (tama b?) on hand in case of emergency.. baka dapat age natin meron din tayo baon or baka exag nman hehehe

btw am also taking maintenance medications...metoprolol or calcibloc for hbp...self-medication most of the time..w/c i don't recommend to anyone except myself...

Im starting to build my base again from where i left off, and added a few not so current radio blues standards. I need WD40 for my fingers para di kalawing masyado :)

If you're talking about Father Eugene Santana, he's my cousin. He used to host the mass during our family reunions. Sarap sana sumama sir, pero i'm leaving on December 5 mismo, im going to the Cordilleras. Yung kilala kong keys, my brother's band member is in Ligaya area lang, let me see kung maka-log sya dito. He's back in Manila at hindi na rin sumama sa byahe ng utol ko. My brother is the longtime bassist for N-Control, theyre now based in KL and will transfer to Korea next month.

Be well Boyet! I rarely log nowadays here at Philmusic but I'm glad I found your thread alive and kicking!I too had a minor surgery for carpal tunnel on my left hand. I'm still getting therapy for my right hand but I might have this operated on by next year.

Hi DareXP, am sure welcome ka as Golden Boys Musicians na-earn natin ito as we've become of age na very matured not only in music but in every aspect of life.. am sure gaya ko, the rest of our readers are happy everytime a golden boy surfaces up, mukhang nasa mainstream ka sa Malate huh.. there was a time me mga nakapagbuo din ng mga jam meets sa South and sa North, pero sa Central wala pa.. we might just come up with something sometime next year.. in my case medyo ngpapalakas at may kabagalan pa kumilos pero kapag naupo eh kayang-kaya jumam hehehe keep in touch brother and God bless.. I'm Jaime Gonzalez, 57... not a musician, but more of a guitar hobbyist. I listen to different genres, but my simple playing is stuck in the late '60's to '70'sclassic rock and blues... not much talent or chops, but enjoy playing along to cd's. I also join my classmates when they decide to play at our annual high school reunions.
Looking forward to having more time to practise and play in 3 years when I retire from work.
I hope I can watch you guys jam sometime.

pero ok yan bro, correct ka dyan unti-unti yan you'll have time mag-tipa-tipa, dapat muna me gear ka syempre to practice with.. it has to start somewhere, in my case na-resurrect ung high school band namin and participate sa mga alumni home coming sa PCC sa Pasig.. tas thru this thread I got to meat real nice guys, mixed full time and hobbyists.. sarap parang mga long lost brothers.. walang yabangan, walang competition, plain having fun sa music..

Hi! Good morning. Actually I'm not sure if I can catch up with you guys. Kasi for the last 3 yrs. na tumugtog ako, sequencer ang back-up ko. Sabi nga ng iba nakakabobo daw ang sequencer. Bukod pa dun hindi ako tumugtog since yr. 2000. Tipa-tipa lang sa piano paminsan-minsan kaya malamang manibago ako pag-react sa live.
But still I want to meet you guys. Baka may kilala kayo sa mga nakasama ko noon (late 60s & early seventies).
So, nagkaroon ka pala ng health problem. Thanks God naman nalampasan mo yan. Mahalagang puhunan natin ang ating will to live. Enjoy lang tayo and have a healthy lifestyle.
Inform kita pag jan ako sa Makati. Dun lang ako sa Cityland sa may Calle Estacion.

Hindi nman sa pgbubuhat ng banko hehehe I've been thru sequencing myself from 1997~2004 and from time to time kpag nag self jam.. Iba lang talaga hagod ng live bass guitar and guitar playing.. Npaka safe lang talaga kasi pwede mag quantize at mag edit ng notes thru microscope hehehe

gud am. wala naman ako alam i-jam kundi yung mga common pieces din tulad ng satin doll, c jam blues yung mga under my skin. I'm experimenting with Never Can Say Goodbye. Parang maganda kasi pang jam ung version ni Dave Grusin at Lee Ritenour. Hindi ako sanay sa jamming kasi galing ako sa Pop/Dance group and last nga ung sequencer with a lady singer.
Anyway, baka pwede mo bigay sa akin ung mga piesa nyo para magkaroon ako ng idea. Marami smooth jazz pieces na maganda i-jam kaya lang dapat familiar lahat dun sa piyesa.
Dun nga pala ako sa Cityland sa tapat ng train station sa may AMA.

I am a 58 year old American drummer, living in Pampanga for 12 years. I've played on various recordings, been on MTV, was in a band that charted on Billboard, toured in 27 countries, held endorsements, and later worked as a tour manager/sound engineer. So how come I only know 6 songs on your set list? LOL

Don't worry about all that stuff. Almost anyone born in the USA, with just a little bit of talent can do what I have done. Trust me, I am a very mediocre drummer, and a self taught sound engineer/tour manager. I barely got by, in my so called career, and had many years of zero income from the music business. My point was, how is it that I missed listening to all those bands? I need to expand my listening...
I am familiar with Seawind, Player, Bill Withers, Toto, Swing Out Sister, Chuck Mangione, and Chaka Khan, and some of the other artists, but not so much, their music

Who among the lead guitarists here has played the solos to The Eagles' "Hotel California" live in a band performance and without a second lead?

For many, many sleepless nights, I dreamt of having another lead guitarist playing 2nd lead, very much like what(remember?..and I think many of us here do)
Yjos and AMO, etc. bands in the early '80's(was not in a band at the time...working my ass off for JVC, employed as Video Technician) did...NEVER HAD even once
up to my last gig playing that tune live...
Felt so uncomfortable doing it, sometimes almost every night that I got so sick and tired of the song...lagi kasing most requested...
Most band rhythm section setup is minimal---1 drummer, 1 bass guitarist, 1 keyboardist and 1 lead guitarist---for the simple reason of economy...less personnel to move around and
pay...for most venues and lineups, it's considered enough...but, regardless of my frustrations, the musical beauty, as far as my preferences are concerned, suffers...

got to exchange stories with the guy sometime in '79...alternated with his Band-era at the International Pub along
Timog Ave. that time and the casual chat happened during our break...now the guy says he's homeless today but blabbering something about delinquent apartment rentals and royalties of his songs that were claimed by somebody else...turns out it was Sampaguita...and Gary, looking haggard and much older, is gearing to file a lawsuit...
oh well...difficult as it seems...playing music has its dark sides too...heck!

Hello guys. I'm a GB too (turning 52 this coming Dec). I've started (stealthily he he) visiting this forum just recently and it feels great to find out that PM has a group of extremely talented and generous people whom we can express and share with, everything about our musicality. I'm from Calamba Laguna, can do a little guitar and vocals. I'm quite familiar with some of the oldies, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and even a bit of 2k and up. I may not be able to be here as frequent as most of you guys here do but I'll try to drop by as often as I can for updates. Any jam sched here in the south? Regards to all.

Coping hard after that fateful and painful surgery last Feb 20, actually it was acromioplasty, shaving and smoothening of the acromion bone that caused the impingement of muscle-tendon on my left shoulder, medyo npabayaan sa dami ng gig.. rotator cuff tear or tendon tear needed to be sutured which will require more rest for proper healing.. my ortho says 3~6 weeks, tawad ko 3 weeks hehehe we'll see kaya follow-up checkup next week..so yon poh ang pangyayari as a result of an abnormal development of acromion (upper portion ng shoulder blade)..

#red lights - salamuch.. actually 3rd time ko na sa OR hehehe thyroidectomy, angioplasty after my 1st heart attack and acromioplasty sa left shoulder..
#ralph petrucci - kaya pala familiar hehehe ikaw ung me shaperon na magandang gf huh..
just wanted to share experiences with fellow musicians.. just have faith ke Bro and He'll always be there for you.. kaya you should also find time to give him praise thru music..

Salamuch bro teob, am doing betterer now after almost a month, am almost doing well without my body-bag that used to keep my left arm at an angle from my torso (it's supposed to relax the sutured tendon)..
and yeheey per doctor's order pwede na ko mag drive next week hehehe actually nag druve nko since last weekend hahaha
ok na nkakatipa na sa piano and sa bass reach ko na 1st fret nung 35" na btb haay.. thank God sa matitiyaga PT sa rehab ko..
now i can wash my face and shampoo my hair with both hands.. nung weeks 1 and 2 puro right hand.. made me realize kelangan ko rin alagaan right arm ko..
ayan napakwemto na nman.. sharing lang poh.. doble ingat mga brothers, health is wealth..
esp to former GBM's na tumawid na sa pagiging senior.. dont wori guys senior na rin ako sa Nov next year.. God bless!

Hi everyone kumusta na?! I'm surprised to learn that nobody has been here since January. Where have all the Golden Boys gone?

I'm still checking in to see who's on once in a while, but things happen....my hard disk could have been infected and files corrupted, tapos defective na...then, the whole system went fully down....whenever I can, I try to borrow my children's phones just to use the internet and logon, but it's not the same as a pc or laptop...so I am presently using my son's laptop, which I have to fight for with the younger children, hehehe, and I always win....going to 62 in the next few months, and glad to be alive, my elder sister died a couple of years ago after just turning 60, I consider myself more fortunate....but, the last few months also came some new developments...had a prostate checkup several months ago and nothing was wrong, but blood tests revealed my very high blood-sugar levels, which, incidentally was my sister's problem when she was still around...and several of my blood-relatives are diabetic....I really don't make such a big fuss about it,so I have not mentioned anything here until now, but things really get complicated in situations like these and we all have to find solutions to maintain our health for the better, at least what we can control, checking for more information in the internet, reason why I almost never even peep in here, too busy with my case...well, am still raring to go on a jam, if time and schedules permit...sana nga gaya nung una ko pang sinasabi,at para ma-retain ang thread, kwento muna sana kayo...maybe tungkol sa mga experiences sa pagiging musikero o myembro ng banda...

Salamat redlight, 63 na 'ko ngayon(please note date) at "Still Alive And Well"(Johnny Winter song, who passed way years ago at 70-plus and was still rocking the blues.
). Kababalita ko lang, ang crush ko nu'n na si Isabel Granada died in comatose state. I mentioned because people like her at 41....so young to die. Am I "blessed" to live this long?
Went for medical checkup(courtesy of my eldest son's company health cards; can't afford to pay cash...no income po at unemployed kasi) last year in March and this year recently.
Diabetic and hypertensive. 'buti na lang not worsening, pero numbness na sa mga fingers and toes, no problems with prostate and other organs. Jamming? Anytime! Lagi lang kasi
prublema distansya from all of us brothers. Although nanigas na ng kaunti yung mga middle fingers ko, medyo masabit lang, pero when I picked up my guitar , nakakatunog pa naman
ng maganda, thank God.
