tagalog lang yan for "rocker" eh.

Emphasis on the underlined sentence. It's a matter of being typecasted as a "rocker" or rakista. Hindi ko alam sayo pero I think for everyone else it's really offending to be stereotyped. Can you give us a more in depth definition of a poser please?

every person has his/her own meaning of poser.
you could be a musician or a poser to some people.
depende sa paningin ng tao sayo.
youd be lucky enough if no one called you a poser.
but yes maybe a person or two ay pwede kang tawaging poser.
but it's because each one of us has a certain definition for it.

@ knightmiklotov
yes it's really offending to be stereotyped
plus purkit ayaw ko nang tawagin akong rakista doesn't make me a poser that instant.
i mean a lot of people would call you rocker/rakista pero the fact is that most people who tell you that don't know a thing therefore using the most common term for a guy/girl who is in a band.

the term  'rakista' minsan ay parang nakakabadtrip pakinggan kasi parang sobrang 'commercialized' yung term. It's a catch-all term para madefine at ma-profile ang isang target market.

so why the hell would I be offended by being called one because its exactly what its called heheheheheheeehe

---------------------

walang poser poser sa rock. may kanya kanyang levels of eliticism mga tao eh..... music is not something sacred that a chosen few can only enjoy. everyone has the right to like and enjoy music to his or her own way and interpretation.

What if for example gumigitara ka at the same time basurero ka rin? It really doesn't make sense what you did there.

There is such things as posers in anything, people will try to fit in and will not be themselves. I'm sure most of us encountered someone wearing Vans shoes and a Pantera shirt and they're not in a way involved with that kind of music.
Posers exist in rock music. I don't have a problem with people listening to music I don't like, but I have a problem with people who pretends just for the sake of being called a "rakista".

It's stereotyping that I hate, but then again who cares.

------------------------------

so does that mean i do not have the right to wear a Dillinger Escape Plan tshirt to a gig because i do not even know what the hell that band is?

wearing a band shirt is not a summary statement of a persons musical taste. my dad wears my pantera shirts to work, and it certainly does not make him a poser.... he wears it because he feels comfortable wearing it.

yun nga eh, rakista has its stereotypes. its just a label, they way we label a pickup a pickup, a truck a truck, and a sedan a sedan.

in analogy

A pickup the size of a sedan with small wheels should be called a poser car then?  :-D

-------------------

my point sir is that music is nothing based on what you wear, what you know, and all the high and mighty going on in the music scene pissing on the posers and the kids.

we shouldn't care about the kids wearing makeup and dancing to Fall Out Boy while wearing Sepultura shirts.

they're having fun. its what makes them happy. we should respect them because for them it defines who they are as an individual and in a democratic free country like the Philippines, each of us is entitled to do so.

I'm not dissing anyone, what's democracy got to do with this? So with that logic I'm also "entitled" to be offended kapag may tumawag sa akin ng rakista?Tama ba? Entitled din ako to voice out my opinion about posers. It makes me happy.

They are annoying pretentious people, posers. People have every right to wear what the eff they wanna wear but it does sometimes make them look stupid.

In the case of your Dad wearing that Pantera shirt, kaparehong kaso niyan ng nakasabay ko sa palengke na nanay na naka Cradle of Filth na shirt. But then again, baka nakikinig nga si ate ng Cradle of Filth kahit sa age niya na yun. I don't identify posers as I see them, kinakausap ko then I will know.

now lets break this down based from your answers.

I'm not dissing anyone -

read back and you just dissed the posers. Which you defined as -- >"I'm sure most of us encountered someone wearing Vans shoes and a Pantera shirt and they're not in a way involved with that kind of music."

Diss - To show disrespect to, often by insult or criticism (Dictionary.com)

Anyone - Usage Note: The one-word form anyone is used to mean "any person." The two-word form any one is used to mean "whatever one (person or thing) of a group. (Dictionary.com)

basically you dissed posers, so it invalidates your sentence indicating not dissing anyone.

------------

They are annoying pretentious people, posers. People have every right to wear what the eff they wanna wear but it does sometimes make them look stupid.

Define stupid wearing. In the 50's, wearing shorts was stupid. In the 80's the mullet was cool, nowadays its stupid to wear. Stupid is as subjective as it can go and it morphs with every music generation that passess.

-----

In the case of your Dad wearing that Pantera shirt, kaparehong kaso niyan ng nakasabay ko sa palengke na nanay na naka Cradle of Filth na shirt. But then again, baka nakikinig nga si ate ng Cradle of Filth kahit sa age niya na yun. I don't identify posers as I see them, kinakausap ko then I will know.

You just ate what you said.

Case in point your statement :

There is such things as posers in anything, people will try to fit in and will not be themselves. I'm sure most of us encountered someone wearing Vans shoes and a Pantera shirt and they're not in a way involved with that kind of music.

highly debatable, but thats in a way a defensive mechanism to say that "I will ask someone before I make a judgement"

thats fine with the daily routine of life.... what about in a gig with 20,000 people?
do you need to ask each and everyone at the gate?

so why all the alta-presyon with the posers, when in context, you define everyone like example... my dad as a poser based on his AGE and shirt prefence? so you just said, without asking and in correct linear context of the paragraph, that you ajudged my dad to be a poser because his shirt does not match his age by idea alone?  :-D :-D

 :-D

-------------------------------------------

dude my point is simple.

the music scene of the Philippines is crapping on itself because we have elitists everywhere.... the high and mighty who think their music should be only availble to the chosen few ears.

The "posers" deserve a right of the musical pie so-to-speak.

classic saying yan lahat: do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.

then proceed from there.

and this is FTW.

and to end my arguement on the Rakista issue......

When you get old enough and gain enough experience in the music scene you realize its a great marketing hype to label something. It clearly identifies a target audience. The mere fact there is a standing debate here about the word "Rakista" furthers the marketing concept of the word.

------------------------------

Thats what many Filipinos are good at (me included).

Bantay ng galaw ng ibang tao and comment about it.

Ah, oo tama. Noong grade six ako. Kupal kasi 'yung kaklase ko eh. Inagaw 'yung NBA cards ko, na-damage tuloy. Nilait ko na lang siya ng todo. :-D

Ngayon, hindi ako nanglalait kasi unang-una wala akong karapatang mang-lait. Ikaw ba?
