May review si bosticman (Derek Roddy forums) beyond 200bpm 16ths it doesn't feel anything like axis, dun mo mararamdaman raw ang weight difference :-o

it doesn't lack the features on what the Axis has. My neighboor already has one. Came from the US from his dad he's this rich kid and all. It is fast, but there's this certain weight that you can feel when hitting 200bpm. im still interested in getting one myself though. Just too costly haha.

demon drive... meron na daw yung friend ko, about 2 months ago daw nabili ng uncle nya in a music store sa canada yata or australia, i forgot. if you get to see how many drum kits (signature kits mostly) and music equipment he has, im telling you he's not one to lie about this. then a friend of mine told me he saw demon drives sa tom lee hongkong 2 weeks ago. he even called me and asked if he should buy them kasi magpapaalam pa daw sya sa misis nya. i guess naglabas na sila ng limited stocks in selected stores before the official release. baka mga demo units yun but they sold it anyway. i better ask them for pics i guess hehe...

Guys, got a word with Jonathan Rayos, the product specialist for the drums division of JB Music and he told me that they ordered new items from Pearl that includes the Demon drive. As far as he can recall, they'll be pricing the demon drive at approximately between 30k-32k and 13k-15k for P-3002D(double pedal) and P-2002C(single pedal) respectively. No exact TAT yet according to him but this controversial pedal from Pearl would soon land Philippine shores. Other Pearl items that they also ordered were 900 and 1000 series HW and another set of Signature snare drums.

nabanggit ko lang ang price comparison pero wala akong plan bumili kahit alin dyan (at least in the near future ;-) ). Mahihirapan akong magjustify bumili ng ganyang kamahal na pedal eh bano naman ung paa ko :-)

eto lang ang masasabi ko..
-too fancy...mukhang ang target nila ay yung mga "rich kids"..if you knwo what i mean :lol: -not a "real" longboard pedal (kasi pwede mo siya i set as a longboard or regular) kasi nakalitaw yung swivel sa dulo therefore may nakaharang pa din -interesting beater...almost similar to rubber beaters pero round siya.. -i would rather buy an Axis or a Trick pedal :-)

nice pedal. malambot yung feel. not as adjustable/customizable as the old elims (P-2001/2 with the different colored cams and all) but still, more customizable/adjustable than other direct drive pedals. and i think it's pretty hard/impossible to have interchangeable cams on a direct drive pedal such as the DD.
to be fair, i've only heard (no first hand hands-on experience on tinkering) about the adjustability of other direct drive pedals so i don't think i'm the most reliable one to ask. nakatry lang ako ng axis once or twice sa mga music shops. as for the trick, hindi ko pa natry.
all i can say is, if you want a super flexible direct drive pedal, then you might want to look at the DD. that's what blew my mind with this pedal. uber-adjustable since hindi naman lahat ng paa ng mga drummers ay magkakapareho. it's built like a tank. may lock pa for the spring tension so it would always stay the same as how you set it (was a problem for me with my old pedal).
though i think using "special NINJA bearings" is a bit of an overkill. i don't think it would make a difference on such a nanoscale like that (the NINJA bearings are supposed to be nano-micro-polished or something like that). and the price is sorta steep. plus, the "drum key/allen wrench" combo that came with it sucks. the drum key is ok pero yung allen wrench nakalbo na agad hindi na masyado kumakagat. though may kasama naman na separate allen wrenches (3 pieces diff sizes) so ok lang. and like intake said, hindi nga talaga siya "longboard" like axis or trick since may hinge pa rin sa dulo. not a traditional longboard pedal as we know it.
overall i think this is a great pedal. medyo mahal lang (mejo nagbawas ako ng gamit dahil sa GAS) and some issues with the drum key. but if you're a stickler for adjustability and want a pedal to suit YOU (not the other way around), check the DD out.
ayan, 98 cents na lang barya ko.

I love the demon drive! hehe Although a friend of mine recently purchased this, he had to let it go in favor of his good old axis long boards. On a personal note, I think it is indeed a big leap from the elims but you get less long board benefits with this compared to axis (i wouldnt know but my bud whos a bit of a speed freak thinks so). :-)

Saw the demon drive this morning at JB sm north.P24,600 for the double peds and P9K+ for the single peds.Lots of adjustment can do to this demon drive,all i can say is MAGANDA PALA TALAGA!!!AYUS... 8-)

tama ka jan sandy! mejo mahina nga ung Control Core Felt Beater niya. sinubukan ko gamitan ng quadbeater at nagkaroon ng buhay mehn. AS IN! madami akong nabasa na reviews na halos lahat sila eh nag try ng ibang beater. karamihan sa kanila gumamit ng quadbeater. iba naman, ic rubber beater(pero hindi ko pa nattry kung ano feel). gusto ko rin subukan ung Control Core Wood Beater (kaso wala ng pambili). hehe.

isa pang comment ko is the Footboard. Yes i know it can be turned to a Longboard. Sabi sa site converting it to longboard gives you additional 2inches leverage.
I put them head to head( i'll try na ma picturan ko) it's actually less than an inch difference ng dalawang footboards. Elims has the longest footboard for Split(short) board category compared to DW(w/c is wider naman compared to pearls).
Eto naman reason why i want to buy the DD. 1. it's cheaper here than US. Sa mga nag sasabing bibile sila sa tom lee, save yourself money, buy here instead. 2. Parang masarap mag try ng longboards.
Pero the reason i don't want this is as Peeves said to me before. " Sanay tayong lahat sa Chain and Split type board. Pag nag DD ka for sure babalik ka ren sa Chained Split conventional pedals"
That comment made me think again so I'm delaying my Birthday GAS for anotheer week or so...
nah nah nah dah dami kong sat sat!! Hehehe :mrgreen:

isa pang comment ko is the Footboard. Yes i know it can be turned to a Longboard. Sabi sa site converting it to longboard gives you additional 2inches leverage.
I put them head to head( i'll try na ma picturan ko) it's actually less than an inch difference ng dalawang footboards. Elims has the longest footboard for Split(short) board category compared to DW(w/c is wider naman compared to pearls).
Eto naman reason why i want to buy the DD. 1. it's cheaper here than US. Sa mga nag sasabing bibile sila sa tom lee, save yourself money, buy here instead. 2. Parang masarap mag try ng longboards.
Pero the reason i don't want this is as Peeves said to me before. " Sanay tayong lahat sa Chain and Split type board. Pag nag DD ka for sure babalik ka ren sa Chained Split conventional pedals"
That comment made me think again so I'm delaying my Birthday GAS for anotheer week or so...

I'd have to agree with Peeves bro. dun sa studio kung san kami nagppractice the owner bought DD single pedal. smooth no question. then sunday nacurios ako, pinaconvert ko to longboard. smooth parin pero nahirapan ako. kulang sa power e. i ended up na pagod yung right leg. last weekend binalik ko sa shortboard hehehe. that's just me bro. :) one thing i don't like also kasi hindi flat ang footboard ng DD. mejo nakaumbok dun sa me 'Pearl' dial (yung shiny part) yung meron for traction plates, hindi mashado makaslide paa ko lalo na nakachinelas lang ako. and i think yung shiny part din ata matraction sa rubber. i think lang.
well that's just me. DD is still a great product. I'm sticking to my DW for now. :)

yung bottom (CHROME) AKALA ko nung una gawa sa plastic, nung kinalas ko kanina METAL pala. so no worries na ako dun.
ung top (BLACK) gawa sa plastic. parang ung mga katulad sa IC. pero hindi na issue yun kasi hindi naman siya ang naghahawak ng tension kaya mas importante ung bottom para sa akin. pero syempre hindi ilalagay ng pearl yan jan kung walang gamit. hehe. it keeps the spring tension assembly in place (para hindi umalog). at sa tantsa ko eh hindi bibigay ito.
concern ko nalang ngayon eh mag-try ng iba't ibang beater dahil parang ang hina talaga ng dating saking ng felt beater niya.
bili ka na rin sandy! :-)

gusto ko i-try ung wood beater pero i need patch muna, for sure bubutasin nun ang drumhead ko. on the felt beater, may nabasa ako sa isang thread na kaya "DAW" mahina ang feel niya dahil "DAW" ito sa control core niya which act as shock absorbers. so ang tendency "DAW" eh bawas na ung vibration or almost wala na kaya feeling mo mahina pero sa mga nakakarinig "DAW" except the "user" eh malakas daw talaga ang dating at may "PUNCH" talaga. may point naman diba? mukhang totoo naman. but still, gusto ko parin i-try ang iba't ibang beater. that's just me. :wink:

played with the DD for hours last week sa Guitar Center.
I'm comparing Trick, Axis and the DD
Demon Drive ay okay sa bansa natin DAHIL sa spare parts available ng Pearl sa bansa natin, performance wise the Trick is still the most responsive pedal and did I mention the BEST beater among the 3.
I'm an axis user so I've played with it for years and used to the feel ng direct drive pedals, after fixing the spring tension of the DD it is not as responsive as the Axis pedal or the Trick pedal.
The "Longboard" is not that long, comparing it to my pedal the DD's have a shorter one.
Since dito naman tayo sa Pilipinas, suggest ko DD dahil in case something happens JB Music is there to save you with spare parts on sale and dito ata pinakamura ang DD.
If habol niyo lang direct drive and haven't tried one yet I suggest trying one first baka sa huli mag sisi kayo dahil expensive ang DD, for sure maninibago kayo sa feel. Think and decide wisely and hanapin mo yung mas comfortable ang paa mo, I had fun trying this pedal rin but after attempting to push beyond 230ish BPM dun ko na naramdaman yung big difference nila sa trick and axis :-o
IMHO the belt drive eliminator is more reliable 8-)

-too fancy...mukhang ang target nila ay yung mga "rich kids"..if you knwo what i mean :lol: -not a "real" longboard pedal (kasi pwede mo siya i set as a longboard or regular) kasi nakalitaw yung swivel sa dulo therefore may nakaharang pa din -interesting beater...almost similar to rubber beaters pero round siya.. -i would rather buy an Axis or a Trick pedal :-)
If you have the money then buy axis... Though you will be stuck with a longboard.. you don't have the option of converting it from normal to longboard.
another thing is... you said that the TARGET market are "RICH KIDS" pero you will be buying AXIS which is more expensive than the DD.. And besides, the materials used and technology applied to this gear is a really good bang for the buck! Magkano DW9002 compared sa DemonDrive?? ang layo diba!! :roll:
in closing, have taken into consideration the OTHER Features of the DD like, ninja bearings, adjustable beaters which Pearl DD have and the other don't have.. (have you tried the DD or the Axis btw for you to give that comment?)

at first medyo maguluhan ka dahil ang dami pwede maging settings?! first try at setting up the pedal to my specifications, shortboard tapos sagad tension ng spring (sagad sa higpit) didnt quite work for me ang bigat ng feel ng beater 2nd attempt i just converted it to a longboard!!! ayun huli settings! used my pedal once pa lang sa tugtog and i really enjoyed it!!

Every pedal has its strengths and weaknesses...Brands such as Pearl, DW, Tama, Axis, Trick etc continue to re-invent these so called machines to give drummers the justification they need for their playing. You may end up buying the different brand or end up buying the pedal which the majority use...My point here is that whatever you choose, put your heart into it. What seperates you from others is the amount you spent practicing. I too have tried different pedals, I can't take away anything from them because each brand has their feature/s which one of us would be glad to spend their money's worth. In my own opinion, it is the drummer that should adapt to the pedal's performance and not vice versa. You can't teach these pedals, but you can learn or find ways to execute them through hours and hours of practicing.
It is okay to give reviews on a product, but make sure you have tried or at least have one, studied it and gave time using it.
I bought a Demon Drive 4 days ago and until now, i still can't make such reviews because of it's many features it has to offer...it would be unfair. But if you think your last visit to the store was enough to put words on the Demon Drive or any pedal out there...think again. :|

kaya tayo nag tatalo kasi iba iba talaga feel ng mga paa naten.
For me personally feel is not a serious issue here. It's super adjustable naman kaya madaling ma tweek to your preference. My only concern is the Power of this pedals. Ngayun nabasa ko sa mga reviews try to change the beaters to Quad beaters and malalaman mo ang difference.
Well that's just me. If only i can borrow from someone who has kahit a week maganda mahanap ko ang settings ko.
BTW. I bought ELIMS pala. Reasons? Namurahan ako at natuwa ako sa feel ng Red Cams.Hehehe

Still working though about settings, pero masarap sa binti ata di hassle sa paa perfect pedal for me as for now hehehe!

ako kakakuha ko lang ng ic beaters kahapon sa south...try ko yung wood...di ko pa nasusubukan, sabi nila di daw maganda rebound nitong wood. check ko maya.
EDIT: may nakakaalam ba kung ano ang pwedeng i-substitute sa NINJA oil for the DD bearings? medyo paubos na yung akin. thanks!

Ang ganda ng impact ng beaters sa head...ang napansin ko kasi sa quad beaters ng elims, maganda din kaya lang kung mapapansin niyo yung topmost part ang mas mabilis maupod kung plastic side ang ginagamit mo...hindi ganun lapat ang impact compared sa IC beaters. Dead on center talaga ang tama. Tapos since wood siya, mas matigas ang attack, almost same ng plastic. :-D

ang isa sa napansin ko kasi talaga sa DD, di siya nawawala sa rythm ng playing mo. laging andun lang sa paa mo yung pedal. ito isa sa mga settings ko, pero ngayon ito ang ginagamit ko. i set the configurations in this order.
set to longboard footboard angle: 1 notch higher than medium....dahil longboard set ko...gusto ko mas mataas ng konti para mas may room ang pedal action beater action: power mode...this gives leverage for added momentum. beater height: stock (IC beaters)...it makes the attack stronger. footboard action: finesse mode...aside sa longboard, finesse mode make the pedal more sensitive for smaller motions. tractions: rubber...siguro preference lang to...ayaw ko yung masyado madulas. hehe spring tension: 60-70%...hinuhuli ko yung spring tension kasi malaking factor yan sa response. hanapin niyo yung tension na kung saan kumportabe ka.
sa ganitong setting mas magaang siya, pero hindi nawawala yung power na kailangan mo...para sakin yan ha...depende parin, ngayon yung spring ang magbabago ng feel sa pedal...kaya suggest ko yan ang ihuli niyo hanngang makuha niyo na kumportable kayo. goodluck...
pero nung eb set

ang napansin ko kasi sa quad beaters(elims stock beaters) maganda talaga 4 sided pa, pero kung papansin mo yung plastic pag matagal m na ginagamit, ganun din eh, patusok yung tama kaya yung upod ng beater more sa top kaso sa center talaga...sa DD men, pede mo naman maneuver yun kasi seperate ang adjustment ng mismong beater holder. pero yun nga, pag di ka satisfied...mahirap yan...sana nalang man ma enjoy mo din yung pedal as much as kung gaano ako kasaya sa upgrade ko.

pagkatapos ng buong araw na ito sa kakalikot ng demonyo, parang niloko ko lang sarili ko. haha. it turned out na bumalik din ako sa dating setting ko. wahaha. mas naappreciate ko na lalo ang DD ko. i love longboard setting na talaga! if i want more power, i just have to switch to shortboard mode while leaving the other settings na gamit ko sa longboard. gusto ko na talaga i-try ang ic rubber at felt. :|

ayan,. problema sa feel at settings.. hehehe.. cguro sa spring tension lang nag kakatalo.. di ba merong 3 types ng spring? small, medium & large..? ung small yung pnaka mabigat.. yung large naman ang magaang pero mabilis ang response.. try nyo lng po kaya gamitin yung large na spring at itodo yung spring tension.. sa totoo lang generic lang yung pedal ko.. hehehe..

Discounted price is 24,600 sa Double Pedal, sa single pedal naman is 9.8k. Not sure though if they still offer discount. Best to go to the nearest JB music store near you since sila ang nag carry ng pearl products. hth :wink:

may nabasa ako sa pearldrummersforum about sa ninja bearings... ninja bearings ay klase ng skateboard bearing diba? in theory, pag ang ordinary pedal mo ay palitan mo ng skateboard (ninja) bearing, makakatulong daw yun sa response ng pedal... given na ang ninja bearings ay hindi considered as the best skateboard bearing.

may DD ako pero hindi rin nakatulong sa performance ko... ramdam ko yung smoothness and response niya vs old elims pero same results... technique ko yung may problema.
ika nga nila... "wala sa pana yan, nasa INDYAN!"

agree ako dito, kasi kahit ako nung nagtest ako sa jb ng DD mejo nagdalawang isip ako bumili. pero nung nakabili ako at naiuwi na yung pedal, dun ko nahanap yung feel na gusto ko dahil sa mga settings na pwedeng gawin. and i replaced my beater to speedball, for me DD talaga yung hanap ng paa ko hehe :-D

imho, you can't compare belt drive pedals with direct drive pedals. Flexibility saan? I'm a former strap drive and chain user (pearl elims), from my experience masasabi ko lang is may konting "lag" ung strap drive as compared sa chain drive. Then na discover ko, ung "feel" ng strap drive eh nakukuha ko when using the red cam sa chain drive.
Pero ngayon direct drive gamit ko (di nga lang DD) night and day ang difference as compared sa chain and strap drive pedals. Mas matagal nag adjust ung paa ko sa direct drive. hehehe after 4 months of trial and error sa settings eh nakuha ko rin ung gusto kong "feel".
Naka try na rin ako nang DD nung grand EB (courtesy of unknown_user), dun sa setting na ginawa ni papa jack eh natuwa ako sa sensitivity and responsiveness ng DD. :wink:
talking about adjustability (if there is such a word)/flexibility issues, hands down ako sa demon drive. Ika nga nila, you get what you pay for. hth :evil:

pinaka nagustuhan ko yung Z-link feature nya, ngayon lang ako naka experience ng ganito ka responsive na slave pedal :lol:
I agree. Nanibago nga ako. Usually naga-adjust pa sa feel ng slave pedal yung left foot ko e. But now, pareho talaga e.
I have to switch to longboard though for the heel/toe. Di kasya paa ko e. :-D

Guys,help naman..pkishare naman ng set up nyo sa DD double peds in terms of beater angle,Footboard level,spring tension,etc...Pbago bago kc ako ng set up,thanks..guday!! 8-)

Basic setup, the best! Tension spring lang inadjust ko.. All in all swabe na siya saken..
