O, dito naman yung mga mahilig sa resonator gtrs. Yupangks doesn't carry them so...
I was all over this Johnson Triolian once I spotted it at a store last Sat. After trying it for a few minutes, I was hooked and had to take it home! It's warmer sounding than a metal body resonator (hello?!) so pwede sya pang fingerstyle/ragtime but also a different, smoother tone for slide too. Less banjoish compared to the metal resonator. Kewl!

My other Johnson acoustic is now unemployed and for sale. :-)

pede ba yan sa pa-strum strum lang? just like your regular kanto guitar playing technique

if you're referring to the Triolian i just got, pwede sya. that's how i played and tested it at the store, and it's set-up and action is really like a regular acoustic altho at the back of my head i already knew i can play slide with it. pero it's a different sound from a regular acoustic tho. mas punchy and middy vs scooped. not as much sustain also but you get awesome volume especially at a distance. so it's easier and better to just external mic this instead of using on-board piezo pu gtrs (which most gtrsts don't like but have to live with).

Spit and elbow grease. :D
Ewan ko, bro. Ganyan na yan nung nabili ko, pranelang basahan lang naman ang pinanlinis ko.

Mmm... Dobro guitar. I think I saw one at RJ-glorrieta. Darned expensive too.

The natural finish w/ cutaway? It's been for sale since year 2000 ata. I tried it dati dun sa old and bigger pwesto nila sa Galleria. It's very dead sounding; not sure why (strings, setup???). Come to think of it, I've never liked Dobros.
I've played orig vintage metal body 1930s Nationals and iba talaga tone. Smooth and sweet. Even if you disregard price-point, the Johnsons are good replicas. Until they came out, a resonator was very prohibitive.
Funny how the virtues of technology and globalization are beneficial even to something so backwater as a resonator guitar for bottleneck blues.
