Title: WHAT'S THE MOST VERSATILE DISTORTION PEDAL FOR YOU?
Post by: CARABAO on April 08, 2006, 05:13:01 PM
go post. hehehe.

VERSATILITY = tonal options cover OD to METAL

for me: boss metal zone and sansamp gt2 (though this one is not a normal dist box)

no pedal + overdriven amp combinations and rackmounts (and other non-floor based units for that matter) please. thanks. hehe

:D

YO GUYS! OPINIONS on the BOSS KEELEY DS-1 Ultra MOD! is this really a marshall-in-a-box?? hmmmm...

really thinking of trading my sansamp gt2 for this and a dd3. is this a good decision? thanks! (btw, i currently use the sansamp gt2 for my drive needs, though sa dulo ng chain, naka on yung behringer gdi21 na nakaclean, so nde ganun kahirap magtimpla pag sa guitar input nakasaksak)

hmmm...depende sa amp siguro sir, ganda boss ds-1 keeley sa tube amp, marshall in a box talaga... pero kung solid state, i guess maganda mag stay with the gt...pero try mo parin...i may be wrong and i've never personally tried a gt2...rinig ko lang yung soundclips, sounded great!...i used to have a ds-1 keeley and it was awesome as well...feeling ko lang mas madaming tunog yung gt2 and it does emulation well (based on the clips that i've heard)

whoa. valveboy.

hmm.. naisip ko kasi, dahil ginagamit ko lang yung gt2 for drive pedal (most of the time for metal tones).. eh nasasayangan ako sa kanya. hehe.. at meron naman akong gt2 clone, yung gdi21. nde ko malet go yung gdi kasi may xlr output. nagkagig kami na kelangan nun, buti may gdi ako. wala kasi yung gt2 nun. haay. :( o well, i should still test the keeley mod. tignan ko. nanggaling kasi ako sa stock ds1 before i used sansamp. :)

Yeah! Marshall in a box ang dating. Very versatile. Problema lang hindi para hi gain. Kailangan mo ng booster to add more gain. Pero swabe ang tone. Kunin mo na!

Well, in the past, sasabihin ko na SansAmp GT-2 ang versatile. Pero ala na ko non, eh.  nabenta ko na, hehe.

Gusto ko talaga yong Valveboy pero pakipot pa si Markflo, eh. Pretty soon he will realize that he will not have a used for his Valveboy ones he hears his distortion channel from his soon to be acquired Laney amp. Then he will be beg me to buy his Valveboy from him, hehe

But for now... I'd say my Keeley DS-1.

Phil, I got this little boost pedal recently. Not quite an RC BOOSTER but works well for my need...

It's actually cool sounding in front of the KEELEY DS-1. Adds gain and sustain to the sound, If you tweak it right. I think this will give you that controlled feedback your looking for for your Legacy sound.

hmmm.. IMHO, hi gain ped din sya, pero yung tamang gain lang. whenever i use hi gain peds, like know (sa gt2 at sa dan electro fab metal), ang gain ko nasa kalahati lang, or less. mejo hanap ko yung crunch na may konting touch ng chug. hehe. parang ganun. timplahan na to. hahaha. at nanggaling din ako sa stock ds1, so sana makita ko yung improvement ng keeley. hehe :)

sir stratman, did you regret selling your gt2? dist ped mo ba sya before? have you tried plugging it into the guitar input? yun ang hirap sa experience ko with it eh. iba na ang tunog pag sinaksak sa guitar input, naglalaban na yung 2 preamps.

try the Bad Monkey first.. very smooth overdrive, no midrange hump, versatile pa with low and high controls, can act as an EQ and boost pedal plus its way cheaper than the others... the only downside is its waay to clean if ur looking for those gritty OD types...

ok ito pre eternity...3 in 1, treble booster, ultra clean i mean ultra, pair it with a delay and single coils nice clean slightly driven, big and loud
 bullet the blue sky sound.
You can also use it as a distortion pedal. At extreme settings this is a marshall in a box sound. I have a ssh strat i set the eternity just for clean slightly overdriven loud and clear sound.
Play nice and soft on the strings and its clean you dig in it bites, i switch to the hum and its all out bucker grind dirty blues. I wanna get one more but damn its expensive but worth the cash. 8)

Mesaboogie v-twin is the best.  Pero preamp siya.  What I do is plug it in the power amp in of any amp.  Astig.

from what iv'e tried so far(kontil lang naman). pinaka versatile ang SD2! Crunch channel nya parang Blues driver(as far as i remember ok?)at normal mode ng DS2.  and the lead channel sounds great!

I followed CARABAO's advice and got one as soon as  i found one for sale. hehehe salamat greg sa advice.

Hey walang inggitan its just a pedal 8) i tried acquiring one (KING OF TONE)pero ang haba ng waiting list. I think hina-hype nila itong pedal (supply and demand) para lalong tumaas at maging desirable lalo.

among those i've used, i'd say a Keeley modded Boss DS-1, AMZ OD Pro or a Rocktek Silver Dragon.

i've never used a Jekyll & Hyde before, but i don't think you can go wrong with that when it comes to versatility. it's kind of cheating though, since it's actually two pedals in one box.

too bad i never got to test a Tonebone when i had the chance.
