Ewan ko kung ako lang yun. I find it hard when I play a bass drum without pillow or internal muffling inside. Kasi if meron I can tighten the kick head para magkaron ng "Rebound" fill. Or there's something wrong sa technique ko. Pag i tighten naman the head w/o muffling eh mag tutunog CABINET naman yung kick :-(
May katulad bako dito?
-
May rebound naman kahit walang muffling, basta tight. I like the cabinet sound eh. :)

Maybe both! Hehehe
-
di makuha sa pag-adjust sa pedal? spring tension/etc....?
-

+1! in terms of sound preference, without internal muffling, cabinet sound talaga, pero lesser head tension would result sa "walang balik" feel.. magandang concept ung Remo Powersonic ESDS technology (External Snap-on Dampening System); if ever sa gigs/recording pwede mong ikabit to control sound and feel din.. kahit hindi mo dalhin ung actual skin, ung ESDS lang ang dala mo anytime para ikabit sa available skin sa set.. hope it helps out!

-
try putting a felt strip...like what john bonham or steve smith does. i tried it and i like the feel...its gives a livelier feel but has the right thump...did i make sense? hehe
-
powersonic ko 2 buwan butas agad. bad trip!
-
i don't put pillows inside the kick drum. on the resonant side i put felt strips horizontally siguro mga 3/4 ang sakop, tight reso head. btw, walang butas ang resonant side ng saken para mas full ang sound. on the batter head naman i put a foam lang sa ibaba, mga 1/4 ang sakop. loose tuning (pass wrinkle point). mejo ma-rebound dahil siguro sa walang butas ang reso head at tight. kahit hindi mo na lagyan ng pillow ayos na ayos ang decay. gusto ko ma-rebound ng unti ang kick drum. for me mas makakapag dynamics ka compare sa walang rebound. just my 2 cents.

hassle yun ah...
-

powersonic rin gamit ko ngayon, ok naman. more or less same principle as simon philip's towel on the batter head near/along the rim. at first nanibago ako kasi kinailangan ko higpitan yung head more than i was used to. pero so far so good.
-

i highly doube that. hehehe.

Tighten nalang the spring tension :-D I dislike bassdrums without pillows and stuff inside :-D I've never seen a bassdrum that does not have any crap inside of them :-D
-
Sir Sandy! Pareho tayo. hahaha. Though not too much muffling, also ung batter head lang ung nakatouch sa pillow. Ung resonant head free to well...resonate.
:-D
-
hmmm try niyo pong i compensate sir, siguro sa pedal by tightening the tension springs o kya ilayo pa ng konti ung beater from the point of origin para pagka inapakan mo mas malakas ung tama pati ung balik sau para me rebound siya.

hala bakit nabutas?

sabi ni tita weckl sakin... one way to remove the rebound from a unported reso head/tight tuning... is to puncture the reso head with a nail on each lug. para may lugar na paglalabasan ng hangin. para meron parin yung whole tone feel na meron sa unported reso without the slapback
-

-
loosen the bass drum head para mabawasan yung rebound effects

i already did that one too, maybe i should opt for a different pedal brand, the one im
using right now is the one that came with the mapex kit i bought...

nice idea sir! ^_^ applicable po ba sa any type of bass drum?

thanks, i think i'll try this one first before opting to buy a different pedal, have you done the porting by yourself? dapat pala dinala ko yung reso head ko nitong lumuwas ako...

Mukang informative tong topic na to regarding Muffling the bassdrum.
-
my kick is a 20x16 size.
As you can see, langgam na lang kulang puno na yung bassdrum. Hehehe.
For me mas mahirap itono ang mga 20" than the huge 22's kaya ayan ang kinalabasan.

Diko masabing maganda eh. Pero it sounded dryer and less body. Pati feel nun iba. Parang kinakain yung yung beater.
-
try niyo palibutan ng uratex foam yung bass drum hehe works every time just found out a while ago gaganda yung tunog ng bass drum mo for just 150 pesos hehe
