in anycase I like the sound of Madbean's crunch box, we have two versions of it, one populated with mylar caps just like the original CB posted in the early pages of the MI Audio Crunchbox thread in FSB and the other we used boxed caps instead of the mylars, both sound the same and I like them, so guess I like your shredhead too :D

Mark, all I can say is you're the man. People may try to bring you down for whatever reasons they may have but just continue doing your thing. When a person resorts to such actions, I usually say it's insecurity.
The way to go up in life is never to bring others down especially covertly. I don't know who did this but really, if the intention was to bring Mark down, sorry but it just says something about YOU. And why would you want to have such trait in you? Have some love for yourself...Don't destroy yourself by destroying others.
Domination through nullification (or making nothing of someone or his works) is one of the lowest things a person can do. Sadly, people go on using this mechanism and they destroy their own personal integrity in the process.
Mark's mod on the crunchbox circuit was really good (per those who have the SH; I haven't tried it). Sabi nung iba pag in-A/B mo sa totoong Crunch Box malayo.
And again, Mark is so open about the Shredhead being a modded Crunch Box. So what's the deal?

that's not really my problem lol I'm not a pedal builder, heck Im not even a guitarist... maybe you should blame the dude who started the thread there... for what its worth it aint me, I just ask questions that are relevant to my needs, hence the question about the mod, and how it fits underneath that board. Im in no way interested in decreasing mark's sales, I couldn't care less except for the question I posted. I did say I liked madbean's CB didn't I?

ok so here's the deal, this was posted in FSB, I went there, saw the thread and noticed the striking similarity between the SH's guts and the CB that I built from madbean's layout. That was my only argument lol, nothing there states "boycott the SH" or "MarkVs a criminal" lol, I dont see crab mentality there, its simply me finding something strikingly similar to something else and presenting it to the people. I did say I like the thing didn't I?

papi, that's actually clean pa nga eh. yung messy ay yung lousy yung pagkasolder and the pcb looks like a battle place for a WWIII :-D i kept this boutique pedal just the same as a "memento" (read: to remind myself to never ever spit a badly built pedal :-D).

very true... most praise the clones etc... markv didn't hide the fact that it is a clone with certain modifications... a lot of diy-ers do that... and those who are not able to construe the fact that one of our own was able to at least reach some level of fame, well... i hope you find what you're looking for...

I built it for myself. because I was too cheap to buy the real thing, plus I just wanted to experience the "building" process. on the selling side, I did post a diy pedal sometime last year I think, I couldn't even find the link anymore, haven't tried that since. I got a couple of inquiries but I pointed them back to the GC for other pedal builders as I do not have time to build anymore.

hmmmm mukhang magkamukha nga ng PCB kahit na may different mods si sir mark V, the PCB still looks the same as the said MADBEANS CB ok lang naman yun sa atin di ba kase tayong mga filipino musicians din naman and nagbenefit sa magandang tunog ng shreadhead the problem is, kumalat na sa international forum yung similarity ng dalawa if copyrighted yung PCB medyo magkakaproblema si sir mark (based sa looks similar nga) i suggest to change the PCB na lang as plugz suggested tutal may ibang mod pa si sir mark V na nakatago sa ilalim hope everything works fine and that no legal problems will erupt from this

dude i think it's not about crab mentality. i think the brouhaha over at FSB was more about the use of the pcb than it being a clone of crunchbox. actually cloning is essential and there is no law that prevents cloners from spitting copies since circuits cannot be patented.
i think papa mark will benefit greatly if he could ask someone to make a pcb of the SH for him. my 2cents.
btw, who is the FSB threadstarter?

Actually, ito ang nasa mind ko kaya ako kampi kay Mark. Kasi modded siya at aminado naman na modded.
Ang hindi ako agree sa clones. Kawawa yung nag-design ng pedal mismo. Just my opinion.

i dunno bout the shredhead.. although yeah, clone siya ng crunchbox.. sana man lang binago yung ciruit design or layout (i'm basing this from the pics shown earlier).. para naman may justification or perhaps a sense of ownership.. :-)

Whoa... I just read this thread now. Looks like another one of those ricabb7 vs. MonteAllums-type issues. You better do something about that PCB design, markv. Changing the component layout is the easiest solution to this problem and it's actually a pretty easy thing to do.

You've got to have a good reason why you would let go of the SH. Kaya yun mga nakikita kong nagbebenta sa classifieds ay sinasabi na "EMERGENCY PURPOSES". As for me, SH is really a keeper.

I'm affected because ang lalabo nung mga nagtatanggol. mali na nga tinatama pa..
I'm a diyer too.. i design my own pcb.. and I dont clone things to sell just a hobby.. Im an electronics enthusiast.

Well if indeed may na-violate si Mark, I'm sure Mark can come up with something to fix this. Poundcake is right din.
Like one of the forumer said, tulungan natin siya. Sayang ang Shredhead. MarkV has done something great and the results and testimonials prove it. In that sense, masasabi ko na magaling talaga ang tainga niya at skills niya sa pag-mod.
And again, hindi siya tunog Crunch Box daw. Probably better pa as said by most people. That's what I'm after and not to save money and get the Crunch box sound off from a clone.
I want the Shredhead sound!

pero yung PCB ang item na copyrighted and was not intended for commercial use and tanging si mark V ang makakasagot kung kinopya nya nga yung PCB or not i still suggest na palitan nya PCB nya before magkaproblema

if you would look sa tunay na guts ng crunchbox (oh.. maraming versions yan ha.. nasa version 4 na yata ang MI Audio CB).. yung presence knob niya ay nasa loob in a form of trim pot..
ang ginawa nung iba na nagtrace ay nilabas nalang yung trim pot na yun para madali i-adjust..
there are also other different variations ng layout especially on improving the sound quality.. pero it lahat nun ay based din sa crunchbox.. oks?..
may mga layout na may 11 resistors.. meron ding layout na may 8 resistors lang.. see?.. those are mods or modifications.. pero lahat niyan ay based parin sa MI Audio Crunchbox.. kumbaga, yung puso niyan ay crunchbox.. inayusan lang ng kaunti.. :-)
yun nalang ilabas yung Presence trim pot, modification na yun from the MI Audio Crunchbox.. same with the TS 808 clones ngayon.. merong may mga iba't-ibang modes ng clipping in the form of a mini toggle switch..
ayun lang.. parang ang dating lang kasi nung kay mark ay kopyang kopya yung kay madbean.. i'm not trying to stir anything up.. i'm just clarifying and explaining..

btw, the orig crunchbox layout is different from madbean's layout.. actually madami nang cloners na gumawa ng kani-kanilang PCB layout ng crunchbox, at isa na ako don, hehe! :lol:

hehe.. anybody can make their own enclosure.. hindi dahil iba enclosure ay iba na.. if you rehouse a legit MI Audio Crunchbox in a different housing and add your own cosmetic designs, would that be your original pedal work? i dunno. :-)

We could go round and around the whole issue of cloning and intellectual property. Ang daming gray areas dun, if you've seen threads about that issue elsewhere. What I find interesting about all this is the threadstarter on FSB. He joins the board just to 'dissect' the shredhead, and of all the boutique stomps he could dissect, he chose that. That's weird, and it's the chewy center in this hard candy.
Malungkot. I think we all have disagreements. And we don't necessarily get along with each other. But I think there is a line somewhere on which we choose to support each other, kahit galit ka sa tao. And that line has been crossed.

PCB designs, as far as i know.. cannot be patented.. pero there's this terms of agreement kasi or parang paalala na wag gamitin yung layouts niya for commercial purposes..
he gives it for free and shows it for everyone's enjoyment and satisfaction.. lalo na yung mga gusto sumubok ng personal DIY.. pero i think he finds it unethical kung yung mga ganun ay gagamitin pa for commercial reasons.. perhaps that was what he intends..

Eh wala naman talaga ako alam, hobby builder din ako and as much as possible, Magkakaiba ang hitsura ng ginagawa ko. So talagang labas na yung issue ng pag mass produce ng pedals. Hangga't maaari, ilalagay ko yung sa likod yung credits ng pcb layout. Yung mga crunchbox clone na ginawa ko,si Nicko (cacophony) gumawa nun (salamat bro!), and mostly tonepad, gaussmarkov, etc. What I do is, do it for the person who CANNOT do it. Paint it with the color na gusto nila, designs nila.
Pwede naman tayo magtulungan instead na jealousy ang pairalin. Masama nyan ang pangit na ng kinalabasan. Di ko lang alam bakit kailangan dun pa sa int'l thread paabutin. Nakakalungkot. :cry:

Ako aminado ako na I can't make my own PCB designs. And never ako nag claim na akin to or yun. Eh wala naman talaga ako alam, hobby builder din ako and as much as possible, Magkakaiba ang hitsura ng ginagawa ko. So talagang labas na yung issue ng pag mass produce ng pedals. Hangga't maaari, ilalagay ko yung sa likod yung credits ng pcb layout. Yung mga crunchbox clone na ginawa ko,si Nicko (cacophony) gumawa nun (salamat bro!), and mostly tonepad, gaussmarkov, etc. What I do is, do it for the person who CANNOT do it. Paint it with the color na gusto nila, designs nila.
Pwede naman tayo magtulungan instead na jealousy ang pairalin. Masama nyan ang pangit na ng kinalabasan. Di ko lang alam bakit kailangan dun pa sa int'l thread paabutin. Nakakalungkot. :cry:

Yeah totoo. Kaya nga sabi ko mahirap talaga. Hindi talaga tama mag-accuse ng iba. Kailangan may matibay na ebidensya. Human right natin na INNOCENT TAYO 'TILL PROVEN GUILTY. And another thing na sinabi ko is yung intention din nung nag-post. Factor din yun aside from the "who".
Pero I believe it's one thing that needs to surface. That was my point.
Well kung sino man yun, ang alam ko lang, "what goes around, comes around".

bro i think unfair din kasi ke madbean yung pag gaya ng layout nya dapat me permiso nya yun if ever gagamitin sa negosyo yung lang mali ni mark dapat iniba nya yung layout nung PCB.... electricians artwork yan PCB lang yung canvas.. pwede mo ikumpara sa imitation na designer shirt... pero mark dont worry gawan kita ng ibang layout ng crunch box tapos kaw na bahala sa mga parts ng mod mo sa underside...

I have to agree with Poundcake and balakubak33. To Mark, I guess you just need two steps in order to save you and your SH. First, use a new layout provided by plugzzzz or anyone who has and willing to offer their CB layout for that matter. Second, try to acknowledge those who assisted you not just on building your pedal/s but also here in the forums. I myself am proud for the success of SH. Kudos man! :-)

that's not really my problem lol I'm not a pedal builder, heck Im not even a guitarist... maybe you should blame the dude who started the thread there... for what its worth it aint me, I just ask questions that are relevant to my needs, hence the question about the mod, and how it fits underneath that board. Im in no way interested in decreasing mark's sales, I couldn't care less except for the question I posted. I did say I liked madbean's CB didn't I?

i used to do that, pang push ung YJM sa SH. since the YJM has no tone control, perfect for the boost. a little less Gain & little Level up, sakto to push the ShredHead.
but i have developed being a volume-control-user eh. so now, i just use the SH alone as a distortion, pag OD iba, to boost for solos, either using my EQ or crank my guitar volume knob from "4" to "10". the YJM308 is now a "back-up pedal" for emergency..

At mga bro, iwasan natin ang post na gatong dito, lumalala lang.
Tip lang bro (markv) - changing the layout will change the sound a little bit because of inductance. Constant circuit ika nga. Kaya mo namang gawan ng paraan yan
