I am. :-(
-
I am not. I am really hoping that it would be cured at the soonest possible time. Though it is not as severe as before. :-)
-
I'm afraid it would never heal
-
I'm afraid it would never heal
Para bang love? Bwahahhaha!
-
I am afraid rin it would never heal, hehe, sana matapos na to,

contentment. the cure for GAS.
i like this.. hehe.. it's all in the mind..
-
but being the discontented fool that i am, siguradong hindi ako mako-cure dito :-D

-
tone is in the fingers.. GAS is all in the mind..
hindi ba nasa tiyan?
-
well what i do to alleviate gas
is to make checklist of things that i would want to buy and i would put in the target and the budget for it
though to be honest the list gets populated once i see reviews
for example i have the monster rig list
that has botique pedals mostly
im gassing for a line 6 dl4 and a fulltone fulldrive mosfet 2
if ang gas nasa tiyan talaga
isang labasan cured ka na temporarily
pero mapupuino uli ng gas ang tiyan so it becomes a perpetual cycle :D
hahhahahah
-
so like DIY, GAS is a sumpa? patay.
-
same with music, GAS is ever evolving! like music, it's not a disease to begin with. :-D

I beg to disagree with anyone saying that contentment is the cure for GAS. Money, or lack thereof, is the cure for GAS. Anyone with cash to burn will always be afflicted with GAS because he can afford to be afflicted with it. I am willing to bet that if you give any "contented" fellow a $1000 gift cheque for gear, chances are he will accept it. That is not true contentment. BS. It is simply human nature. The sad truth is that anyone who says he is contented says so because in reality he has no choice but to be contented.
PS - its good to be back. hehe

+1.
what a way for a comeback post.
-
Am not really afraid about GAS being healed. Instead am more afraid that GASSING won't be as fun hehehe :-D
Best,
NINJeremy

what about those who later realize they dont really need all those fancy pedals and decide to go straight to amp instead? contentment may be expressed in other forms as well, like buying only what suits him best. knowing your priorities also helps cure gas, and gaining knowledge over time of what he simply needs vs. what his wallet could accommodate.
there is a world of difference between GAS and smart spending IMO.
-
don't be afraid, I am your friend lol :-D
everybody is gassing for something.
list your goals, work for it, when you get it, its all worth it. why? because at the end of the line, it is the journey that counts. :-)
-
and you will be healed from gas.
-
^^ I'd rather have GAS
Best,
NINJeremy
-
^^ me too.
@rm, wala na bang pwede ibaba yung quote price ng Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul GX? :-D :-D :-D
-
The words GAS and HEALED never work in the same sentence.

I agree, knowing your priorities will definitely help subdue GAS. For those who realize they prefer going straight to amp - downsizing doesnt necessarily mean wanting less, it just means they want something different. There is still the amp and guitar to improve on. They still "want".
Yes, proper knowledge of what you are spending on is extremely important. However, strictly speaking, buying what is most practical does not always translate to contentment. You fulfill the need, but not the desire. Settling for less is contentment by default - just as I mentioned in my earlier post, you have no choice but to subdue your desire because you are driven to be practical. It is wise, but only if you concede to the fact that there is still something better out there. In most cases, you know that you do not need it, but you still know you want it. Practicality is relative to capacity, so like I said.. most people who have the cash to burn (all other priorities considered) will suffer from GAS. Contentment, just like anything in this world, is temporary so it is not a cure.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the only way to cure GAS is to give in. lol. kidding
There is actually NO PERMANENT CURE - except getting another hobby.
-
-
-
depende din kasi sa tao yan. kahit pa bilyonaryo pa yan kung solved na lahat ang mga wants nya sa gear nya eh siguradong subdued na ang GAS nyan kahit he still has money to burn. when you have already identified what you really need versus what you just want at the moment, ultimately darating yung panahon na GAS becomes a thing of your past.
still, i go by the contentment thing. when you already know and have what you need regardless of the price/quality/quantity/other factors, kahit pa siguro may extra ka pang cash eh you wont be spending foolishly on impluse buys that you know will serve no purpose naman pala but to add to your collection of unused gear that were only bought because "cool" magkameron nung item na yun, but consequently having very little use pala.
ah, kaming mere mortals
-
ah, kaming mere mortals

One's lifestyle is directly affected by his/her financial capability, so kahit milyonaryo hindi pa rin yan nakokontento dahil ang difference lang nila sa atin ay mas mahal at mas esoteric ang mga inaasam nila. It is human nature to desire. As one becomes more knowledgeable and exposed, the wants do not go away - they simply evolve. Even if you have identified your needs vs wants, nandun pa rin yung 'wants'. In other words, GAS. Or maybe we have different definitions of both contentment and GAS? Contentment for me is satisfying both needs AND wants. Which IMO is close to impossible kasi it is constantly evolving. In any case, I humbly respect your opinion.

I learned only about G.A.S due to philmusic... :|
before I joined I only had a guitar, a 10 watts practice amp and a zoom g2.1u and I used that exclusively for 4 years
ngayon I have 5 stomp boxes, mahal na cables, bagong guitar, yung amp on the way naring papalitan. hehe (note that I only joined around january :) )
more knowledge leads to more gas talaga...
oh well, kung walang internet walang akong mababasa na reviews and all, so in my opinion the inernet is the mother of GAS. :)
It's a psychological thing, ahdunno hehe tsaka inaacknowledge kasi natin na may such thing as GAS kaya in effect mapapabili ka talaga.
So to answer the question, no I'm not afraid that my GAS will be healed cause as long as the internet lives, may GAS parin and I'm sure di pa mamamatay yung Cyber world any time in the future.
-
before my PM life, one of the forumers here kept on telling me about gears, philmusic and such. i usually tell him before that tone is in the fingers and mas maganda pa magpractice (i'm a heavy practicer). i even met the owner of pm at one of my gigs (jim ayson) and when he said he owned this site, i just acknowledged and it basically meant nothing to me...
boy i was so wrong before. lol.
yes, GAS caught me.
im sick

When I get an M13 and Gibson ES-335
HEALED NAKO wahahaha

Or maybe we have different definitions of both contentment and GAS?
eto nga paps yung iniisip ko kahapon pa. GAS for me kasi is an insatiable urge to get something because i so want it, in contrast sa pagbili because i need it. parang "buying what i need" vs. "needing to buy".
Contentment for me is satisfying both needs AND wants. Which IMO is close to impossible kasi it is constantly evolving.
contentment can also be in the form of wanting nothing, or giving up everything. anak ng, mukang malabo kong mahanap itong bagay na to. tayong mere mortals :-D
sino ba kasing naka-imbento ng internet? sya dapat sinisisi eh :-D
-
ako my gas stopped. naubos kse budget ko sa bagong CP then nag shift ako sa drums for a while (first instrument learned)
dati khit walang pera GAS tlaga..
:D
-
hahaha apir nalang!
The new meaning of GAS!

-
kaya ang ginawa kong GAS-extinguisher sa pedalboard is to get a small one (pedaltrain JR copy). para dun ko na lang ipagkasya yung pedals. :-D
...and then you can easily get another pedaltrain jr. :-D
i think one the best ways you can stop gas is to be famous enough, and have a very recognizable sound. that way if you do get the hankering for some new piece of gear, you'd be limited to stuff that would keep your signature sound.
-
healed? no thanks :-D
gamot sa gas? huwag mag browse sa philmusic :-D
This :-D
