ghost note- hit the snare very very softly, should be barely audible. requires good stick control skills
double stroke - as the name suggests, hit twice using the same hand. (ta-tat)
rim shot - hit the rim/hoop with the stick body while the stick tip hits the center of the drum head, at the same time.
mukhang mahirap yang p-practisin mo a. try something easier muna. praksitin mo yung ghost notes and double strokes with both hands. Promise, medyo mahirap yan based sa tabs.

hello there (galing din sa kanta) practice mo paradiddle

tapos eto namang modified pattern

tapos try mo hinanaan lahat nung left hand mo, as in 1 inch lang yung layo nung stick sa head

pag comfortable ka na, lakasan mo yung hits ng left hand dun sa mga capital letters

magagawa mo na yung pattern, wag mo muna pansinin yung x, o, d, g dun sa tab. yung 2nd exercise e yung exact pattern para dun sa left hand, yung 3rd at 4th naman practice para sa ghost note
then kapag nagagawa mo na ng malinis yung 4th, try mo i-press down yung stick sa head at kusang tatalbog yun at magagawa mo na yung double stroke dun sa tab. make sure that you hold the stick using your thumb and index finger. the trick here is to control the rebound of the stick, you need to practice. the volume of the press down stroke should be the same as your ghost note.

practice it slow, kapag natural mo na nagagawa yung dynamic change in volume nung pattern, incorporate mo na yung bass drum at 8th notes sa hihat

Hirap na hirap ako mag-ghost notes sa tightly tuned na snare. Umaasa kasi ako sa bounce e, e sa tight tuning nawawala yung talbog, kaya bumalik ako sa slightly loose tension.
Dynamic ba ang fingers niyo sa ghost notes, o medyo drop-bounce din ang pagpalo niyo ng ganito?
Ang tagal kong inactive dito, bwiset na trabaho e, lagi akong nagkaka-36 hour working marathon. :cry:

diba mas matalbog nga ang stick pag tight ang tune ng head mo?? ako naman mas nadadalian mag ghost note spag tight ang head ko..

sakin tight ang batter head ng snare ko... mostly binabagsak ko lang ang stick for ghost notes pero ndun pa din ang finger control :D

Practice ko na lang mag-tap with tight head.

O kaya i adjust mo ang position kung saan ka naka hawak sa stick. Kung saan yung balance eh mas nagba bounce yung stick mo.

you myt want to start practicing your ghost notes not just bouncing or dropping you stick a let it bounce but also doing your strokes isa isa by your wrist. medyo hindi na siya tunog buzz

also may difference din yung grip mo sa sticks sa mga ghost notes mo. try mo tanggalin yung stick sa left hand mo then act like kakatok ka sa snare drum bater head. tapos ibalik mo yung stick then move your hand down para sakto yung tip ng stick sa gitna ng snare. ok yan sa ghost notes.

well ako it took me 6 months to pull it off...
hirap talga.. yung very balanced na ghost.. ung super hina.. medyo tapos standard na volume.

ako mga 2 weeks to a month siguro.. medyo tagal na kasi nun eh.. medyo weekends lang din ako nakakapractice nun kasi HS pa lang and di pa pwede mag-ingay sa amin noon..

Honestly, Im not sure yet kung ok na yung ghost note ko from pianissimo to mezzo-forte to forte.
Approach ko sa drums kasi medyo mahina lang pero halos dinig pa din, tapos natural volume (like accents on paradiddles) then yung pinakamalakas yung rimshot. Im not sure kung tama ito for rock or heavy metal genre. Pag mas mahina pa kasi,kahit ako hindi ko na nararamdaman dahil sa lakas ng ibang instruments but I can play more softly than that, kung mag isa lang akong tumutugtog o disciplined yung guitarist na ka jam ko (which is quite rare)
It took me a year to learn to play dynamically kasi I just had my personal drumkit a year ago. Nevertheless, Im still workin on it, specially sa bass drum :-)

ako naman... i can do ghost note sa ibang beat. pero di ganun ka consistent at pantay pantay..pero di ko kaya gawin yung katulad ng nakita ko kay drumster dati na consistent siya.. di ko pa makuha kung naka 16th note yung ghost note nya. heheheh..

not a master here po... its a matter or time talga... once you get your own pulse and master that... ayun! ok na rin... but being consistent at all times is really hard... different types of snares tightness can also affect your pulse playing... so kung saan ka man sanay dun ka magdevelop... but in time masasanay ka din khit anong tunings ng snare madali nlang... ayun...

I remember, there was a time na ni-record ko yung pag d-drums ko sa isang portable cassette recorder. I did a shuffle groove. Nung pumapalo ako, feeling ko ok naman,pero nung pinakinggan ko magkalapit na magkalapit yung volume nya. I tried it again, but i played my ghost notes more softly than the first recording,tapos mas nilakasan ko yung accented note, pero parang ganun pa din ang nangyari, malakas pa din yung supposed to be grace notes! :?
Di kaya sa cassette recorder ang problema? kasi minsan yung bass drum, kahit lakasan ko ang sipa mahina pa din ang labas, mas angat lagi yung dry na tunog ng stick sa hihats :|
pag nag r-record ba kayo habang nagp-practice (using portable cassette recorder) saan nyo sya nilalagay? Ano ginagawa nyo para mabawasan ang sensitivity nya sa mga higher frequencies?

Ghost notes are musical notes occurring in a rhythmic figure which are purposely reemphasized, often to the point of near silence. In popular music drumming these notes are played, "very softly between the 'main' notes," most often on the snare drum in a drum kit.
Agree po ako ni Sir peeves at kanyang rudiments na ipanakita effective yan. Try mo mag-search lang youtube marami silang demonstration doon.
