Yup! Iilan sila sa mga sikat na world-class female drummers. I'm sure there are more.
Drumming is a male-dominated field, whether we like it or not. I've read somewhere that the world drumming population is about 95% male. That's why for me, chick drummers are so cool. Sila ang mga astig!

pagdating sa top rated drummers na babae, for me, is Shiela E and Cindy Blackman.. im impressed by the speed of Shiela E and for Cindy Blackman, is her Jazz style after seeing one of her oldest video clip..

i only know 2 women who can drum really well, one of em is paramita's ria, do search for her in youtube, you wont be disappointed! if you can sing and drum like she does, you are indeed gifted. i know i cant hehehe. cheers!

just wanna share this, during my visit at the namm show, i saw this chic sa pearl area..at first i thought she's a model or an actress then later i saw a poster of her..pare yun drummer pala ng the donnas..haha..sa sobrang ganda nya nakalimutan ko na may dala akong camera..haha..classic talaga!!!! :mrgreen:

Adding to that, Kavey is a highly dedicated drummer and a fast learner. When I had a drum workshop for the DLSU Pops sometime last year, I showed her some exercises that she can work on... After that, pinatugtog ko siya, nakuha niya kaagad! I've witnessed her improve and develop her drumming over the years. Imbitahin ko nga siya dito sa PhilMusic...
I hope female drummers who happen to be Pinoydrums/Philmusic Forum members can post here. It's ironic... This is a female drummers' thread, pero wala pang nagpo-post na babaeng drummer. :-D

i was just readin through the post and darn yes. magaling sya mag drums tlaga. you should watch her ghost notes. Ung drummer ko na jzzer nagulat and natuwa at the same time. Sobrang ganda ng discipline ng batang un and meron pang shopwmanship. nga pala palagi ako sa guitar central pero drummer akop for 6 years. hehehe

kung papakingan mo siya nsa metro at hindi dumadapa sobra ang galing talaga.......

Yeah, she's really cute--short too--I've seen The Donnas on a couple of occasions. My first time was at The Graceland and then the second time was when they opened for The New York Dolls at the Bumbershoot Festival. She'd make any rocker's heart skip a beat since her band's totally mad about GnR, Cinderella, Motley Crue, and The Ramones.
Too bad she's unavailable, thanks to Tre Cool from Green Day.
My favorite female drummer though is Janet Weiss. She was the engine that drove Sleater-Kinney through songs like Off With His Head, Entertain, and Combat Rock (just ones off the top of my head that highlight her bashing skills). It's rumored that she's joined Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks now that S-K is defunct.

OT... DLSU-CSB, Class of 2002, BS-Industrial Design. I was also an active member of the DLSU Pops Orchestra, from 1996 'til 2002.
In relation to the topic... DLSU Pops also have its share of female drummers. Among those who have become active on the scene are Kavey Viloria (Diana Rising) and Atchoo Ilagan (Wake Up Your Seatmate).
These past few years, Pops has been inviting me to conduct drum clinics for their current drummers. So that's how I met Kavey and Atchoo. I admire them for being such good drummers, and they are two more fine examples of Pinay drummers whom we can be proud of. And it's not really about the looks (though yeah, they do have the looks). These women are fine musicians, and they can really play! :-)

This way... (this is the 2 best reason why) :-D
1) Hindi magkaka-kalyo ang mga kamay nila! (nakakasakit sa lalaki pag makapal ang kalyo. Hindi nyo madadaan sa lotion or oil "believe me".) 2) pagpapawisan sila nang sobra. (Magiiba ang ihip ng hangin nyan mga tol! magiging GF+Calamansi flavor)

Cindy Blackman drums for this song. Galing nung kanta. Simple, and funky yung drums. Hihat, snare and kick lang. Lupit ng placement ng spaces, ng hihat chicks, ung drag sa snare, astig..
One great song made with simple funky drumming mixed with bluesy and soulful voice...

Got me thinking too so I browsed through the comments. It looks like she said she just laid the video over the audio of the song. So there really are no mics. Oh well, but based on the video looks like she got the song. Guess would have been better if she mic'ed it and dubbed here own audio on the video.
