How many users are going to use it? It is going to be live or just a private server

This.

And more questions: Storage requirements (RAID configuration, how many drives, SAS / SATA), processor requirements (single or dual, # of cores), memory requirements, OS (WinServer 2008 STD, Enterprise, etc). Form factor: Tower or rackmountable (1U, 2U, etc).

Kung sakaling mag go yung company nio., anu balak role ng server? File / print and storage? Domain controller? Terminal Server?

Domain controller magiging role niya.

Maybe you can enable it in your Modem's configuration page..

good day mga sir,

Puede rin to. Pero kung gusto mo free, try VirtualBox. I have not tried installing a server OS though using VirtualBox.

You can setup a Windows Server 2008 without defining any server roles, pero mas magiging madali ang buhay mo when it comes to troubleshooting, server/services identification and inventory, server OS hardening, etc.. kung mag a-assign ka ng roles sa bawat servers na ise-setup mo..

Here are the server roles you can use for Winserver 2008: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd283014(v=ws.10).aspx (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd283014(v=ws.10).aspx)

Isang malupit na question pre:

Yung mga WinServer 2008 servers mo ba additional machines on your existing environment ? I think may impact to sa domain / infrastructure policies na in place sa company nyo..

Try mo muna mag virtualPC or virtualBox running windows '03 or '08 sir, kung may spare kang PC, try mo iintegrate mo sa network nyo, para masigurado ka sa requirements nyo, I remember dun sa pinagOJThan ko nung nasira yung server, ganito ginawa namin, DHCP server lang naman kaya medyo magaan, ang alam ko hanggang ngaun yun pa rin gamit nila. :-D

For an entry level i think 20 is okay but it still depends sa apps na papatakubin ninyo. Example 20 VM pero lahat mag Windows OS and running a few applications talagang gagapang yun pero kaya naman. But 20 unix interface (example AVAYA Termulator, Database management [thru Sql and stuff]) medyo kaya naman.

At the best kung may mga luma kayong PC and switch try CLUSTERING po para mas rock and roll yun VM ninyo. Don't know the right computations pero imagine 8GB of memory and 8 core of processing di ba mala CERN yun hehehe. Anyway good luck chief.
