Title: Church band best practices
Post by: Digidog78 on January 07, 2014, 04:06:37 PM
Maganda sana kung ma-i-share natin dito ang mga "best practices" ng bawat isa na miyembro ng kani-kanilang church music ministry, specifically, yung mga tumutugtog every time may church service (be it bible studies, prayer or worship services). Share naman kayo diyan. :)

Same here. We're required to attend bible studies and prayer meetings (wednesdays and fridays).

Our meetings are done Saturdays. Business meeting, then prayer (either corporate or one-for-another), then practice proper. We normally just practice intros and endings. We include selected passages especially on difficult transitions and the like. We're done in 3 hours all-in.

On Sunday's we come an hour before the service for 30mins of morning devotion and prayer. Our service starts at 7AM. :)

The best 'band' practices is best manifested away from band time...

The daily, personal, intimate, secret life.

After being with the music ministry for a number of years, this is what I found out. No matter how we required them to attend things we do to supposedly prepare the team, kaming mga kuya would soon find ourselves astounded with problems our team face. I though kulang sa discipleship, or bible study, or what not. So we planned more, had cell group more, did spiritual enhancement seminars/walks/etc.

Still, those problem surface. Surprisingly, I've met a pastor who is a great worship leader and had been active in many church music teams, told me that he found some of the most hypocrite christians to be members of music teams. He said, the apparent 'flow' and success of the music and performance makes them think 'tis the flow of the Spirit, and it became a cover for their unrepentant, carnal lives.

Until I saw this anecdotal situations: a music minister who honors his mother and father has no problem honoring the sanctity of music ministry, while a church musician who views internet porn in the wee hours of morning will need to be busy with church work so that probably he won't give in to the temptation. You get the idea. The former, though there be few or sporadic band 'spiritual' preparation, would have no problem worshiping. The latter, would soon be on another round of counselling, absenteeism (due to guilt), vicious warm-cold cycle, etc.

Not to say the latter have no hope, I've seen some get back up. Nor do I intend to troll or rain on this post. What I'm saying is, if you truly desire to be a blessing to your band, be sure you're a blessing to the Name of Christ even in your personal, intimate, secret lives.

I wanted to share this with you guys.....your MUST practice POST-praise and worship.

I just noticed na karamihan ng Worship team, AFTER ng Praise and worship nagkakawalaan. I just wanted to ask kung nature ba yun o talagang may spirit of superiority ang iba sa worship team.

I believe the best practice is umupo sa harapan after ng praise and worship. Kung pawis ka man (ako lage after maglead ng worship hahaha) dapat may dala ng tshirt at saglit lang na magpalit sa CR. then have to go back at the front. We must set an example sa iba, na hindi tayo 'exempted sa word'. We are still member of the church, part of the church. we must obey our pastor and listen to him/her. We are serving God not because we want to serve him, but because we MUST and HAVE to serve Him. It's our duty, it's our calling. simula umpisa kung pano maghanda, dapat ganun din hanggang matapos. If we want to be a blessing from the start, we have also to be a blessing til the congregation leaves the church at the end. :)

Just my 2 cents. hehehe.  :-D peace.

- Come to rehearsals on time;
- Come to rehearsals prepared. Meaning you have practiced the supposed song line-up.

yeah right, I agree sa mga sinabi nyo guys! :)

Worship should be a lifestyle not just on the stage to play our instruments.

and an important reminder to us:

before tayo pumunta on-stage, magpa-tono muna tayo kay Lord before we pick up our instruments. its an act of Surrender and humbleness to God.

God Bless us all guys! Walk by Faith, not by Sight.

Ephesians 6
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

ETO!!! ETO!!!
may members kami na nakaka frustrate.

You should talk to that musician as possible. baka kasi gayahin sya ng iba at ma tolerate pa ung ginagawa nya.. if palaging ganyan, I don't see the passion in that musician. dapat ma discipline as possible. baka nakakalimot kasi. hehehe  :-D

and what I feel is that he just wanted to play his/her instrument not to Glorify but to him to be GLORIFIED!

Siguro parang "sub-conscious" force nalang na gusto niya mag pasikat (does that make sense?)...like how most arrogant people actually don't intend to be arrogant...subconscious lang...ewan hahah

Haaayyy

kea nga its better na mag karoon ng team building and spiritual retreat.. dun mo makikita at dun din nila malalaman ang importansya ng lahat ng bagay kahit na taga "acetate" ka lng...
