Title: HELP PLEASE! MG30CFX or LX65R?
Post by: mrskizm on October 15, 2014, 02:52:22 AM
I've tried using a 50watt Marshall amp and this 65watt Laney, and for me, Marshall sounds good but the difference is that this Marshall amp is only 35watts.(Hindi kaya ng budget yung 50watts haha)

Gonna purchase either of these on Saturday and of course I will try them both first.

I know in the end, I will still be the one who's gonna decide what to pick, I but would still like to hear suggestions and advice from you guys.

Thank You.

I played and owned MGs and currently gig with an LX65. It depends on how you will use your amp. the drive channel of the MG will be better , but will not have pristine cleans, IMHO bitin ito with a full band setting sa gigs at open air venues due to the MG being 30 watts, ive seen MG speakers reconed for being pushed too loud for its limits, pero Sakto ito for rehearsals ,small gigs and jams. LX65 will cut thru a full band setting, i rarely go past half the volume, but the drive channel for me is forgettable, hehe. I use the clean channel and rely on pedals for dist and OD. You have to invest on a case or cover coz the LXs insides is prone to mildew, sa wooden board lng nmn around the speaker, i dont know why siguro dahil sa material or pint n gamit, coz i dont experience that on my old MG. Hope this helps!

Di ko ginagamit yung drive ng LX, parang mejo fuzzy (wooly?) sounding for my taste. Besides It does not come with a footswitch so mahirap magpalit ng channel sa gig. Mamaya sa practice namin i try ko  :)

LX65r + fulltone OCD

I used to have this setup before I decided to just get a tube amp. the dirt channel of the laney is not that nice, so you'll need a good drive pedal. the 30watt MG series won't cut in a band setting (with a loud drummer).

There's always the 2nd hand market if budget is concerned.  :-D

Marshall ako between the 2. though 30 watts is more like studio use imo.

Goodluck sakin! haha =)

I had a Laney LX65R maganda yung clean nya, the drive the channel is pasasble but nothing great . I had a few dirtboxes for my specific gain needs. Mas maganda xang pedal platform compare sa Marshall MG though I only tried the 100 watts combo. Sa gigging max kuna young volume nya about 6.

Marshall, looks and sounds much better. Mas ginaganahan ako nag gitara pag nakikita ko ung Marshall Logo but that might be just me.

I had a 100 Watt MG before, ganda ng tunog lalo pag cranked. It just got much better sounding when the speakers were broken in.

Nice Cleans, Nice Drive, Nice built in Fx, and ung looks syempre, when you play everyone will see you're using a Marshall.
