Title: Wuhan or Stagg?
Post by: g0d5_g1ft on February 04, 2007, 11:05:41 AM: guys plano ko bumili ng cymbals para Bday gift ko sa sarili ko... di na ko nag aspire ng high end zildjian or sabian since d2 lang naman ako sa bahay nagddrums at wala akong banda... ok na kaya itong mga to? mejo halo halo tugtugan ko eh... minsan abot hanggang disturbed minsan namn Nina hehehe. nakita ko kc yung medium 16" ng stagg sh at 3K then may nagbebenta din ng wuhan s 16" for 3k dito sa forum and s series din na 18" for 3.5K tight budget din ako i guess kc bbili pa ko ng isa pang stand para dun... sa ngayon naka planet Z ako and i think wuhan or stagg would be a "bit" better than planetz lalo na b20 yun stagg... thanks guys for any help

isa pa pla may ngbbenta ng paiste sound reflector 2000 power crash 18" skn 4k ok kaya un?

for Stagg, i've almost heard them all and i can say that Stagg is an under-rated brand abroad. ofcourse locally, it's making a mark of its own. i'm sure in the near future, Stagg would be recognized for it's quality and sound, globally.

in short, +1 for Stagg. :-) :-)

Iv'e tried 16" SH Crash and 16" Myra Crash and they realy sound good. Quality is ok but the edge of the SH cycmals are deadly. hehehe it's sharp. Well as of quality of sound and durability I'd go for stagg. No comment with wuhan havent used thier product alot. Go Stagg.

stagg is making its way felt more on our local drumming scene..i believe this cymbal fits the budget of a large portion of our drummers :wink:

maganda nga ang DH china...nalimutan ko na tunog ng SH china pero alam ko maganda sila pareho...mas trip ko ung DH :-)

wuhan chinas are ok, but some fellow drummers told me that LION china models(Wuhan) crack easily, kaya to those hard hitters, hehehe konti ingat lang po. Ung TRADITIONAL China ng Wuhan naman, so far yung 18" palang ang na-try ko, sobra ok ako, it sounds better kapag used in a big room or bar, kapag nasa kwarto ka lang with limited space...di mo ma-appreciate ung tunog kasi malakas talaga sumigaw itong china na ito ng wuhan.

At kung splash naman ng wuhan, hehehe, i had a traditional splash 10", di tumagal sa akin, hindi ko kasi trip yung tunog, hindi kasi glassy at clear, para siyang china splash na alanganin po.

in short...CHINA=WUHAN....SPLASH=STAGG 8-)

well you cant really tell not unless you can try both..if you are a hard hitter then go for the bigger size china cymbals since they sound louder than the small ones.. :wink:

Post by: wax_static on July 01, 2008, 09:29:14 AM: from my experience with wuhans, i've owned 12" 14" and 18", these chinas are sometimes hard to mix with the music... they're either to loud or too dark.. but i think they're are good for quick accents... :wink: (the 12" deserves time to get used to... hehehe)

for staggs, i haven't own one YET... but have tried a few at TMS.... for my taste they're definitely good chinas specially the DH's. Opens up quickly and nicely.... and the open sound is just great... :wink: just my dalawang sentimo...

I would describe the Wuhan chinas as raw and inherit genuine china sound. They are very unique individually since each china is handmade and sonic factors really vary. I would strongly suggest them most specially for heavy music where you would want to really cut through or make a big exclamation.

On the other hand Wuhans are a bit harder to control on softer music because of its raw quality which tends to be a bit loud. The solution I found for this is to shift to smaller sizes, the 12-14 are the ones I found more suited for lighter genres.

If you want a more musical, fine tuned, shimmering china sound you are better off with Zildjians and Sabians.

you can check out a lot of Black Panther's stagg china cymbal testing in youtube..pretty, chinese sounding for a china made china.

nako... dalawang 20" pa naman mga china ko wahahahah

hindi naman ata posible maging bitin ang tunog ng china sa audience... if anything, obnoxiously loud nga sila e. sa pitch at response lang talaga nagkakatalo. kung gusto mo high pitch at mabilis decay, sa 14"-16" ka. kung gusto mo mas brusko at buo ang tunog, sa 18"-20".

para sigurado, dalhin mo mga cymbals mo pag bibili ka ng bagong cymbal. tugtugin mo magkasama yung mga luma mong cymbals at yung mga plano mo bilhin para marinig kung bagay sila.

actually bro, compared to other entry level cymbals of zildjian (ZBT, Planet Z)
Scimitar sounds way better than them especially the ride and the hats. so baka naman hindi pa nakakagamit si bro kimpoy ng mga high end cymbals kaya nasanay siya at talgang nagustuhan ang tunog nung scimitars. dont be too harsh dude. this is a forum. "we ask questions and help Newbies" not bash them.

bro kimpoy, ang magandang gawin ay ung sinabi ni bro plep. dalin mo ung cymbals mo then magtest ka kasama ang STAGGS.

maganda ang staggs and tungkol sa sinasabi mong nakakapangit siya,
sobrang nagpapartner ung STAGG SH at DH's ko sa mga SABIANS ko. depende lang talaga sa pagpili mo yun bro :)
