Inspite of being a rockstar, as we call it hear. He was cancer survivor too. He must have prayed so hard huh? to pull off in a big situation like that. I think he can pull this off once again. Let's help him na lang by praying for his early recovery. Even guitar god's now a days still look up to him like PGM, JS, Vai and others too. :wink:

yup, Fender introduced the EVH Frankenstrat replica series at the NAMM convention earlier this year. the replicas cost US$25,000 a pop and all 300 guitars were sold within an hour. the amp Ed used was a prottoype 5150 III head. it won't be in production until further notice :)
1/3 of his tongue was cut off due to cancer that's why his accent sounds like a 77-year-old looking for his dentures.

jc_shredder, with all due respect, malaki ang nakakaing bandwidth niyang paulit ulit na pag post ng pictures niyo. sa pagloload ng mga pages dito sa philmusic, at sa dami ng users na tumitingin ng pages simultaneously, magkakaproblema or bibigat/babagal yung pag load ng page. yun lang naman.

Forgot na nga bro eh. Basta parang may "Classic Van Halen" something yung name ng site. Ang gusto ko pa diyan. Naka download ako nung "Gene Simmons Demo". Yung nag bigay ng break sa kanila noong 70's. Gene Simmons yung Bassist/Vocals ng "Kiss". Siya yung kumanta ng "Lords of Thunder" yata yun.
Yung "Woman In Love" sa demo ibang-iba sa nilabas nila sa album. Ibang-iba din yung lyrics. Yung nasa demo parang Razorback ang dating. Mararamdaman mo yung pagiging Blues Rock nila dati dun sa "Gene Simmons Demo".

I remember an article where he said, "You need to be one with your guitar to be great" or something like that. That's why he used to build his guitars by himself. Effects too. I think he also modifies his own amps.

By just looking at the neck and the headstock---seems like a Danelectro (sa tinging ko lang ha...) there' sone that Paul Gilbert used before during Mr. Big Days. It was 36 frets and a long horn(meaning to say the cutaways are really long! )

it seemed that eddie was in total control over the songwriting with this album. kaya weird din yung lumabas. kumbaga there was ni dave or sammy to balance his ideas.

Fernandes Sustainer :) that's why i had one installed to my EVH Wolfgang as well. pati sa "Humans Being," "A Year to the Day" (from Van Halen III) and sa "Learning to See" (from The Best of Both Worlds) ginamit din nya yung Sustainer-equipped Wolfgang nya :)

tapped harmonics are executed by fretting a base note then tapping the fret (yung fret na bakal mismo ha, hindi kahit saan lang between two frets) of the note you wish to hit (above the base note, of course). example nito yung sa tapped harmonic part sa first solo ng "Dreams," it's done this way:
(slowly release bend) G --5b7(bend a whole step)-------(14)--(12)----(14)--(12)----(14)--(12)--etc.----

Thanks. To tell you the truth, yun white manipis ang pagkapaint sa sides kaya din gusto ko ulitin. Yun stripes sa horns medyo off. Pero this is my first time to paint a guitar and I did learn a lot. Hopefully pag ni-repaint ko na to mas maganda. :)

well yeah, sabagay.. but Ivy's turning brown now, parang numinipis na ata yung paint nya e. prevalent na yung paint wear sa right side (the side where i place the guitar on top of my lap whenever i practice at home) and sa back part. maybe i'll wait for a few more years before i have Ivy repainted. maganda sana kung purpleburst with faux binding. trip ko yung ganun e :)

I'm sure those are excellent guitars.
But for some reason I like the exact same wolfgang body shape and headstock. :D

the best headstock for me is the plain old EBMM. for the body it's the wolfie with the flat top.

i've tried the HP Special CT a few months ago.. ang ganda ng tone, ang ganda din ng handling. nakaka-GAS! the EVH Wolfgang has slight weight balance problems because EVH wanted his signature guitar to look exactly like what the Wolfgang turned out to be so Peavey had to compromise the weight distribution a bit to accommodate EVH's design recommendation. Peavey corrected this minor problem sa HP Special CT. ang tindi ng specs nun: Lok Block (similar to the Tremol-No, you can choose between recessed and floating Floyd Rose setups on the fly), push-pull knobs for coil splits, custom-wound humbuckers (very close to the Wolfgang in terms of gain), birdseye maple neck for both Special and Special CT versions, etc. pero mas ma-mojo talaga yung Wolfgang because EVH actually used that same guitar to wow us all :)
pero naga-GAS pa rin ako sa Special CT!

Now that you mentioned it, mojo IS important. Just like EVH, not the fastest or most technical by a long shot but he is dripping with mojo. Maybe he IS mojo. :-D

i love my wolfgang pero i'm not really at home with the stock pickups. It sounds great. high output and very clear pero PAF sound talaga ang gusto ko. nilagyan ko ng pang coil split to make it a bit more versatile.

if i'm not mistaken, yung isang Strat-type na natry ko dati eh yan yung pickup sa bridge. PAF-type pa rin sya pero mas vintage Van Halen yung voicing. may sound clips sa sa forums dyan, pakinggan mo! gusto ko rin ilagay yan sa EVH ko e, pero ipon mode muna ako :)
pwede rin yung Seymour Duncan EVH Custom Shop humbucker pero kelangan mo i-contact yung Seymour Duncan directly. mas Van Hagar tone sya :)

I used to have a EBMM EVH copy na MIK that i put a pair of Zebra SH-10's (SeymourDuncan Full Shred). I A/B'ed it with the wolfgang. Although mas may sustain si wolfie( due to the whole construction of the guitar), mas Dynamic and mas humihinga yung SH-10 equipped Copy as well as harmonics compared to the high output pickups of the wolfie.
too bad wala na sa akin yun. sana pinag swap ko na lang ng pickups.
How about the Dimarzio Virtual PAF's? Ganda ng soundclips nun eh.

naghahanap din ako ng mga gusto magjam na puro Van Halen ang banatan e, kahit ako kumanta pag Van Hagar songs hehehe mataas singing voice ko e :)
Buo ka na ng Van Halen tribute band. You can keep your "day band" pero just for the fun and novelty have another one (or the same one) cranking out 100% VH tunes.
That'll be a trip! :)

I went to Ali Mall to check it out. Pumayag naman na hawakan ko. Medyo kinakalawang yun strings kaya medyo di ko na tinugtog. Hindi pala asymmetric yun profile nung neck nya, normal lang and mukhang maganda din naman.
After that I went to PJC Music to look at the Ernie Ball Axis which I believe is what became of the EVH model nung umalis si EVH sa Ernie Ball. If I was impressed sa Korean Wolfgang, medyo malayong mas maganda pala yun Ernie Ball nung nahawakan ko na. Ganda sobra. Suffice it to say, maganda din presyo. Good investment though for a lifetime instrument.

Very very impressive yung workmanship and materials nung guitar. Have a go see and subukan mo tugtugin, mukhang ok lang naman kay PJ. Although di ko na tinugtog, di ko kayang panindigang bibilhin ko e. Hehehehe. According to JP sakto daw yun tone and there really is no reason to doubt that statement. Same specs as the EVH, naiba lang ata yun route and location ng switch. Everything else is the same. Natural quilt yun nandun.

the neck and pickups are from my wolfgang. I had a spare neck. The pickups i replaced so i sold him my stock EVH's. :-D He had the body custom made. Hardware sa kanya din.

Had it done sa RJ, they had 2 revisions sa body palagi kasi sila nagkaka mali. Still they didn't nail the exact details that I wanted. Let's just say they gave me a 50% discount on this body. :-) Di ko na post price dito baka ma quote pa ko at malugi RJ! :-P
