May nag-post nito sa friendster... The only things I read are loads of crap... parang bungangaan online... nonsense...
Kaya i-po-post ko 'tong topic na 'to dito... since alam ko naman na mas may sense ka-forum ang mga tao dito...
They are two of the most prominent emo bands in the country (opinion ko po). I'm not really a big fan of emo but I give them their due because they're really good in their field... Ang tanong... sino'ng mas-magaling?

the latest album of Chicosci is so similar to My Chemical Romance's "I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love"
as in, nung una kong narinig yung whole album ng chicosci, i was even partly fooled, akala ko MCR yung pinapakinggan ko.
yung typecast naman, nagmellow sila sa latest album nila, i dunno why, maybe to be radio friendly, or para mag-appeal sa masa. i don't even want to begin to drop the name of bands Typecast sounds like.
but to answer the question, mas trip ko Typecast. why? because of guitar dynamics. at ayoko yung pagkanta ni miguel e,

mas magaling chicosci kasi mas may experience na sila. mag gusto ko tugtugan nila dati. ngayon hindi na. masasabi ko lang sa dawlawang banda ngyaon.. parang walang originality. opinion ko lang yan. at dun sa drummer ng type cast. d naman ako nagagalingan sa kanya. mabilis lang naman ginagawa niya na fills. pati yung beat nya at fills parang pa balik balik lang. natatawa pa ako sa itsura niya sa mga video pat nag ddrums siya. hehe. peace. :)

tingin ko mas magaling Typecast... yung chicosci... sumusabay lang sa uso.. walang originality.. mas okay pa sila dati noong nu metal days nila at sa album na method of breathing.. ngayon parang mcr pinoy version na lang sila with matching hair na one sided attack and powerful eyeliner make up ahaha... mas ayos typecast kasi sa emo talaga sila nagsimula.. pinaringgan pa nga daw ng typecast ang chicosci nung summerslam eh.. well talagang may away nga daw typecast and chico.. nung sa 6th underground album launch ng the black parade nagsimula.. tumugtog raw ang typecast ng kanta na patama sa chicosayang ehehe.. pero di rin ako mahilig sa emo/post-hardcore.. di ko kayang makinig ng matagal sa music nila.. kasi puro kahinaan na lang naririnig ko :lol: :-D

last saturday nagkaron ng Gig dito sa amin.. well last kami.. kasi closing.. trip na lang.. sabi ko sa stage.. pasensya na sa tutugtugin namin.. kasi pambata pala tong gig kaya di kami nasiyahan.. hahahaha..

hindi ko alam e. kasi parang magmukang gay yung chicosci e. tapos parang sobrang ginagaya nila yung mga foreign bands like fall out boy and my chemical romance. kung panu cla gumalaw sa stage tapos yung itsura nila. ewan. hehe.yung last album nila na icarus ok pa e. medyo may pagkaemo tapos meron paring taste ng method of breathing. pero etong last, nagiba na tlaga. although meron akong isang kantang gusto sa kanila. yung "knives" pero overall,parang hindi kna sila trip. yung typecast naman,ok sila pero parang isa lang yung tunog nila. hindi ko maexplain,pero parang kapag narinig mo yung kanta,alam mna na typecast yun. hehe. opinion ko lang a. pero magaganda talga yung kanta nila and siguro id go for them!

i dont like those two bands ... but if im gonna take out all preconceived notions and PRETEND they really were original... id say Slapshock (also assuming that i dont care about the lyric construction).
i went to a slapshock show once and they did sound like the albums (xep for those synth parts) ... and well, they have good stage presence - i have to give them that.

i have to say ... Agent Orange was a good video. it ddnt make any sense, but the visuals, and that spinning camera thing... it was great. lyle sacris did a good job...

It really was a bad song in some ways, but it had an undeniable hook, for the kind of music it was in.

CHICOSCI - Pop punk/ Emo / Post hardcore SILENCE- Hard rock/ Alternative-metal/ with a bit of Metalcore sound.
even miguel chavez himself.. hangang hanga kay jamir nung collab nila sa PIMPSTYLE. :-D
pero astig nga ang CHICOSCIENCE days ng CHICOSCI.. ngayon parang CHICOSAYANG... :lol:

one thing gusto gusto ko sa slap. is ayaw nilang lumabas sa tv na may kasabay na artistang kumanta, :lol: ayaw din nila lumabas sa commercial, at ayaw nilang gamitin itsura nila para sumikat, hindi sila papogi gaya ng mga baduy na banda.. sumikat lang kasi pacute palagi sa masa! :evil:

THIS BAND JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER
Hot off their rebirth into heavy metal, via their previous disc Novena, and growing further away from the nu metal tag they acquired, being one-third of the biggest genre-triumverate the country has ever seen, Slapshock has the uncanny ability to prove everybody wrong; when audiences thought they were mere copycats of a style destined for an early doom, they reinvented their sound. When audiences thought they would'nt last in a music industry riddled with the trappings of trend-based marketing and hype, they released album after album during the weirdest of times: during the pogi-rock explosion, the emo-explosion and well, now, during the "doesn't-sound-like-rock-at-all" explosion.
Silence, the band's fifth studio album to date, is a welcome departure from the old Slapshock sound; it's obviously heavier than ever, as guitarists Lean Ansing, Bassist Lee Nadela and Jerry Basco, alongside drummer Chi Evora, shines as musicians who got the extra mile and in the tradition of the genre, challenge the current norm. Furiously fast-picked riifs, a refreshing double-pedal attack above the grooves and a lower-than-hell bottom end is more than effective to make first-time listeners of the new disc ask "Was THAT Slapshock?!!" in total dumbfounded-ness. Album opener "Shed your skin" is the perfect welcome mat, as it sums up what the time in between albums has made of these established musicians. As most musicians/bands (like Metallica) have grown softer and become slower with age, vocalist Jamir garcia and company seem to be going for the different direction, despite the fact they're almost comparably successful in their own right.
But what's exceptionally noteworthy with the release is that all these improvements still haven't taken away one important aspect to this unit: their identity. Yes, it does sound weird that they're as heavy as hell, but it won't take fans and occasional listeners more than three seconds to know that it's them: possibly due to Garcia's distinct vocals and writing style, or maybe even the arrangements and continually climaxing approach of the songs' structures: check out tracks like marching "Sleepless Blvd.," and the throbbing, stop-and-go progressions of "Last ride" and "What we are." it sounds more like a natural evolution than a career move. And that's a big plus.
Old fans needn't be afraid that it all might be too heavy for them, as Garcia (as a vocalist), still hasn't forgotten to create humongous catch phrases and sing-along anthems, coupled off with his honed ability to actually sing, as evident in the album's first single "Direction." It could be that all of Garcia's projects outside the band as a producer and songwriter for R n' B and Hip-Hop artists have come in as an effective tool in the band, alongside the rest of the band's unshamed admittance to listening (and liking) other artists from other more pop-based genres and sub-genres. Also, Garcia hasn't abandoned his skills to write in the native tongue, as tracks like "Adios" and "Pagtila" are reminiscent of their past tune "Misterio," as the music doesn't sound awkward of forced at all, and add a proud charm to local listeners' tastes.
Sound-wise, there are a lot of high notes Garcia might have a hard time reproducing live, and the songs for the rest of the band might be more physically demanding when played live compared to their older tunes (which enable 'em to be jumping all over the place...) yet the mix, production and yes, even the sleeve design, is simply a work Slapshock can be proud of. I honestly can't think of anything wrong with this release, and I'm sure this is one disc that'll be among the few most memorable achievements in mainstream rock music this 2006. Finally

anyway ... lyle is a good with visuals. thats his strength. i dont blame for agent orange. its hard to come up with images for a song that doesnt have meaning.
as for joey dizon... i think he is a nice guy and a good guitar player... but cmon... i'd rather listen to howard stern than that guy. ok, i take that back... i'd rather listen to some unknown forum guy rather than that @ss-ki$$ing reviews he does for that pseudo rock magazine.

I'll go with SLAPSHOCK! Listen to the SILENCE album kasi para sa akin nag evolve ang tunog nila. Sobrang malinis. With growls parin pero the lyrics are deep and based on real life experience. Gusto ko yung "PAGTILA". Just my opinion..... \m/ :-)

slapshock was already on the rise to fame(?) that time. agent orange nga. hehe.. and Chicosci was still in the underground indie scene. but one thing common about these 2 bands way back is that they wear those oversized shirts and dreads. natatawa ako sa itsura ni miggy chavez noon. dreads! hehe. :-D they are also masters of the GROWL (rawrr!!) technique. hehe.. so para sa akin? i'm glad slapshock is STILL GROWLING... at hindi masyadong nagmellow..at nag pop punk/post-hardcore/emo sounding. they're heavy yet melodic and they're goin in a different direction and i think it's metalcore! :-D.. excited nako sa new album! \m/ :evil:

^nung mga early years ng slap.. lagi silang nagtatalon.. at sumisipa sa ere.. which is mahirap gawin or gayahin.. ang bibigat kaya ng gitara at bass.. pero ngayon sa mga big events na lang sila nagwawala sa stage at pag tinutugtog nila mga rap metal hits nila.. pero di pa rin nawawala yung galaw nila sa stage.. nawala man ang talon.. gumagalaw pa rin sila.. trademark nila yung flying kick at mga talon.. and IMO, that's very cool to watch.. lalo na pag live performance panalong panalo! \m/ :evil: slamman kaagad mga tao! :lol: :evil:

nung mga unang sabak ko sa mga concert's-concert's, cheese and greyhoundz talaga uso.. then came Slapshock.. the first time na napakingan ko sila, sobrang azteeg talaga.. then i watched them in a concert, potekk! dun ko nasabi na mas malufet sila kesa sa dalawa! Yung chicoscience nung nu-metal pa sila.. miggy is kinda "sintunado"... yung sa present music nila.. mas umokey ang pagkanta ni miggy.. kasi dun nababagay at dun pasok ang boses niya.. sa emo/pop punk ahaha!

slapshock did change their music direction. their drummer took sum tym to learn double bass to give their sound a new kick. for me they still hve the nu-metal in them so i choose that rather than emo.., peace :-D

Yung chicoscience ba yun (pati band name nirip-off sa totoong may pangalan, ano ba yan), sumasabay lang kung anong uso.
Naalala co before, kasunod silang lumabas nang magboom ang mga heavy sounding bands (Cheese, Greyhoundz, Slafshak :D). Ang tugtog pa yata nila non yung "Lost tha feeling in ma'.. lost tha feeling in ma' hiiead" yata. Ewan kung ano title nun. Heavy rin sila nun and si Miguel nagpipilit mag-growl like nung ginagawa ni Ian and Reg. Pero di nya kaya.
Then nung mejo nagmellow sounding sila, ninakaw naman nya yung identity ni Brandon Boyd ano ba yan?!?! Semi longhair, may red tattoo, may tunnel earrings etc. Haynako. Ang nakakatawa pa, nung magko-concert dito yung Incubus, parang may gig party yata or something and tumugtog ang Chicosci non. Tinanong sila (specifically Miguel) kung ano masasabi sa Incubus playing here, ayaw kumibo ipinasa ung mic sa iba. In denial pa ang lokah! Parang pagde-deny nya na emo band sila.
Now naman, ayan na emo fashion na. Shape-shifters nga naman iba na ang dating nila ngayon. Anlayo sa kung pano sila nagsimula (sabagay, kahit nung simula sumabay lang sila sa Cheese & Greyhoundz non eh)

to straight up the issues about AMIN AMIN na yan, INAMIN naman ng CHICOSCI na EMO sila i think last year pa nila inaamin sa mga RADIO guestings nila dito sa metro manila so bakit marami pang issue tungkol sa AMIN AMIN na yan? kung maalala ko RT yon and either yung campus radio or NU 107 yung isa,sabi din nila na part of their musical cycle ang new sound nila ngayon at part ng musical evolution nila(parang ganon )...for me theres nothing wrong about being so called "EMO" to this day wala namang talagang kahulugan ang EMO(lilitohin ka lang ng term na yan) para sa mga DADA ng DADA sa EMO ek ek! na yan just search and read everything about EMO sa wikipedia para malinawan kayo. Even yung so called creator ng EMO na yan na si Guy Picciotto of Rites of Spring sabi nya "I don't recognize that attribution. I've never recognized 'emo' as a genre of music. I always thought it was the most retarded term ever. I know there is this generic commonplace that every band that gets labeled with that term hates it. They feel scandalized by it. But honestly, I just thought that all the bands I played in were punk rock bands. The reason I think it's so stupid is that - what, like the Bad Brains weren't emotional? What - they were robots or something? ang lupet ng drummer ng further seems forever.. mas gusto kong vocalist nila si jason gleason..:-)
typecast pala ako.. nagustuhan ko yung 1st cd nila, yung panget yung recording kasi raw sound ng band.. makikita talaga yung talent.. judging from the sound of that cd, you can see they were influenced by poppy punk music.. :-)

opinion ko is, ang pinaka magaling dito is Slapshock, sila ang pinaka experienced band at tumutogtog na din cla sa ibang bansa. sila rin ang may pinaka maraming album at talagang nag evolve sila from rap metal to rock.
chicosci naman - kahit ito pinaka paborito ko, sa tingen ko kulang padin cla, kasi nga tama kayo nakikisabay lang cla sa uso, katulad date may nabasa ako sabe ng deftones " we are not a rap metal band, we are a rock band". alam natin na yan influence ng chicosci, tapos bgla nabasa ko rin sa sinabe din ng chicosci un sa interview at nagbago din cla ng tugtugan, d na cla rap metal. ngayon naman emo cla, kung ano uso un cla. pero astig parin cla para sakn.
typecast - ok na ok, magagaling cla kaso i think most of their songs ay ginaya lang sa mga foreign emo bands katulad nung sa SAOSIN, sobrang gayang gaya. pero ok sakin to, friendly sa tenga tugtugan nila. :D

if anything, for me, sobrang derived from metalcore ang sound ng slapshock ngayon. its KillSwitchEngage minus the occasional solos and melodic guitar fills plus really cliche lyrics = predictable. formulaic.
dapat nag MCR emo nalang rin sila... :lol:
